Reviews

Has lovely uninterrupted views over the countryside. The property has been furnished to a high standard, with very comfortable large beds in both rooms. Very clean, the usual essentials were supplied and some lovely little extras which were appreciated. The approach to this property is down a long lane that is quite bumpy. The only downsides were there was no freezer just the freezer compartment at the top of the fridge but we worked round that. The kitchen could do with a few more essentials, for example more cutlery and chopping knives.

My husband and I stayed here at the start of the month with our 1 year old son. I was so excited for this trip as hubby had just came home from deployment so we really needed a good bit of family time. Struggled to find the cottage as directions aren't great. Finally arrived at the cottage and on first opinions we joked that I'd end up in labour due to the single track up to the house being in such a bad state but the cottage looked lovely finally inside we thought first glance it was absolutely beautiful although definitely not child friendly in the slightest be we thought no problem we can do this. The fire in the cottage hadn't been cleaned out from the last people but there was also nowhere to dispose of the ashes and on checking the wood for the fire most of it wasn't useable as it had rusty nails hanging out of it. It felt really cold in the cottage and on checking it was only 16 degree's so I searched the information packet to discover you have no control of the heating or hot water. My poor 1 year old was frozen the first night until I managed to warm the place slightly boosting the bathroom towel rails and leaving all the doors open. By day 4 the house began to smell from the drain in the kitchen and everytime I went to use the bin the smell nearly made me sick so hubby investigated in the bin to discover the whole bin was full of mold at the bottom and at this point we also discovered we had no hot water at all. Hubby and I agree this cottage looks like the owners put alot of work in to it when it was built but unfortunately haven't done a thing to it since meaning skirting boards are falling off flooring by the dinning table is dangerous the bathroom needs re-grouting and nearly every wall/ceiling has massive cracks that needed taking care of. Kitchen is basic and needs some new pieces likes of a chopping board as old one was furry. It's right next to a working farm but this didn't bother us. Unfortunately there wasn't any safe ground for our child to play so ended up paying to park in the village most days so he could play in the local park and burn some energy off. Sadly for us this holiday wast as relaxing as we had hoped and for the first time ever we were glad to be going home. The plus side is that the bed was extremely comfortable.

We have just come back from a weekend at this cottage. We were desperately in need of some time out and to recharge our batteries and we couldn't have found a better place. The cottage is really peaceful with amazing views - a fantastic place to just sit back with a cup of coffee and relax. The owner was lovely and around if we needed anything and there was a lovely welcome tray including a few essentials to get us going. We didn't go very far but there are plenty of places to eat close by although the cottage had everything you might need if you decide to cook there. We will definitely be back.

Just got back from a week at Cottam House Cottage and we loved it. The owners have obviously spent time and money thinking about what people will need and want and it shows. The cottage is spacious, tastefully furnished and very well equipped. The beds deserve a special mention as neither of us have slept that well in months. It's not easy to put into words how stunning the views are, particularly from the lounge, we wasted many a happy hour, just watching all the activity going on in the fields in front of us. I have never seen hares before but to have them sitting outside the patio doors made my week. The location of the cottage means that it really doesn't matter which direction you go as there is always something interesting to see. You can spend entire days out or just a few hours, and there are plenty of walks in and around the cottage itself. I would certainly recommend Cottam House Cottage - just book it.

I cannot put into words how fantasitic Cottam House Cottage is. We live in Germany but were spending Christmas in Lancashire visiting family. Cottam House was close to family, and so ideal. The promotional pictures really do not do this property justice; on arrival we could not believe how perfect this property was. Locality - Longridge accessible by car, 5 min drive. Sainsbury's and Booths supermarkets. Locals pub, The Corporation Arms within walking distance and offers excellent food. The cottage provides stunning views of the Ribble Valley and is well positioned as a starting point for walking along Longridge Fell. On arrival we were given a warm welcome in the form of chocolates and mince pies! The cottage itself was extremely clean with towels and bed linen provided. The kitchen was well equipped. My husband and 2 teenage daughters felt at home right away. The cottage, which has wifi throughout, has a very modern feel; the bathrooms are stylish and the bedrooms too comfortable. A fabulous holiday home in a picturesque location, highly recommended!

I liked everything about my stay here, it was amazing and the property was beautiful with amazing views. I wouldn't have changed anything, it was perfect. Will definitely be back again! The owners are lovely and the way they have done that place up is like a home away from home. Loved my stay.

The cottage has everything, with lots of space and large rooms. The view of the Lancashire countryside is fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the large barn owl that often hovered right outside the window looking for field mice. The location is perfect.

We could not have asked for more. The cottage was beautiful, beyond my expectations. We explored the surrounding areas and found some lovely places to eat. It was handy for a trip to Manchester for the day, but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. We spent some wonderfully cosy lazy nights by the log burner, whilst enjoying the fantastic sound system. The owners were very welcoming and we were made to feel we could ask for help or advice at any time. Highly recommend, I hope to return in the future. Xx

Without a doubt, quality wise, the best holiday 'cottage' I've ever stayed in. It is fitted out like a top quality hotel, there is nothing negative to say. The owners (who live on site) are delightful and very helpful without being intrusive. The location is idyllic with superb views. If you get the opportunity to stay here don't miss it! Lovely walks with superb eating establishments nearby.

Of all the cottages that we have stayed in over the 10 years we have been using Sykes, this ranks as amongst the best that we have ever had, just a lovely place. The owners were particularly friendly. Well worth it and would recommend it to everyone.

The best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. It was very clean with excellent furnishings. We liked it so much we have re-booked already. In a lovely location with beautiful surroundings, very relaxing and peaceful. Oh yes, it had very comfortable beds which is a bonus. Had great local walks and a lovely farm next door which sells freshly laid tasty eggs! The owners were very helpful and friendly. What more can I say! I could go on forever!

Well what can I say, the truth would be a good start a suppose. Cotton House is stunning. The property has been built to the highest standards. The kitchen and living areas are second to none. Well equipped and furnished to a high standard. For example there is a large wood burning stove that keeps you very warm on cold nights and a sonos sound system that you have access to all the music you want though Napster on the IPad that is provided (not to take away lol). The location with views over the countryside and peaceful setting. There are easy access to major routes which makes it so much easier getting he, will travelled two hour to get here and with no stress funding the location. The owners are so nice, loverly people that want to help out where they can. The bedrooms are very spacious and kitted out the a high end. Bathrooms are clean and large, finished to hotel standard. We will be coming back if we can get booked in because everyone has twigged how amazing this place is.

It is so unusual to find holiday rental properties with super-king sized beds. Both bedrooms were so comfortable.

Rated by Mrs Boyce reviewed on 18th November 2014

From the views to the finishing touches in this magnificent barn conversion, we have been wowed by everything. The owners have thought of all aspects of luxury living and even provided a jar of delicious homemade jam in the welcome pack. The huge beds are very comfortable with sumptuous duvets and quality bed linen - so nice to find a property with super king size beds. The fully equipped kitchen and utility room made self-catering a breeze when we didn't take up the suggestions of the hosts as to delicious local eateries. We loved every minute of our stay and can't speak highly enough of what the charming owners have achieved here.
