Ideally placed for exploring northern Cumbria, the hamlet of Milton is close to all of the region's most popular attractions including Hadrians Wall, the Solway Firth coast and the Lake District National Park. The nearby market town of Brampton dates back to the Roman occupation, and shows evidence of attacks from Scottish border raiders and Jacobite uprisings. Apparently, the Scottish Bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton, now a shop. Just a few miles away is Talkin Tarn Country Park, covering 180 acres - 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Slightly further south is Gelt Woods, an ancient forest along the banks of the River Gelt.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
Absolute waste of money arrived friday the 7th sep at 245 pm left 3pm,very dated cooker broken ceramic hob smashed corner, kickboards broken, kitchen hot tap didn't work, toilet flush broken, hadnt been cleaned for our arrival, the hot tub shows its sole for you in your own space but it is not it is in a small corner of the garden for all to use the owner told us there is normally a charge for the use but since the water jets dont work we could have it free, also the wooden summer house is riddled with damp floor covered in leaves, so this was very dissapeointng left and managed to get booked 20 mins further and this place was 10x better, would never ever recommend this to anyone
Just got back from a lovely long weekend with my friends we all had a brilliant time relaxing and just enjoying the beautiful surroundings would highly recommend it and the fact that we got to hold and feed the new born lamb's was just fantastic will definitely be going back with my grandchildren next time
The accommodation was fantastic, warm and comfortable. The hot tub was amazingly hot and clean, we were in it every night, even the snow didn't put us off. There was lots to see and do in the area and a very good taxi service close to hand to take us back from being in the pub. We will be going back in the summer I hope.
The owners were a delightful couple and were very concerned that we had all our requirements met. They were also keen to give us the benefit of their knowledge of the area. The cottage was extremely comfortable and the beds were great. The surrounding countryside was beautiful and there were plenty of opportunities for long walks.
Loved it all, will visit again.
It was a lovely comfortable cottage and the travel around the region was good. We got to see many more places than I expected when planning the holiday.
It was a lovely cottage with extremely comfortable beds. Beautifully clean upon arrival and a good amount of space generally.
Loved the hot tub. and the cottage was lovely. Easy access to loads of attractions. Very welcoming - felt like home.
Loved the wood burning stove and hot tub. The owner was lovely and welcoming and her knowledge of places of local interest was excellent. Cranstons in Brampton nearby was a first class butcher. His fillet steaks and duck breasts in spicy plum sauce were the best. We were very close to the hot tub and being in close proximity to Hadrian's Wall and the Lakes made it perfect place to stay.
Loved the log fire and the hot tub and how spacious the rooms were. A very relaxing time.
We arrived to an open fire on a cold night which was lovely, the owner gave us some local walks, shops and site-seeing information which was greatly appreciated. The cottage was clean, tidy and warm - we had a great holiday with lovely walks, with our dog, in the forest across the road.
We had a great weekend, greeted on arrival, the wood burner was already on so was lovely and warm. The cottage was close to the big Talkin Tarn country park which we walked a few times, the dogs loved it. We will be back because this was an ideal location for us.
We loved the fact that even though we managed to pick one of the worst weekends for weather, we still managed to have a lovely time. The log burner in the living room was lovely, and there is a new tv which accepts usb for films. Also next to the hot tub is a little hut, with jigsaws, dvd's and a cross trainer. We will definitely be returning"
Everything was as advertised, the owners were friendly and the accommodation was nice and kept in good order. The hot tub was a nice touch. All in all an enjoyable experience.
This holiday was full of relaxation, and this was due to the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners; they were fantastic. The place itself was great, and we cannot wait to come back and spend some more time exploring the lovely surroundings.
Lovely cottage, and very welcoming and obliging owner. Excellent walks from the cottage and other great walks within easy driving distance.
The cottage was beautifully designed in lovely gardens, and the rooms were very spacious and clean. The hot tub and the log fire made the perfect little extras for our break. I found our stay very relaxing and peaceful. The owner was extremely helpful.
Everything was lovely the lady was very helpful was very relaxing would love to go back in the future

Lovely location, friendly owner. Property was exactly as described.
Nice location, friendly service, ideal base location for attractions. Nice spa. Quite secluded.
Setting, people were friendly helpful.
The location of the cottage was very good as it was near Hadrian's Wall which we wanted to explore.
Lovely welcome from the owner. Lots of local information was given. Loved the stove in the sitting room - very cosy. Overall this property is an ideal place for anyone who wants to get away from it all.
There is a lovely forest nearby which is excellent for walking dogs or just generally going for a walk. The owner is also particularly friendly and helpful.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was home from home, very comfortable and relaxing. I also found it's location suitable to explore Cumbria and the North Lakes.
We found it to be a lovely, cosy and friendly place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful, highly recommended
I was super impressed with this cottage the pictures really don't do it justice. The lady who owns the property was fantastic; even though it was late at night she had lit the fire for us and waited up to give us the key. I did not want to leave it was so cosy. Thanks.
The location and the property were perfect for us. The wood burner and logs made it feel so homely. The decking was lovely, the gardens leading to the property a picture. The bathroom had a huge bath and separate shower. A welcome of milk and wine along with a basket of logs were provided.
The byre was clean and cosy and we were made most welcome with our dog.we did not find the railway a problem at all,but the close loation to the main road was a wee bit disconcerting when walking the dog early morning and evening.the pavement tends to be non existant in places.
Great holiday with a excellent cottage. Looking to book up next year!
The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and a nice bottle of wine was in the fridge to welcome us. Walked the dog every morning at Talkin Tarn which is a five minute drive away.
Lovely welcome from owners, very helpful, extra touches. 'Huntingtons Restaurant' in Brampton serve very good food, very friendly.
