Highly recommend this beautiful cottage, set in a peaceful hamlet, with a historic church opposite… lots of lovely walks from your doorstep and the most prefect location to visit all of what Shrewsbury has to offer… The cottage is beautifully equipped, a fabulous kitchen with every thing you could think of. The beds all super comfortable… The lounge and log fire was perfect for our group of friends, so specious but cosy at the same time.. . Thanks to Stuart the owner for supplying extra treats …giving sound and friendly advice of the area, he was super lovely and only a phone call away. Will definitely want to return ….

A group of seven of us spent a week in this spacious beautiful secluded house in peaceful Norbury village. Our grandchildren loved the garden and the modern Bbq was well received and used. The facilities were first rate, with comfortable large beds and modern TV and kitchen. I would recommend this lovely house to anyone who wants a holiday in the countryside. The host Mr Abbott was helpful and gives good advice on walks, pubs and places to visit should you require it. A great holiday

We had a truly wonderful week long stay at Abbott's Retreat during February half-term. This is a charming rural idyll set on a slight hill with postcard perfect views to the historic church, pretty cottages and hills beyond. Despite there being six of us (including children, grandparents and our dog) there was plenty of room for us to spread out in the very generously proportioned lounge/dining room. The bedrooms and beds were super comfortable and cosy (yet also spacious) - looking out onto woodland and undulating countryside; it was a delight to observe pheasants wondering around the garden and sometimes horses in the field beyond. The kitchen, like the rest of the property, is beautifully appointed - the owners really have thought of absolutely everything you might need. There were plenty of dog-friendly pubs/restaurants around, serving amazing home-cooked food. We had some wonderful trips out to Bishops Castle, stunning Ludlow and Shrewsbury - but it was coming back to the cottage and firing up the log burner that we all looked forward to each day. The property had some amazing walks, right from the front door, with breathtaking views - although we did keep our dog on a lead due to the abundance of sheep. Be aware that the gardens are not enclosed so not ideal for a dog - but we got around this by taking a very long puppy training lead which we tethered to a chair so he could potter in the garden in safety. Our only niggle concerned the water pressure - the showers were quite weak, but there seems to be a knack to them and we got used to it. Overall, it's a stunning, spotlessly clean property in a beautiful, peaceful location. We loved every minute and all felt 10 years younger by the time we got home!

Fantastic peaceful location. Amazing log burner. Plenty of space for us all. All you could need to have a great time from pots and pans, slow cooker. Comfy beds for all. Everything has been thought of even some games to play. We would return without a doubt. Many thanks for letting us enjoy Abbots Retreat

The location in the charming hamlet of Norbury is superb. Lots of scenic walks and warm, kind people to encounter. The house is perfect; warm, spotless and full of everything you could possibly want. Large hob and spacious kitchen. Lots of outside space and garden furniture and for the cooler evenings a glorious wood burning stove. We stayed in January and had snow so it was like staying in a picture postcard with views across to the beautiful church opposite. I really cannot recommend it highly enough. TOP TIPS? Ask at the farm opposite to buy eggs, (chicken and duck)! And ensure to eat at least twice in the fantastic INN ON THE GREEN just up the road in Wentnor. This really is the best rental we have ever enjoyed and in the most gorgeous location. We'll be back!

Lovely accommodation, they have thought of everything. Well equipped kitchen, clean towels and bedding, laundry facilities, lovely outside space, and a spacious inside. A real plus that it's pet friendly as well. Not too much close by to do etc. so you would need a vehicle with you. The only negative point is that the internet connection was very temperamental and would drop in and out. Other than that, great all round place!

From the moment we arrived and saw the cottage we loved everything about it. Each room had a different colour theme with matching accessories, even the towels in each bedroom were the corresponding colour. Every single thing had been thought of. The wood burning stove was an added bonus. Definitely one of the top cottages we have stayed in.

The home was warm, clean and a true home from home. The little hamlet it was set in was very peaceful and everyone was very friendly. Lots to see and do in the local area. A fantastic time had by all.

Overall the accommodation was excellent. In a great position for exploring the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as the National Trust and English Heritage properties. A fantastic house and gardens in a quiet position near a lovely church. Great for families and those who like us are meeting up with friends from different parts of the country.

This cottage (well, 4 bedroom house actually!) ticks every box. From outside it is stunning and once inside it just gets better. Every detail has been considered. It is pristine and everything you need has been provided from a welcome bottle of wine, eggs and milk to a generous supply of logs for the log fore. It is warm, beautifully decorated and has a welcoming and tranquil atmosphere. I cannot think of anything they could have dome better. The bedrooms are all lovely and the spacious lounge is delightful. I especially liked the vast number of mugs and glasses so no need to wash up until the dish washer is full! Every window gives a great view, from the 2700 year old tree. and the and church yard at the front, to the field with horses and songbirds behind. The property is surrounded by wonderful villages (Bishop's Castle) and magical pubs, as well as walks and plenty to do near by. We spent most of our time at the Inn on The Green in Wentnor, and at Minsterly Ranges for Clay Pigeon Shooting. We will definitely be back - if only we can get booked in! The word is out! No spaces till November!

A really lovely cottage. When I spoke to the owner before the holiday he was really friendly and gave lots of helpful suggestions of places to visit. The cleaner had done a great job too, and there were various provisions that had been left for us to use if we'd forgotten any key essentials. A lovely week.

The Cottage is fantastic, there is everything you could want and need plus more. The Clearview fire is amazing, just what you need on a cold winters day. The surrounding areas to the cottage are beautiful, plenty of picturesque countryside to be explored. Our little girl and dog loved being outside, seeing the animals that live locally. You really will not be disappointed. The peace and quiet is just what we wanted and we loved every second of it. The cottage is really well maintained and is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. Would recommend to all.

The Abbots Retreat cottage is located in Norbury, a very peaceful hamlet in a beautiful farmland setting. The cottage is newly renovated and fully equipped with high quality furniture and fittings. The rooms are spacious and well decorated. The surrounding areas provide an abundance of walks and historical places of interest. My family ( 8) stayed at the cottage for 2 weeks (including 3 young children) and everyone had a great time. We would highly recommend this cottage, great value for money.
