Reviews

The Hall and surrounding grounds, village etc., were beautiful but Carr Cottage itself is very dated, shabby and in need of a great deal of TLC. The furniture was old (not in a good antique way) and threadbare and the bedding and towels were cheap and clearly hadn't been replaced for quite a few years. We loved The Hall and grounds and garden but Carr Cottage didn't live up to the rest of the place and we were very disappointed with it. Also we had arranged the day before arrival to meet the caretaker at her cottage to pick up the keys and be shown around the cottage but after waiting for 30 minutes had to let ourselves in with the keys which had been left in the front door of the cottage!

Very poor accommodation. Old, uncomfortable furniture. Needs a huge amount of money to be spent on it. Bathrooms have hand shower on bath side, ceiling so low cannot stand up.Kitchen doors peeling off. Awful!!!

Chose this cottage due to its quiet, outlying location and spacious grounds. House very roomy, but really needs renovation and update to decor. Twin beds in pink bedroom far too soft and in need of renewal. However, our main complaint was that it was virtually impossible to have a shower, as there were no shower screens in either bathroom, and no adequate wall fixing for the shower head. Being a party of 3 over 60s and 2 young children, this was a significant problem.

Good location for visting this beautful area. Nice location of the cottage and divine gardens through an archway to the houses opposite. We enjoyed our holiday with our family and parents, however this property is in desperate need of renovation/ updating. As a family we stay at at least two holidays cottages per year and have never had a problem or felt so dissapointed. There is clear evidence of rising damp, incorrectly positioned smoke alarms, no sign of a CO2 detecter, old wiring, peeling celings in the bathroom, the list is endless. I let properties I own and quite frankly if it was me letting or mangaging this property, I would be too embrassed to rent this property out. I did try and discuss the issue of having to clean the bath every time we used it as it was covered with peeling paint however, the impression I got from the caretakers reply was that was while the house was been booked out, nothing would be done. I gave up any further discussions on the property.

A lovely cottage in a great location. Had very helpful and friendly caretakers. Access to walled garden was brilliant. All in all, a delightful place to stay.

The setting was beautiful. The contact at the cottage was very helpful. The lounge was a beautiful room overlooking the owner's garden. Plus the shared garden was gorgeous.

Carr Cottage is in a nice, quiet area but is conveniently situated a few miles away from Bridlington and Filey. The garden is lovely and is a peaceful place to sit on a warm day. The lounge is the best room in the cottage, nicely decorated with a window seat overlooking the garden.

The cottage was perfect for a relaxing holiday with kids. It was really quiet and the big garden was an ideal place to play. Our son liked to see the horses. We loved the old fashioned style of the property, there were many attractions were nearby, it was close to nice beaches.

A very friendly, warm welcome. Carr Cottage is very spacious and comfortable. The rural location is splendid with no noise of traffic. The gardens are beautiful. The location is perfect for dogs with long and short walks from the door.

We had a relaxing holiday in this property which is part of an historic house in a small village near the sea. Lovely garden centre with a cafe nearby and shops and both town and countryside on your doorstep.

The gorgeous location, tucked away on a country estate. It was peaceful yet only a few minutes drive to the nearby town of Bridlington. The house itself was really quirky, like being 'downstairs' in Downton Abbey, which we loved. Great location overall for visiting East Yorkshire.

Beautiful area, friendly people, access to lovely walks, dog friendly and peaceful, just what we needed.

We loved the location of the cottage, attached to the beautiful Boynton Hall out in the country, horses in the field, a lovely garden and gazebo where we had our lunches, woodland walks with our little dog.

Rated by Mrs Stuart reviewed on 11th September 2012

Had a warm welcome and the cottage was surprisingly large, the internet pictures certainly didn't do it justice. Very quiet with beautiful large garden to the rear of the property ideal for families and young children with friendly horses in the field to feed, a walled garden to play in and ample garden space for playing. Had a fantastic stay and would certainly return due to fantastic value for money and ideal location for a holiday to Bridlington and surrounding attractions.

The size, setting, garden and location of the cottage were excellent.

Fantastic size and stunning gardens - the property listing didn't do it justice. It was amazing and a very warm welcome on arrival. Great location.

The quietness and being able to walk around their beautiful grounds. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were allowed to take 2 small dogs age 6 and 12 instead of one. We would go again.

The house was ideal for us with two small children - lots of space for them to play, very few cars coming down the private drive to the main house and a fantastic, huge enclosed garden to play in. They especially enjoyed the animals on the farm, and a big sandy beach is about 10 miles away.

The setting was splendid with a beautiful garden. Two bathrooms worked well for 2 families staying together. Friendly people at the site.
