The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
I cannot recommend this cottage enough. So cozy and welcoming. The goats and donkeys were also very welcoming and my 2 children couldn’t wait to feed them apple slices and carrots each morning. Very close to Ashbourne which was such a find - full of lovely shops and cafes.
Have stayed in both dover barn and bluebird cottage, fantastic location for some lovely places to visit, tissington, milldale, dovedale, parwich all very close.both the cottage and the barn are well equipped and very clean, warm and comfortable.the farm is quiet and on a road with little traffic.the owners live on site but unless you need them you would not know they were there.we shall most certainly be staying again.
This was a return visit for us, we adore this property. Bluebird cottage itself is well equipped with everything you need and is well presented throughout. It has a large kitchen diner that leads on to a nice sitting room with TV and DVD player. There is then a door out to the secure walled garden that is shared with thy holiday cottage next door. The garden is huge. Upstairs there is a very big master bedroom, a twin and a nice bath room. The cottage is great and is situated on the yard of the farm. There are goats, horses, donkies, sheep, farm dogs and a cat. Our children adore them all and love feeding and stroking them, my son cried when we left. The owners are the best we have had when staying in cottages. They make you so welcome. They answered the thousands of questions my son had about every aspect on the farm and genuinely enjoy having guests. In summary the cottage is great but the holiday is made by the people and the animals. We will definitely be back next year
We booked the Cottage for 3 nights in December for New year break. The stay was indeed pleasant with superb clean rooms, lots of amenities and resources for self Catering. The Owners were very Welcome and I would highly recommend this Cottage.
We had a fabulous time at Bluebird Cottage. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage itself is large, well designed and very comfortable. It's a real home from home. The garden is great and very safe for children. Lots to do in the local area that's free or cheap. We will be retuning in future years.
Absolutely loved this cottage and the owners couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Had a fantastic time, highly recommended!
Bluebird Cottage is in a beautiful cottage in a quiet location. Owners very pleasant and welcoming. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Great fun becoming friends with the donkeys and horse.
Bluebird Cottage was surprisingly spacious, yet cosy and very warm.
Bluebird Cottage is a thoughtful and stylish stable conversion, done to a high standard. It was tastefully furnished with very comfortable beds. The water was piping hot at all times which was very welcome after walking all day. The cottage was warm & cosy with lovely views over the rolling Peak District. The donkeys kept us amused - they are lovely. We enjoyed EVERYTHING about our stay in Bluebird Cottage.
Had very friendly owners, nothing was too much trouble. A lovely cottage in a good position - it was nice & quiet but central to many attractions. There is always something to do in the area whatever the weather. There are also some lovely country pubs to eat in.
The location of the cottage was superb, not far off a main road but we felt far from the madding crowd. It was quiet and tranquil but close to a lot of major tourist sites and walking trails. The owners could not have been better, they were helpful but not intrusive. There were lots of walks straight from the door. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and cosy. The donkeys were a delight! We had a brilliant week.
We loved staying here over new year 2015. The cottage is much bigger than the photos suggest and everything is in great condition. The bedrooms were excellent and the kitchen and lounge had everything we needed. The property was nice and warm which was good as there was plenty of snow outside. Excellent location near bakewell and dovedale. We did a great walk around carsington water too.
We had a great time! The location was perfect in between Ashbourne and Bakewell. The property was much bigger than we had imagined and we also much nicer than what we had expected from looking at the photos on the website. It was very cosy and had plenty of space and we were very impressed with the decoration. The kitchen was very well equipped and we couldn't have asked for anything more. We would love to stay again!
Bluebird Cottage is an amazing cottage, lovely owner and we will be going back cottage. It is beautiful, warm and welcoming and we would highly recommended.
Cottage was excellent. we have been renting cottages for many years and this was one of the best so far. The owners were very helpful and friendly. I would recomend blue bird cottage to anybody.
The cottage was well presented and had a very high standard of cleanliness throughout. It was easy to maintain tidiness and cleanliness, as there was so little clutter. The rooms are of a good size and easy to relax in. Beautiful views from all aspects, no traffic noise and easy to access places to visit in the area. The owners are friendly and helpful. A lovely place which we will look forward to visiting again.
The cottage was in a lovely location and our hosts were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. There was lots to see and do in the area and we particularly loved the donkeys!. We will definitely be visiting again.
Bluebird cottage was fantastic - right in the Peak District on a lovely farm. The children loved watching the tractors in the field and feeding carrots to the donkeys every morning. The pictures don't do the cottage justice - it is really lovely and perfect for exploring all the sights of the Peak District. The owners were helpful and available if needed but essentially left us to it to enjoy - it was bliss!
