Reviews

This is a lovely little cottage and very cosy. It is in a pretty village with plenty of amenities on the doorstep. The White Bear Pub directly opposite is excellent for meals or just a drink. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything you could need for a stay making it a real home from home. The rooms are small but this is adequatley detailed in the information and was perfect for three adults. The owners live right next door and were friendly and helpful. The extras supplied such as tea and coffee, milk etc were appreciated along with some un expected extras like cake and rhubarb gin. Added to this the cottage is dog friendly, with plenty of dog walks nearby.

Chapel Cottage is in Stillington which is a great location for trips to York, North York Moors, Harrogate, Castle Howard, North Yorks coast etc. and it was perfect for the two of us for a week's sight seeing. The rooms are on the small side but this was clear from the online listing and they were comfortable and well furnished. We particularly liked the little courtyard out back which was great on sunny evenings. The kitchen/diner was very well equipped and we appreciated the cake and rhubarb gin left for us by the owners who also lent us a couple of North Yorks walking books for our stay. Parking on the road outside was fine and the pub across the road, The White Bear, were friendly and did great food. In summary we very much enjoyed our stay at Chapel Cottage and would stay there again without hesitation. Highly recommended.

We decided an improptu break and choose this little cottage near York. It was such a pretty little cottage, well equipped with plenty of games for us all to play (Children nearly 4 and 6), with tea & coffee supplies etc and a cake on arrival. We tried a different place to eat each night - the White bear pub, the fish and chip shop, and the local indian. And we couldn't fault either, the owners and the locals were all very friendly. Thank you for a lovely weekend!

We arrived late in the evening to find a cosy cottage awaiting us. The owners had kindly left us fresh milk and all the necessities for a cup of tea complete with locally made cake. The cottage was comfortably furnished with everything we needed. The owner was very friendly and suggested local places to eat & visit. On the doorstep is a lovely pub (white bear) and a great restaurant (bay tree) both are worth a visit. It takes about 15-20 mins to get into York dependant on traffic. But there are lots of routes out of the village worth exploring. A great stay.

A very good little cottage, right across the road from a pub which had great food and was dog friendly. In a nice location for some good all day long walks with the dog. Highly recommend the cottage, which had everything you could think of. There was also a small village shop close by which was well stocked.

This is a lovely little place, adjacent to the owner's house and was well equipped with lovely decor and some nice, welcoming finishing touches with some basic provisions and treats there to make us feel at home. They haven't skimped on decorating the place either so it is very comfortable, and also set in a village hosting a pub, a pub/restaurant and a particularly good indian restaurant all within a few yards. Just knocking one star off though as having spent in excess of £500 for a 3 night stay, I might have expected to be able to have enough material to feed the real fire for more than a single night.

Lovely, snug cottage with an open fire. Within easy travelling distance to York, Harrogate, Helmsley and the Moors. The owners were really helpful and left welcome touches to make us feel comfortable after our journey and were helpful without being intrusive. Would love to go back again.

A perfect place for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Perfect location for York and the seaside. Lovely cottage in a very peaceful village. Excellent local amenities in particular the White Bear Pub over the road. The owners were very pleasant through out our stay and we felt assured they were on hand should we need anything.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Chappel Cottage. We were given a warm welcome by Tania and David on arrival and were shown round the cottage which was exactly as described. Home made cookies and sloe gin were also awaiting us which was a lovely touch. The cottage is very well equipped and a lot of unexpected extras such as milk, soap, washing up liquid, bin bags, kitchen roll were also provided. The village is stunning and the location is ideal for anyone who wants to explore York and the surrounding area. The Local pubs and restaurants were all fantastic and are all just a very short walk from the cottage. The White Bear is literally across the road and the great quality food and excellent local beers made this our favourite. We will definitely be back to visit again.

A lot of thought has gone into the fitting out and furnishing of this pretty cottage, and the owners were very helpful without in any way intruding, providing many welcoming touches - flowers, fresh bread, eggs and milk etc. Very well decorated, warm and with extremely comfortable beds, we really enjoyed our stay in a very nice village within a lovely area. So handy for York too.
