Byrdir Cottage is a detached cottage, created from two separate properties in a peaceful location in open countryside just over four miles from Rhayader near to Llandrindod Wells in Powys. Boasting five bedrooms consisting of two doubles, two singles and one twin as well as a family bathroom, this cottage can sleep eight people. There is also a fitted kitchen with a dining area, a sitting room with a woodburning stove and a games room with a pool table, table tennis, darts and an additional woodburner. Outside the cottage is off road parking for four cars, secure bike storage and enclosed lawned gardens with outdoor furniture. With so much to keep the family amused, Byrdir Cottage is a wonderful holiday home all year round.

Rhayader 4.5 miles. A delightful detached cottage set in open countryside with mountain views from all aspects, in a rural location 4.5 miles from Rhayader. Created from two separate properties, this picturesque Rhayader cottage stands alone at the end of a single farm track in the most peaceful location. Full of character, this pretty Rhayader cottage retains many original features including open beams, flagged floors, wooden floorboards throughout the first floor and wonderful open fireplaces. The lovely large kitchen table with settle seating is perfect for family meals, followed by relaxation in the superb sitting room or the very large games room, specifically adapted from an old barn with vaulted beamed ceiling, a cosy woodburner, comfy seats, a TV and DVD, a pool table, table football and table tennis. Enjoy alfresco dining in the pretty cottage garden, which has an area large enough to enjoy a friendly game of football, or explore the local countryside with walks from the doorstep. You may well see Red Kites overhead, along with all the other birdlife around the cottage, but do visit the Red Kite feeding station in nearby Rhayader for an experience never to be forgotten. The Elan Valley lakes and the many shows and exhibitions at the Royal Welsh Showground offer varied days out for all the family. A terrific, welcoming Rhayader cottage for all ages.

The annual Royal Welsh Show is just one of the attractions in nearby Builth Wells, where a great variety of exhibitions and sales are held all year round. The beautiful Elan Valley offers a wonderful variety of walks and cycle trails, as well as a visitor centre with café and children's play area.

We travelled as two families and two dogs to this beautiful home in the middle of farm fields. The cottage is spacious, inviting, cosy and beautiful - the games room is fabulous for the children. The log burner was a massive hit considering it was snowing and - temperatures outside. The setting is beautiful, fields and hills as far as the eye can see. The owner is welcoming and accommodating. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be returning.
We travelled as two families consisting of 4 adults and 4 children with Buddy the dog. The cottage is spacious, warm and in the most picturesque of locations - away from it all! The owners are friendly and helpful and keep the place beautifully, providing lots of added extras to make your stay enjoyable. The games room is huge and a real bonus for cosy nights in as a group. I would gladly stay at the cottage again and was sad to leave to go home.
We stayed over October half term with friends, four adults, four children. First impressions on arrival were excellent. Beautiful tucked away location, very clean , tidy and welcoming. The fantastic homemade cake was amazing! The huge separate games room was a real bonus and spent many hours in here with the kids. the property is spacious and it never feels like you are on top of each other. The only downside is having the one bathroom as it makes for slow progress getting out in the morning! The extra cost of £5.00 for towels per person seemed an unnecessary extra expense especially given the fact they are waiving this from 2017! No wifi or 4g/3g but that was good as the kids couldn't use their gadgets! Surrounding area truly lovely, well worth visiting the Elan valley, great pub, the Triangle in town.
Perfect relaxing environment in a secluded and private spot, with plenty of space for a family. The games room was excellent, with a good choice of games and things to do. The table tennis table was our favourite. The outside space was absolutely beautiful and we really enjoyed relaxing around the large table and chairs on the large patio. The owners have thought of everything. It felt like a home from home immediately. Thank you for a memorable holiday. Everyone enjoyed it tremendously!
A really homely place, a lot of thought has gone into making it welcoming. There were comfortable places to sit and look out onto the fields, or watch TV. The games room is great, perfect if it rains or for an evening in. It is a really warm property with lots of hot water and three wood burning stoves. It is a great base for walks, cycling or driving around the beautiful countryside. Loved our stay there.
This was our third visit to the cottage and we still enjoyed the holiday as much as ever. The games room and the large garden is a bonus for a family because it enables everyone to have their own space when they need it.

Fabulous welcome with cake and drinks on arrival. The Cottage is the best equipped we have ever been to. There is a lovely secure garden for dogs and the surrounding area is so peaceful and relaxing. Fabulous welcome with cake and drinks on arrival. Cottage best equipped we have ever been to, even managed to bake a cake. Games room a big hit with everyone, great array of games. Hot water available all the time, all facilities brilliant. Log burners lovely, although only used once as we had gorgeous weather so not really needed. Will definitely consider going again. It was such an idyllic, secluded location with beautiful views. We loved watching the red kites flying overhead, and the bats in the garden at twilight. A lovely house, we would definitely come back.
We confirmed this cottage for our group who were based at the Royal Welsh for the week. The location was within 15 minutes of the Show ground which was ideal for the daily commute. We had a great time chilling out and relaxing, as well as exploring the surrounding area. The games room was fantastic, loved the garden and being able to walk in the surrounding fields. The water tasted lovely! We enjoyed cosy evenings in front of the wood burner, the location was away from it all but accessible. Would certainly be happy to return anytime.

The cottage is based in an ideal location and has a very desirable ambience. It has a homely décor in keeping with the age and location, the kitchen was small, but well stocked. There is even a games room which was a real bonus, with pool, table tennis and dvd's provided.
