Reviews

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Will equipped with books, jigsaws & games. Fully equipped kitchen, log burners and a barn with pool table, dart board etc. Fully enclosed garden to keep your dogs in. The views are outstanding and the silence is golden. The best bit for me is the fact that barn owls are in the area and regularly can be seen at the property. Only one negative is that the fridge is small although it's not a big negative. A request to strip the beds before you leave was not a hardship, I always do this anyway.

Had a great week's holiday earlier this month. 5 of us stayed at this lovely venue. Plenty of room for relaxing, reading, watching TV etc with games area and safe garden for the 2 dogs. Beautiful weather, sat in garden overlooking the view of fields and moorland. Explored the local area and had a great time. Basket with biscuits, tea, coffee etc provided on arrival. Recommended

This was booked as a surprise 'big' birthday stay. It's a lovely farmhouse with ample room & fantastic views to both the sea & Moors. A welcome basket with milk crisps & biscuits was a nice touch. The farmouse itself is rustic & lots of charm. Roomy if you have dogs , there's also an enclosed area for them at the back of the property, however we did notice previous customers hadn't fully checked for dog waste before they checked out & we had to pick up before allowing our dogs access. The rooms are spacious , yet warm & the kitchen is fully equipped. We did think the fridge was too small, it's a property that sleeps 8 so if you're staying for longer than a couple of nights the fridge won't be adequate. There's a full size freezer in the utility area though. The pressure in showers is ok, but don't expect a power shower. We used the 2nd lounge for one night when we had 2 friends staying overnight & although we'd expect cobwebs in an farmouse we wouldn't expect a massive web in one corner of the room that had been there a while, also a cluster of dead flies on the windowsill. There's two working fireplaces but only a small starter pack for one fire, so if you're going to use them take a supply of kindling & logs. Be aware that the farmhouse is just beyond a working farm & the track up to it is as rustic as the farmhouse , but never bothered us . One tiny criticism , & it's a minor criticism....a request to strip beds on leaving?!! Why?? It's a rush checking out & making sure everything is clean & tidy & packing up car etc , but being asked to strip beds if possible, we did , but it's an added chore. We'd definitely return as it's a fabulous location.

Booked for the weekend for 7 of us along with 3 dogs. House is well stocked with everything you need. Delicious lemon cake left for us too. All the bedrooms are clean and cosy. We picked the weekend of storm Ciara so it was very windy on the nights but that cant be helped. Beautiful views 360 degrees and a great play room for the kids and big kids amongst us with a heater in there too. Two living rooms both with fires and plenty of wood to use with added cost which was reasonable and we made good use of it. Two bathrooms and extra downstairs toilet helped with the amount of people. The place has such character and had two TVs with all the channels you need. Plenty of books and games and our 11 and 13 year olds even got the Lego out! They havent done that in a while but it was great to not have them on the devices! Really good directions and felt welcomed by the owners who were easy to contact too. I would recommend this as a getaway and easy drive to both Guisborough and Saltburn. We walked in Saltburn on the Saturday and ate at Scarletts restaurant on the evening which is also recommended. Book it you wont be disapointed!

Just returned from a one week stay with family at Tidkinhow Farm cottage, what a lovely week we had! The cottage was perfect in all aspect, even a delicious home made cake waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage is ideal for exploring the north east coast and is surrounded by beautiful farm land giving excellent views of the moors, it even has a sea view! The cottage is very well equipped, we didn't have to ask the owners for anything. It is very warm and the beds are very comfy. Our grandson says he wants to come every year! You can't get better praise than that...!!!

We loved the cottage. The view was 'Wow'. It was in a good location with various beaches, woodland walks and other places of interest within easy reach. The cottage was a good base to return to at the end of the day. It has a super area in the garden for a BBQ. We didn't make much use of it but the games room was well stocked with various activities. Our party consisted of 3 families and there was plenty of room for our 3 cars. It was splendid value for money with everything we needed living up to what we had expected from the website details.

We loved everything about this cottage. It was well equipped with everything including jigsaws, games, toys and spare blankets plus an honesty box for farm produce. The games room was a real bonus and kept us entertained. Probably the best all round holiday let we have stayed in to date.

