We booked this house from Dec 19th til January 3rd 2015 with all 3 kids. WE absolutely loved this place! the kids loved the attic as all their beds are there and so cozy. the owner Mrs. Phillips is ever so niceand she makes gorgeous jams! Loved the jams! that we had to take it back with us all the way to the Philippines.
Wonderfully warm welcome from owner. The Cottage was extremely well equipped, the owner had thought of everything.
Great location. The top floor of Ward 2 is very nice and the lounge is very comfortable. The owner is also very nice and welcoming.
Wards court 2 is a well equipped, roomy apartment above a small quiet bistro in the middle of the village. There was plenty of room for all of us and we liked the large kitchen. The shared downstairs hall was useful as we were able to leave the pram wheels there. There are quite steep stairs up to the second floor so not for the unfit. The lady owner was very friendly and helpful and had provided us with a welcome tray of delicious cup cakes, cheese, biscuits, chutney and fruit. The village is quiet but is within walking distance of the canal. There is a decent pub with good meals at the end of the village green and its an easy drive into Gloucester or Cirencester. We felt it was good value for money.
My partner and I have stayed in Both Wards Court 1 and 2 on and off since 2011 as we live in Australia and Africa with family here in Gloucestershire. The owner is one of a kind, very thoughtful and kind and nothing is too much for her. The property is very safe (Ive been alone many times while partner was still overseas) being upstairs it gave a sense of security. The views from both cottages are wonderful with plenty of walks straight from the door to the canal the river Severn and the lakes. The property is well equipt and kept clean. We used BT Wi Fi which was a fast speed. The Washing machine is great as it does a quick wash in 29 mins! Ley Cafe is fantastic located below. Top bedroom in Wards court 2 gets so many wow's!!!!! Its a Gem of its own with a balcony to sit on and watch the sun go down. Will always come back here.
The size of the property was ideal for our family. The village was peaceful but within easy reach of lovely towns and countryside and Le Bistro below was handy for sandwiches and snacks.
I provided an update at the time to the owner. We found the place clean and comfortable, though it is more of an upstairs apartment than a cottage. It was cold weather, and the apartment was rather cool, especially in the bathroom and when the storage heaters had released most of their heat. The kitchen lacked a few basics, mainly cooking equipment, and had there been the maximum number the property supposedly caters for there have been too few chairs and not much=h space all to sit in the lounge. The setting on the Green is ver y pleasant - the restaurant below was closed because of family difficulties for the owner.
The location of the cottage was in a nice English village The owner called us prior to our arrival just to make sure everything was ok. The welcoming snack was greatly appreciated since we arrived in the evening. The cottage was very clean, with nice furniture and bedding. The kitchen utensils, pots and cutlery were more than enough. Overall, it was very good.
I believe we were in Wards Court 1. We were in Wards Court 2 earlier in the year because some of the family came to stay for a short while. That must tell you how much we liked the place to back again. The home is very well equiped and very comfortable. With a restaurant on the ground floor run by the owner with excellent food and a pub 2 doors away - need I say more! It was agreat base for walking - our passion. Mrs Phillips, the owner, is a gem, very kind and attentive. There was nothing to dislike about the holiday. In fact we shall probably go back again next year.
We had enough space in the house, and it was very quiet.
We liked the quietness of the location and the friendliness of the hostess, as well as eating at her restaurant.
The accommodation was excellent and it was handy being above the owners restaurant - nice meals!
