The cottage looks nice but is not so clean. The bathtub was dirty and the pillowcases hadn't been changed, I found hair on the pillowcases which didn't belong to us. The most uncomfortable/awkward moment was when we met the lady who cleaned the house. On the last day, we had done the luggage and followed the instructions which were left in the kitchen and we went for a last walk before 10 a.m. We came back at 10:11 min and the lady who cleaned the house was already in, we had the luggage left in the living room. We greeted her politely while we were taking the luggage out and she started screaming at us, I thought that something really bad happened, and I panicked. She was extremely upset because even if we added the dishes to the dishwasher we didn't press them firmly enough for the dishwasher to start washing. She was extremely rude, screaming and acting crazy, if we hadn't had the taxi to the airport ordered I would have stayed to file a complaint about this nonsense, rude behaviour. I need to mention that we use the cottage mostly in the late evenings/nights, during the day we have been out every day, we haven't partied, we haven't brought people over we just needed a clean, decent and quiet place to use for three nights.
A really great cottage in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. It is difficult to think of any way in which it could improved. We had a lovely week, our boys enjoyed staying there and we will return. Highly recommended.
I have just returned from a 3 night stay with 2 friends it’s in a brilliant location. The cottage was very clean ( it’s a pet friendly cottage but no signs of dogs being there in the past) and had everything we needed for a fabulous weekend. would highly recommend this cottage and I will definitely be booking it again.
This is a great place to use as a base for visiting the surrounding area. You don't even need to drive anywhere as there is so much on the doorstep! The cottage itself is very well kept, with lovely decor and very clean. Spread over three floors it feels cosy but not cramped. We stayed with our 6 year old who absolutely loved being on the top floor, where there is a fantastic view across the hills. Even though pets are allowed it did not smell doggy and there did not appear to be any animal hairs anywhere (we don't have a dog and I am allergic so very aware of these things). The owners were easy to deal with and very helpful. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage and will consider staying again in the future.
A really central cottage ...just unload your car on the doorstep and go park your car and forget it's there for a week ...lovely walks from the doorstep....very dog friendly place ..pubs shops and cafes ...very welcoming ...small private courtyard at back ...but you don't need a garden when you have all this beautiful countryside around....relaxing and cosy
The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable the view over the Lune Valley from the top bedroom was lovely we discovered it included a small part of Ruskins View which is a must to see The location couldn't have been better just a minute from Main Street The owner also was very accommodating when we had a small problem close to leaving for our holiday. We will definitely consider returning next year
Fantastic cottage in super clean condition and in an excellent position for exploring the town. Our fourth stay here this year and can't wait to come back.
It was a delightful cottage in a lovely small market town with lots of character. The local walks were a pleasure.
We have just returned from a week staying in this lovely cottage. I would highly recommend Back Cottage and would certainly book it again. There was plenty of space for 4 of us plus our young dog who also had a blast. The cottage is in a superb location, just seconds away from all the pubs, shops and other treats Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer. It's also a great start to a number of short walks around the town, taking in Ruskin's View, Devil's Bridge and the River Lune. The cottage is well equipped, seemed to have everything we required, has a great views from the top floor bedroom and was really quiet despite being close to the town centre. It was our first holiday with our dog and she was equally at home - happy to curl up into a heap in the lounge after a nice walk. Would book again if we have another week in Kirkby Lonsdale.
A perfect cottage in the perfect location.
Had a lovely stay at Back Cottage. It has everything you need and is ideally situated for access to the town and lovely walks by the river. Looking forward to returning at some stage.
We have just had a great week in this lovely cosy cottage. It is situated in a quiet lane yet only 100 yards from the main shopping area of Kirkby Lonsdale with its lovely pubs and cafes. The cottage is a credit to its owners with nice fixtures and fittings and everything you could want for a nice break. Could not wish for anything more and look forward to coming again. One note of caution is that although traffic is minimal (one car every half hour or so), once you step out of the front door you are in the road !
