I loved everything about my holiday and The Milk House was lovely. We were only a few days into the holiday when everyone said they would like to come again next year, so we will very likely be back in 2017 .

A beautiful cottage in a lovely area of Wirksworth.

The cottage was beautiful and in beautiful countryside. It was very spacious and beautifully decorated - very tasteful. The owners were lovely, very friendly and easy to chat to. Our party of 8 adults were very, very comfortable. We will definitely book this cottage again and recommend as an idyllic holiday for families.

We had a lovely week here at the Milkhouse, the cottage is very deceiving in size from the outside, once inside the size of down stairs was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of sofas to accommodate a large family to relax at night with the lovely (very hot) log fire. Couldn't have asked for a nicer cottage, it has everything you need, even a washing machine and dryer. The views were lovely from the garden.

The Milk House was the perfect base for our first Peak District walking holiday: the owners were really friendly and helpful. The property was spacious and beautifully appointed, with quality furniture and appliances throughout. The location was excellent, with the High Peak Trail almost on the doorstep and with fantastic views. Would highly recommend the Milk House and we are looking forward to returning in the near future. 10 out of 10!

The Milk House was the perfect place for a family weekend break to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. It was well-equipped, spacious and very comfortable. The décor is lovely throughout.

A really lovely place to stay, it had everything we needed and more. It was warm and comfortable with lots of natural wood and cosy throws. The owners were unobtrusive, friendly and helpful. In a fabulous area for walking and cycling. There was a real feeling of being away from it all.

We have just come back from a lovely long weekend at The Milk House, which is a holiday let of the highest quality. We imagine the property has been fairly recently renovated and the work has clearly been done to a high specification with superb joinery throughout. All the furniture is extremely comfortable, the kitchen is extremely well fitted with excellent utensils, crockery and cutlery. The 4 bedroom accommodation worked really well for 8 of us, moreover the owners were extremely accommodating allowing us an additional dog(!) and an extension of our departure time so we could enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the last day. They also left us a really nice welcome pack. There are plenty of good pubs/restaurants nearby although you do really need a car. Needless to say the walking and other activities in the area make for a wonderful break. Highly recommended.

The cottage was just what we wanted for a family get together. 4 decent sized bedrooms, a large living room and good sized dining kitchen. The view was stunning from the front courtyard and upstairs bedroom. I would highly recommend the property and if we visit that area again I will definitely look at renting once more.

The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. The owners were very helpful and generous and there were many interesting things to do in the area. There was good public transport – we managed to visit places without having a car.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Milk House. From start to finish, we could not fault our stay. We received a friendly welcome from the owner over the phone prior to our arrival, the directions provided were fantastic and the accommodation far exceeded expectations. As a group of friends, we have an annual weekend away and choosing accommodation can sometimes cause a problem trying to find 4 bedrooms of equal standard. This was not a problem at the Milk House - all four bedrooms were spacious and all equally stunning. The open plan kitchen / diner was very well appointed and had everything you could possibly need! The lounge was spacious and complete with a log burning fire - absolute bliss for a cold January weekend. As a lover of oak wood, this cottage was perfect - complete with solid oak furniture, a beautiful oak staircase and oak beams throughout the property. The furniture was all in perfect condition and the they had the softest bath mat I've ever felt! I literally have nothing negative to say about the Milk House - it was that nice we didn't want to leave!

An outstanding cottage which is very thoughtfully and tastefully presented. We particularly loved the sociable kitchen, the spacious bedrooms and the lovely log burner. The owners were most helpful and there are some lovely walks right on the doorstep including up to Black Rocks and down into Wirksworth.

What a fantastic cottage. The photos don't do it justice and the owners could not have made it more welcoming.

Rated by Mrs Shaw reviewed on 25th November 2014

In a good location a short walk from Wirksworth, with scenic walking countryside nearby. Excellent facilities, well kitted out with excellent sleeping and living accommodation, and child friendly. The rain didn't put a dampener on our stay. I'll certainly come back!

Rated by Dr Norris reviewed on 11th November 2014

The owners were very friendly and happy to help. The cottage was welcoming and felt homely. There were nice touches like children's books, welcome drinks and dog towels waiting for us! The property was warm, cosy, very clean and tidy. The cottage is well suited for local walks and attractions. There is lots to do nearby and we could have easily stayed for longer. The owners have clearly thought carefully about what they have provided and it shows that they care.

Rated by Mrs Tidball reviewed on 10th November 2014

Great option for two families sharing with a twin and double on the top floor and twin and double in the basement. A relatively short drive from various local attractions. Stunning views from the property.