Tidkinhow Farm is a well equipped holiday cottage, it was warm and comfortable and clean. It has spectacular views from every window, the sea in one direction and the spectacular N.Yorkshire moors in the other. It is ideally situated to visit well known beauty spots like Whitby, Great Ayton and the lovely villages of Lealholm and Goathland on the North Yorkshire moors.

A little piece of heaven. A tranquil haven. Absolutely beautiful. All amenities and attractions a few miles away. The children preferred being at the house and playing in the safe surroundings. Play room a gem of a bonus. Standard of accommodation was top notch. The only down side is you do not want to leave.

Had an excellent time at Tidkinhow Farm for New Year's Eve, great location and beautiful cottage with enough space for us all. Lots of land for the dogs to run around. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The farmhouse was exceptional and we had an amazing break. This excelled all expectations. It was within easy reach of the local area, but also offered seclusion from the outside world with amazing views, so relaxing. It offered everything we needed and more, cant wait to go again.

The cottage is perfectly situated for a peaceful and secluded holiday home from home. It really felt like we were whisked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

An outstanding holiday cottage. It was well equipped and suitable for large families, or as in our case, 2 couples with dogs. It was spacious and close to the beautiful North Yorks countryside. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends.

The farmhouse was very comfortable, spacious and welcoming, with breathtaking views. A fab place to get away from it all. We all enjoyed our weekend stay. It was also great to have an enclosed garden for our dogs.

Excellent location with beautiful scenery and a fantastically equipped & clean property. Particularly liked the properly enclosed rear garden that was ideal for small dogs.

Rated by Mr Barton reviewed on 6th October 2014

A lovely, spacious old farmhouse, restored to a very high standard and with beautiful views over the sea. Seems high up on the moors, yet a track (a little under half a mile), runs to a main route way, so easy travelling to all destinations. There was plenty of seating and it was good to have the extra sitting room. The garden was genuinely dog proofed, it was perfect for our party.

Superb cottage, with wonderful views over the North Yorkshire Moors. You couldn't be made to feel more welcome from the moment you arrive, to when you have to leave. Everywhere we wanted to visit was easily accessible and a pleasure to go to. We'll hopefully be back again soon.

The location of this property is breathtaking, with spectacular views down the glen to the North Sea, the Guisborough Woods, and up to the moors. We were blessed with sunny mornings and afternoons and enjoyed sitting on the patio and enjoying the fresh air. Although it is a rural property, it is ideally located, with quick access to basic services in Guisborough and easy drives to hikes in the North York Moors National Park and the Cleveland Way. We especially enjoyed visiting Saltburn and Whitby, which are quite close, as well as the Kirkleatham Museum. The Fox and Hounds Inn, right down the hill, is a nice location for a delicious meal out. The cottage itself was spacious and comfortable, with good WiFi access that helped us with trip planning and execution. The property managers, located nearby, were charming, helpful, and generous with their time and recommendations.

Rated by Mrs Davison reviewed on 2nd June 2014

The position of Tidkinhow is excellent with glorious views of the Dales. It was very quiet and peaceful, only disturbed by the local fauna, which could not be better. A small oasis.

Rated by Mr Wallace reviewed on 18th May 2014

This property is simply amazing! It felt as if a close relative had prepared the house for my friends and I while not being able to be there with us! The cottage is decorated with taste, the beds are really comfortable, a homemade cake was awaiting us on the kitchen table and the landlady had even thought that we might not have brought milk with us for breakfast as we arrived late at night so she left a small bottle of milk in the fridge. Farm eggs, homemade chutney and logs for the log burners were available to puchase. Besides that, we particularly enjoyed the ping pong table, the view and this feeling of being far from civilisation and pollution that one never experiences when living in a big city. Highly recommended!

Having booked this accommodation from the other side of the world, this place exceeded all expectations. The cottage was very inviting when we arrived and as we were a group of eight, there was ample room to accommodate all. It was immaculately presented and as it was on the edge of the North York Moors, was cozy and warm. It certainly did not disappoint. Although isolated, the hosts had certainly made it a home away from home.

Having booked this holiday home from the other side of the world, this property exceeded all expectations. There was plenty of space for all members of the family and although remote, was the ideal place to have a family reunion. The owners had made a huge effort to make this a home away from home.

The isolated location in a beautiful area was ideal for two blokes away, taking photographs. The accommodation was clean, very comfortable and sensibly furnished for the environment. On a 3 day break we became attached to the property and very quickly felt at home.
