Kenmare is a pretty town set on Kenmare Bay, overlooking the glittering Atlantic Ocean. This area is filled with lovely scenery, good beaches, and fascinating wildlife, making Kenmare a great base for exploring the surrounding region. The town itself has a farmers market, art galleries, boutique shops and some excellent restaurants. The fabulous National Park at Killarney is just over half an hours drive from Kenmare, and Killarney town offers amenities, attractions and festivals throughout the year.
County Kerry is a mystical and unspoilt part of Ireland, with spectacular natural beauty and a fascinating history. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, it features many sandy beaches, rocky inlets and stunning peninsulas.
The owner was an excellent host, she did everything to make our stay excellent. This was the best equipped Sykes cottage we have rented. There was plenty of room to store our food there was a salad spinner which delighted my wife. The house looks small from the front but it is very spacious inside.
Millfield is ideally situated for seeing the Ring of Kerry, the Beara Peninsular and West Cork. The house is very comfortable and spacious with large bedrooms. It is also extremely well equipped with all you need for a self catering holiday. There is a 10-15 minute stroll, via a well lit short-cut, into Kenmare which is a lovely, lively town with lots of pubs, restaurants and shops. Another plus is the house now has Wi-Fi. Gail met us at the house, she's a delightful lady and left us the best welcome pack we've had on our many self catering holidays. Well done and thank you Gail.
Very easy arrangements to arrive and a lovely warm welcome. The house is very spacious, spotlessly clean, furnished very comfortably with more than enough of everything we could have wanted. All fitments were nice quality. Brilliant location for the Rings of Beara and Kerry. Kenmare was still bustling in late November with plenty of choice of places to eat. Easy drive from Kerry Airport. One of the best places we have stayed.
Millfield is in a perfect location for touring the south and the Ring of Kerry. Kenmare is a wonderful little town full of friendly people and unique shops. Plenty of pubs and restaurants. The house was clean and nicely furnished and the fireplace was wonderful after a day of exploring.
The perfect location to explore the south! This home is located about a block off the Ring of Kerry. The town of Kenmare is beautiful and the people are friendly. The house was much bigger than we expected and would be perfect for a family trip. Everything in the house was perfect! And Gail was so helpful! I would HIGHLY recommend staying here! Also dont worry about the heat and electric cost, it was cold during our stay and it cost us less than $20 :)
Millfield exceeded our expectations.
We had a wonderful family holiday at Millfield. Booking and correspondence with Gail, the owner, was easy and everything was as advertised. Gail gave us a really warm welcome and the welcome pack of both essentials and treats was very much appreciated. The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfy and equipped to a very high standard with plenty of space for us all to chill out. As we were lucky enough to have a very good weather the garden was really appreciated. Millfield's in a great location just a 10/15 minute stroll into Kenmare and right on the Ring of Kerry with its spectacular views and access to Killarney and the Beara Peninsular - lots of places to visit. Kenmare offers lots of shops, cafes and restaurants but it was just a stroll down the road to the lovely Rose Garden cafe - a great place to enjoy coffee and cake (and free wifi!). We would definitely recommend Millfield.
We were warmly greeted by the owner who showed us round. There were printouts of local attractions and beauty sports, manuals for the washing machine, tumble drier and dish washer. The cottage was clean and comfortable. There is very good parking. Our only criticism was the small double bed which had a very hard mattress, which spoil our stay. The only other thing is that the owner charges for electricity used (at 22 cents per unit) and the oil for the central heating is charged at (I think) 98 cents per litre. The owner explained the charges were because some people had abused the original “all inclusive” charge, which is understandable.
Very clean and spacious house. A very friendly owner who gave us lots of information. House well situated near the town. Would recommend to anyone.
We truly had the luck of the Irish with us when we stumbled upon this gem of a house for our vacation in the South West of Ireland. Everything about this place was great- the ample kitchen, the 2 1/2 bathrooms, the cosy fireplace, the great fixtures and finishes and the comfortable bedrooms were all nicer than the online pictures conveyed. The owner has quite a collection of literature about everything to do in the region, and we found ourselves routinely using these references to help us explore this great country. One of our favourite parts of staying here was that when we returned at the end of the day, it was nice to take a stroll into Kenmare and enjoy all that the wonderful town has to offer. We really could not ask for any improvement on any front! Thanks again for a great stay, and we would not even consider staying anywhere else if we were to return to the area!

Absolutely beautiful accommodation with everything you possibly would require. Wonderful warm reception from Gail. Kenmare is a beautiful, friendly town with lots of excellent places to eat, drink and enjoy the irish hospitality. Excellent base for touring the ring of Kerry which has stunning scenery. Accommodation within a 10 minute walk from the town center. We will definitely be returning again in the future.
Our holiday at Millfield could not have been better. From the warm welcome to the extra touches for the holidays - Christmas tree and decorations - we felt right at home immediately. All the information and suggestions we could possibly need or want were available to help with our plans. Fire wood and turf were laid on for cosy fires and a welcoming bottle of wine made the transition to vacation-mode complete.
Millfield is a beautifully kept and equipped property, spacious, warm and a joy to stay in. Gail the owner was really friendly and welcoming and we had an amazing holiday to celebrate my 60th birthday. I've always wanted to visit Ireland most especially Cork and the far west and everything lived up to it's reputation. Gail's hospitality and welcome epitomised the friendliness of the Irish people and the town of Kenmare was a revelation with its location, lively culture, excellent bars and restaurants and magnificent scenery. Come to Kenmare and stay at Millfield - I guarantee you a wonderful holiday.
Beautiful Ireland, fabulous weather, great food, wonderful people, and excellent accommodation, with the warmest of welcomes. Best holiday ever.
An extraordinaire accommodation with no wishes left. The owner Mrs. O'Sullivan was helpful with everything,
A lovely property, charming owner, perfect location.
We have used the property before and it matched our needs perfectly. The owner is friendly and very helpful.
Wonderful accommodation.
This is an outstanding property with ample accommodation to sleep 5 comfortably. The house is equipped to a very high level with no requirement omitted. The house is prepared and cleaned exceptionally. The location is perfect with a ten minute walk via a lit footpath to central Kenmare. This not a house on a "ghost development" but half of two semi-detached houses in their own environment which includes front and rear gardens. Perhaps the most noteworthy aspect is the warmth and hospitality of the owner, Gail O'Sullivan who welcomed us with a bottle of wine, chocolates, bread, eggs, milk and a chocolate cake! Gail made every effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We will certainly come again
The house has great facilities and the owner is very, very helpful and welcoming. Kenmore is a lovely town, wonderful walk around Muckcross in Killarney National Park
Super holiday home and a great welcome by the owner. Would certainly recommend to others.
The house is very comfortably equipped with good quality furnishings. It is in a quiet residential location yet only a 10-minute walk into the main street of Kenmare. The beautiful Kerry Way is just yards away making it an especially great place for walkers to stay.
The owner couldn't have been more welcoming. Good quality furnishings and cottage spotlessly clean. 'Kerry Way' walk almost from the door - spectacular views.
