Location Details

The village of Polgooth is now a quiet settlement on the outskirts of St. Austell, but has a history of tin mining. Frequented by visitors to the local countryside, this lovely settlement is located just three miles from the sea. The wider area also offers a wide variety of visitor attractions, including the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Tall Ships Harbour at Charlestown – all of which are within a 15 minute drive. The fishing harbour at Mevagissey is also nearby and allows visitors to take a passenger ferry across the bay to Fowey, just five miles away. Also within easy reach are the beautiful Roseland Peninsula villages of St. Mawes and St. Just-in-Roseland. With coastal walks, sandy beaches and beautiful towns, Polgooth is ideally placed for a fantastic family holiday.

Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.

Well what can I say about this place other than amazing we are a crazy bunch and had the most fantastic time . The owners were more than helpful tea coffee milk sugar. Eggs oh and prosceco on arrival were there for our every need. Really was a lovely bonding family experience and would recommend. We go to Cornwall 3-4 times a year and st Austell is excessable to everywhere. What a stunning village local shop and pub walking distance. The views from the property were stunning and the fire place stone walls inside the cottage (large cottage may i ad) was just perfect. Can’t wait to go again faultless dx

With an indoor swimming pool a few yards from the front door this compact studio has everything you could need especially if the weather is unfriendly. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and the location is very central for all local ameneties like Heligan gardens and the Eden Project.Studio is not large but plenty big enough for a couple and much better than staying at a Travelodge or Premier Inn for example.Welcome pack of eggs, milk,Prosecco etc was much appreciated.

Family week away for 50th Birthday celebrations! 6 Adults 2 Children. Lovely large house, beautiful gardens & surrounding countryside and a fab swimming pool! We all had a great time during our weeks stay here. Plenty of toys and games for the children, they absolutely loved the pool and lots of space for them to run around outside. We cycled the Pentewan cycle route which was beautiful (5 mins down the road)(bike hire is available) would make a lovely walk also, taking you to Pentewan beach, where there is body board/paddle board hire and a nice little restaurant. We spent most of our evenings in the conservatory which was very relaxing or outside after a bbq tea. The House is beautiful, very spacious, very clean. Lovely welcome goodies on arrival, owners very friendly and there if you need them. Plenty of towels and everything you would need - we asked to hire a cot & highchair which saved us bringing our own which was a great help! 10 mins from The lost gardens of Heligan, which was a lovely day out and not too far from Newquay. Would definitely return! :-)

What an absolutely amazing property with a perfect location. Everything in every room is high end luxury yet it's so welcoming and well thought through you really fell homely there. The indoor heated swimming pool was extremely clean and well designed, the children loved it. The accommodation is exactly as shown. Ample space for 10 of us and meals and evening fun was easy to organise with the double kitchen and separate dining area. Amazing views from bedrooms across the surroundings, so peaceful and stunning. Hosts had thought of everything. We was sad to leave but we would return again without question.

Chapel Green is a good sized house allowing four families plenty of their own space. The property has a safe garden for the children. It is in a great location, which allows for easy access to most of Cornwall. The owners were very nice.

The property is absolutely stunning. We all had so much space and were never under each other's feet! Everyone had such a relaxed and fun time. There was lots of food, drink and laughter - just what the doctor ordered! I would definitely recommend this to others and will definitely return. We didn't want to leave!

The house was very comfortable and furnished to very high standard. In particular the bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms were great, and had a homely feel to them. The village was very picturesque, there were lovely walks and it was in proximity to great beaches and coastal walks. We didn't want to go home, had a great family break and will be recommending to family and friends.

This property is the best one that I have ever stayed in. I have stayed in many different places over the years, and can honestly say that this is true. It is really and truly beautiful. It was clean, spacious and beautifully furnished with lovely surroundings and plenty of parking. Everything was perfect. A big thank you to the owners who made us so welcome and were so friendly on our arrival.

There aren't enough words of praise for this particular property, it's location or the owners. We were greeted by the owners, shown around and made to feel extremely welcome and comfortable. The property itself is vast and the photographs really do not do its cosy yet spacious feel justice. Being in such a secluded and beautiful spot was such a treat and made it easier to relax, yet at the same time we were central to all the sights Cornwall has to offer. As soon as we arrived, we knew it would be tough to leave - even the dog was sorry to say goodbye, and we can't wait to book this exact property again for all these reasons and more.

The house is beautifully spacious, with plenty of room for our party of 10. A lovely conservatory where the adults could hang out while the children were rampaging in the sitting room/gym - when we were not sitting in the garden. The owners, who live on site, are absolutely lovely, very helpful but not intrusive and very laid back. The kitchen is extremely well equipped - more than enough of everything. The Aga was very popular. A convenient location for lots of lovely beaches and easy access to other parts of Cornwall. We had a great holiday.

Rated by Mrs Broadway reviewed on 11th August 2014

We stayed here end of May beginning of June, i meant to review earlier but things been a bit hectic with wedding plans lol. Anyway holiday at Chapel Green was fabulous, owners were so friendly but not over bearing. Cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed, especially the conservatory which was a wonderful place to sit and eat breakfast, lunch or just to relax in the evenings. It is near enough to tourist sites to not have to drive too far, but is also away from all the hustle and bustle so great to relax. We took our jack russell terrier and she soon settled after exploring the garden and then choosing her seat also in the conservatory lol. Access to shop and pub is a bit of a walk back to cottage but food in pub is worth the climb.

Beautiful, spacious house, in a great location with loads to see really nearby. The Eden project is just 15 minutes drive away and the charming Pentewan Sands and Mevagissey even nearer. We have fallen in love with Cornwall!

Chapel Green was a great place to stay at and as a base to visit the local small towns and harbours. The gym was a favourite with the older children and teenagers, as was the wi-fi connection. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. A welcome surprise were the wine, orange juice and milk in the fridge on arrival. We also made use of the gas barbecue a few evenings.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 19th October 2011

Upon arrival we were greeted by the owners of the cottage, lovely people, they gave us a guided tour of the premises and left in the kitchen was a bottle of wine and chocolates, a lovely thought. The house was very comfortable, spacious, home from home, ideal for a large family, pets are welcomed with open arms. Linen provided in abundance, conservatory overlooks wonder views of the forest like setting, lots of ground to the property, all round a fabulous place for a holiday. The location is great as a starting place to explore Cornwall, if you don't mind walking, there is a nice walk down to the village shops, pub which serves very good food, supermarkets are but a short ride away. Restaurants, places to visit are easily reached from here, great as a base. The house is full of games for children, if you are a book worm, there are loads of books to read. The kitchen is well equipment, AGa stove takes a little getting use to if not used before, there is also a convensional cooker in the utility room, you couldn't want for anything else. The whole holiday was fantastic, the only minor dislike about the property is that the kitchen is a little on the dark side if the sun is shining into the conservatory, other than that there is nothing to be found fault with this property what so every, plus it is being extended to cater for even bigger families. Ground floor facilities would be ideal for someone who has difficulty with negotiating stairs, albeit not steep stairs, very slight climb. It also holds a small gym upstairs for those who are fitness freaks and miss their daily workout. You wouldn't wish for more.

The property was excellent- it easily accommodated 8 of us and considering that 2 of them were large, moody male 17 year olds, that was a miracle! The self contained kitchen/utility and conservatory were brilliant for our 2 Springers.