We have been renting cottages for many years and this was one of the best we have had. The owners made us very welcome and we made friends with the 4 donkeys and cat. We will definitely recommend this cottage to our friends. Also the surrounding area was so very peaceful.
The cottage is well placed to reach all the attractions of the Peak District. We took our grandsons aged 7 and 5 and they loved feeding the donkeys. The cottage is nice and homely.
The welcome was friendly and the cottage was immaculately clean and immediately comfortable. It's size belied it's ability to easily accommodate 4 adults. The kitchen was well equipped and again pristine in its cleanliness. A lovely quiet position with ample parking and easy access to the peak district. I had forgotten that it was currently only graded 3* and would easily rate it 4*plus. We will definitely be using it again.
The cottage was perfect for a group of four. There was enough of everything, it smelt clean and being on a farm didn't cause problems. The farm is clean and the donkeys charming. We will be back.
A very clean, modern, warm place to stay with the benefit of WiFi. It was a good place to visit the surrounding towns of Buxton and Bakewell.
A beautifully furnished and extremely clean cottage. Very friendly owners who even left a pint of milk for us on arrival. Beautiful location, everything we wished for and more!
Bluebird cottage was a delight to stay in. It was extremely well-equipped and comfortable. and the owners were friendly without being intrusive. The cottage was in a quiet location but ideally situated for visits to Dovedale, Ashbourne, Bakewell, and Matlock.
The cottage is warm and relaxing. The farm is very quiet and welcoming. We loved the cottage, and would definitely book it again if we returned to the area.
This was the best cottage we have stayed in with regards to comfort, warmth, cleanliness and helpfulness from the owners. The cottage was also well equipped, and we had everything we needed. Good position for exploring the area on foot and on cycle. We particularly liked the animals on the farm.
Very good quality cottage, very clean. Peaceful and quiet.
We could not have asked for better or more comfortable furnishings and equipment. The cottage was ideally situated in peaceful surroundings, but had easy and quick access to the areas for which the Peak District is renowned. The hosts were helpful but not intrusive, and we will definitely return to Bluebell Cottage.
The cottage was very cosy and clean. The surrounding of the cottage is peaceful and pleasant.
Lovely accommodation, excellent location, very friendly owners, cannot fault anything.
Gorgeous cottage, in wonderful setting. Comfortable and clean cottage, a good base for exploring the Peak District. Loved it all!
We stayed here for a week with our two children (5 and 8 years) at the end of July 2011. The cottage (attached to the owner's farmhouse) was well presented and had everything we needed (in the kitchen too). The location was very peaceful and beautiful. The owners were very friendly and helpful; not at all overbearing and were happy for our children to feed fruit and veg to their two donkeys and two cows in the field opposite. We shall book with them again.
Peace and quiet and rural setting yet not far from various attractions in the Peak District National Park. Lovely cottage and kind owners.
Easy to find, off the main road and very peaceful.
A good location. Cottage was clean and well equipped. Owners very welcoming.
Everything about this cottage was to a very high standard and to be commended for all the criteria listed above. We would not hesitate in recommending this cottage as one of the best in Derbyshire.
Very cosy and well equipped accommodation in beautiful setting.
We enjoyed the location, convenient for exploring the region - surrounded by fields but, being joined to the owner's farmhouse, it did not feel isolated. The cottage faced a concrete yard, field and barns (rustic - not chocolate box so could do with 'softening' a bit for holiday purposes - grassy garden behind (didn't use this so don't know if it would have suited families). The cottage was charming and larger than expected. We took advantage of a slight discount but on arrival realised it was probably given as the adjacent barn was being converted into a cottage - it would not have deterred us but would have appreciated knowing that in advance. As we were using the cottage as a base for exploring the region it didn't inconvenience us but may have done if we were planning just a quiet retreat. We would be happy to go back again.
Friendly hosts, beautiful countryside and loved the donkeys. Very comfortable accommodation.
Lovely hosts next-door!
We had an amazing weekend away and Bluebird Cottage made it extra special. A lovely little cottage in beautiful countryside.
We booked for a weekend in Alton Towers for a friend's 30th and the icing on the cake was this gorgeous (not so) little cottage. It has lovely size rooms but is very cosy and warm and very clean. The owners were very helpful and left some essentials ready for us for when we arrived. The donkeys were an added bonus and we enjoyed feeding them. The perfect little place to go 'home' to after a day out or to relax in if you fancy a chilled day. (Just for reference there is no iron or ironing board.)
