Reviews

Ocean View is described as 'luxury' accommodation - I'm sorry to say, it isn't. While the house is impressive from the outside and internally the rooms are extremely large and spacious, that's about where the 'luxury' ends. It's house with huge potential but unfortunately that hasn't been realised. While it sleeps 10 the lounge can only seat 7, and there are no other 'comfortable' chairs to relax in despite the dining area being huge - but all it has is a a table that seat 6 with old, uncomfortable chairs. The majority of the crockery is extremely old, faded and some badly chipped - it felt like they were picked up from second hand stores. There were plenty of mugs but again the majority were heavily stained. The cutlery was a mismatch and again obviously very old. Cooking utensils were also well past their best. The wooden spoon was split, the egg flippers and the like were very badly marked. The kettle looks very old, tired and showing signs of scaling around the exterior of the spout. The brush for sweeping the floor had had its handle snapped in two and the dustpan (while usable) looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was bought. There's no washing up bowl and the sink plug doesn't stop the water from draining away - the dishwasher worked though. Some of the oven pans were badly marked and the toaster still had the crumbs from a previous guest on the top. While all bedrooms bar one haven an ensuite, the shower cubicles are very dated. The mattresses have also seen better days and it was a constant battle to stop the fitted sheet from riding off. When we stripped the beds on departure, the actual duvets and pillows have certainly seen far better days and really do need replacing. The rooms are extremely large and it really could benefit with more furniture and some scatter rugs to make it feel more homely, But putting all of that to one side, the location is super and the house was generally clean - not sure if it had been 'Covid' cleaned though. If you're looking for budget accommodation for a large party and don't mind the negatives then go for it. .

A truly magnificent home in stunning surroundings. This palatial and elegant house has it all! Tastefully decorated, quality furniture, and luxurious comforts throughout. No expense was spared in the building of this exceptional home. The views of the mountains and sea were second to none and we loved the beautiful walks down the lanes scented with honeysuckle and meadow sweet. We listened to the cuckoo in the evenings and watched the glorious pink sunsets from the patio. The Sugar Loaf pub is within walking distance and Glengarriff a 5min drive. Peg's shop in Adrigole has a terrific selection of wines and its perfect for any basics you might need. The homeowner Noreen and her daughter Sharon were simply outstanding! I cannot say enough about their warmth, kindness, generosity and hospitality during our stay. Do not hesitate to book this home. I cannot recommend it more highly. You will have no regrets. Its a gem!