A very comfortable cottage, excellent value. The children enjoyed talking to the donkeys and I enjoyed the peaceful surroundings.
The property was excellent and the children really loved feeding the donkeys. The hosts were lovely and it really felt like we were staying in someone's home.
Comfortable surroundings in lovely countryside. Easy access to walks.
The property is well placed for touring the area, and the cottage was always clean and tidy. The owners were also friendly.
The owners were very helpful and right next door. The property is in a quiet location within easy reach of attractions. An ideal base for walkers and for cycling in the Peaks countryside.
The cottage was lovely and clean. The owners were friendly but discreet. The views from the windows were great and the overall package made for a relaxing break. We really enjoyed our stay at Bluebird Cottage.
. Excellent service ...extra supplies were provided when needed on first night. . Delightful old cottage, well modernised with all mod cons (though I would have liked a washing machine) . Wonderful country walks direct from house, plus immediate access to one of England's finest rural regions. eg. Minninglow Hill. . We loved the pet donkeys; Parwich village (close by)is one of the prettiest we've seen, with a lovely family run pub (housing the village store). Great food. . Regular bus (Ashbourne - Buxton) is 1/2 mile away which we availed ouselves of when without our car for two days. . Highly recommended.
Very well presented cosy cottage, perfectly clean, stylish decor and well equipped. All that we needed was there. Lovely nature, convenient location and very relaxing. We all liked the donkeys. The owners were caring but not intrusive and overall we very happy.
Friendly host and immaculate property. Relaxed and handy location for all tourist destinations
It was very peaceful and hassle free. The owners were very pleasant. The cottage was one of the nicest, warmest places we have stayed. We loved the Donkeys!
The local village, Parwich, is a gem. There were numerous walks over public footpaths in the area, many sights to see and pubs with excellent food within close proximity. The owners of the property are very approachable, friendly and genuine people.
It was in a lovely quiet spot with good views of the countryside and not far from the main road to Matlock and Ashbourne. The owners were very nice and I would be happy to come again.
Very friendly and helpful owners, to us as well as to the children. Quiet and peaceful place. Beauty of the scenery.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bluebird Cottage. The cottage is clearly extremely well looked after; very clean and tidy with all we could possibly need for our stay. We loved the rural location and the owners' friendly pets. We received a very warm welcome upon arrival and found the owners to be extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay without being intrusive.
The area is so quiet and peaceful. It is very refreshing. Great walks nearby, charming villages and cycle hire in the vicinity. The cottage was so clean, we felt as though we were the first people to enjoy it!
We loved this cottage that has everything you could possibly need. Alovely couple that own the farm and a great welcome. Great walks from here and it snowed which made our xmas extra special. We would definately go back.
Everything was absolutely lovely, it was very relaxing and I would love to try it out again. I loved the scenery around the cottage and the cottage itself was beautiful.
We have just spent Christmas at Bluebird Cottage in the snow and we absolutely loved it! We loved the peace and quiet and there are picturesque views from every window. The cottage was very comfortable and warm and it was very well equipped with everything that we needed. In a great location in the middle of the Peak District, with great walks near by and only a short drive to the lovely market town of Ashbourne. We will definately be returning!
Very warm and cosy cottage on a working farm with very friendly owners. Great location with plenty to do nearby.
The cottage was well situated to access all the outstanding attractions and amenities of the Peak District, which we had never visited before. There were plenty of information leaflets and books to help us make the most of our stay. The owners were very welcoming, with tea and biscuits on arrival, and the property was well appointed and spotlessly clean.
Very clean, everything needed was provided and the owners were most welcoming. Qiuet but only a short drive to the main ashbourne to Buxton road. The pub The Jug and Glass a couple of miles towards Buxton do very good meals at sensible prices.
Clean and peaceful and a good base for outings.
The standard of the cottage exceeded our expectations as the photographs did not do it justice. It is a newly refurbished and cosy conversion in a central location for many attractions.
The cottage is ideal for those who want to get away from it all.
The cottage was wonderful and the owners were very helpful. It was exactly what we wanted and we hope to book the cottage again in a couple of months time. It was really nice to be greeted with a tea/coffee tray with biscuits, and milk in the fridge - just what we needed after a long journey!
The owner of the property were very helpful with the directions to local attractions, and helped us out of the snow roads. The Christmas tree in the sitting room was a lovely homely touch we didn't expect... Thanks
The property was superb & exceeded our expectations. The owners were very helpful & friendly. It was an excellent base for a walking weekend in a very peaceful location.
