We had a lovely stay with two young families and their grandparents. It’s the perfect place to spend time together as a big family. There’s plenty of open plan living space and a secure garden for all the kids to play together. There’s a well equipped detached games room which would be particularly great for teenagers too. The rooms were very comfy. It’s a beautifully done barn conversion with lovely views. The village is charming, there’s lots to see and do near by. The ice cream parlour is well worth a visit! We weren’t expecting artisan gelato on our doorstep! Most importantly they rescued my son’s forgotten bear and posted him back to us! Thanks very much!

Wow what a great place to stay. Lovely village and an excellent location between Buxton and Bakewell. Barn was to a very high standard and very comfortable. Host left wine, flowers and cakes which was a nice touch. Highly recommended and we will be back.

This place is outstanding, lovely spacious accommodation. Great that all bedrooms are en-suite. Excellent facilities, great underfloor heating and a wood burner, lovely welcome pack for the adults and a little one for the dogs with some chews and a ball, also towels provided for the dogs too, a lovely touch. There is a games room in a separate building at the side which is a bonus too. This exceeded our expectations and will definitely be back (when a little drier/warmer) Lovely pub a few minutes walk down the road and a little cafe also. Bakewell and Buxton not far either. Amazing stunning place to stay thank you.

We are four couples and old friends who have been taking short break holidays together for about twenty five years. We all agreed that Spingle Barn was one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. All the bedrooms were luxurious and no fighting over who gets the en-suite because we all did! It’s in a lovely part of the country and we had great walks, finishing in the village pub nearby. Highly recommended.

Amazing cottage with a very friendly (human and dog) local pub serving excellent food. Beautiful walks on the door step. Very pretty Bakewell is only a 10 minute drive away. So much to see and do in the area and we only just touched the surface in a week. Very extensive welcome pack on arrival including wine and homemade cake. Alexa provided much entertainment and having a computer was extremely useful. We have visited lots of dog friendly cottages over the years but this is definitely the best we have been to. We will definitely be back as well as recommending to family and friends. Thank you so much. Lou and Rob x

Spingle Barn is a really comfortable, well-equipped property. The weather was pretty wild, wet and windy, but it did not spoil our holiday, as we had such a warm, cosy haven to come back to. It was very spacious, with lots of extras and a delicious 'Welcome' pack to greet us. There is a lovely garden, with plenty of chairs and tables and a great view, which we would love to have sat out in during the evenings - had the weather been better. The area was quiet, but very central for visiting places all around. We hope to return soon.

Our stay at springle barn was utterly faultless. As a group of young Adults you find alot of the time the assumption is made that you will somehow cause trouble. For us, springle barn exceeded our expectations and owners disregarded any prejudice around young people, which was refreshing and reassuring. we were able to have a super fun, relaxing stay in a beautiful home without any worries at all. Everything you could need was included and the property was finished to a beautiful standard with every need catered for. The owners had clearly made alot of effort to make it welcoming for the festive period with little touches that show they really go the extra mile. We are very greatful for the opportunity to stay and would love to come again. Lily and friends

Spingle Barn is accommodation of the highest order and met every need of our party which included 6 adults, a young baby, a five years old and a three year old. We also celebrated 3 birthdays as well as Easter, very welcome. Each family had their own bathroom and roomy bedroom, including the 3 and 5year old. There was even a bathroom to spare! The surrounding gardens and the onset of snow provided a good safe play area, which the children enjoyed. We were able to complete some good walks, visit Chatsworth, experience Abraham Heights among many other nearby places of interest and the village of Monyash had a very welcoming pub and cafe as well as an exciting playground for the children. We all had a wonderful week at this venue and would certainly return again!

We (4 couples) all enjoyed reuniting for a weeks holiday in Spingle barn. Fantastic location, great house and facilities, particularly as we all had double or king size beds and our own bathrooms, which has never happened before, 23+ years ago someone always had to have the dud room with the bunk beds! Plenty to do in the surrounding area whatever your tastes are for a holiday, great place to come home to every evening. Went down the local a couple of times, great food with huge portions. Hoping its free when we all turn 60 in a couple of years so we can return!

The location is ideal if you enjoy walking,or cycling with fantastic scenery all on the doorstep.for wet weather there are the stately homes or caves to visit. The barn is spacious for a larger family yet remains cosy and full of character. We were made to feel so welcome and extremely comfortable. With the well equipped kitchen family meals were no problem. We hope to visit again in the near future.

Last year we stayed at Spingle Barn with three other couples. The barn was a cosy place to stay as well as being near to Buxton - Midge Ure at the opera house, Bakewell, Eyams, various walking trails that were not too onerous and of course Chatsworth. We were all very conscious of the fact that there were lots of other interesting places that we didn't have time to visit. Spingle Barn's owners made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

Stayed for a week with our 2 daughters and their families. Including 1 year old toddler & 6 month baby. Plus 2 dogs. Barn looks a bit different from photos - corner of dining area where 'front' door was, is now a handy bathroom with laundry area off it. On arriving its not obvious where the main (back) door is. Big sign on the wooden gate would help. The house is beautifully furnished with lovely big bedrooms. 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. All with ensuites. Plenty space for us all. Great big dining table for family meals and a well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar where table used to be. Nice touch to find milk in the fridge & a home baked cake for us. Ideal huge fridge freezer and plenty cupboards for our food. It really is 5 star accommodation. Only negatives were 1. the broadband was non existent. None of us could get onto the internet on our phones, tablets or access it for Netflix. 2. the house has underfloor heating which when not working means a freezing house. And when it was working, was difficult to control room temp. 3. Kitchen needs a serious deepclean. Oven and fridge especially. There was black mould round ice/water outlet on fridge &drawers need cleaned. Found a cremated chip rammed into back of oven shelf so guessing it's a while since oven deep cleaned. 4. The bottom few stairs are a hazard to toddlers, with sharp stone edges. As is the fireplace. So wouldn't recommend for young children. Despite these issues we enjoyed our stay and think the house is lovely for a large group holiday. It was great for the dogs too, with enclosed garden.

Ten guests and two dogs and there was plenty of room in this lovely accommodation. Could not fault it at all. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean and some treats left for us which was a nice touch. Great view of the countryside and nice and peaceful. The wood burning fire is fab (but maybe turn the under floor heating off for a while before you light it, it gets very warm). Would definitely love to go back, hopefully for longer next time.

Spingle Bran was exactly what we needed for our group. We were Mum and Dad, adult daughter and 2 elderly parents. We were celebrating my Dad's 89th birthday. It was also a trip down memory lane for my Mum as she had been evacuated to Monyash during WW2, The accommodation was very well appointed to meet the needs of older relatives with mobility problems. This made it ideal for our needs. The cottage was also very well appointed for everyone else in our party. TVs in every bedroom meant keeping everyone happy when viewing tastes clashed!! Probably the best equipped kitchen we have ever had in a holiday cottage - we've stayed in quite a few both in UK and abroad. The beds were comfortable. The bed linen and towels were clean and plentiful. The lounge was nice and cosy. Lots of comfy settees and sofas. The high back riser chair was very welcome. The PC is very handy for getting on line. Lovely views from the entrance door across a well kept garden with lots of sitting out areas. The cottage is in a great location with easy access to Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne and Matlock. Also great access to lots of walks, some of which are on the doorstep of the cottage. Monyash is a lovely village. The beer and meals at The Bull are heartily recommended. Overall a great base from which to explore the Peak District

Stayed at the Barn with a group of friends for a 50th birthday celebration. The cottage was absolutely amazing, a view shared by all four couples and was a perfect venue. The kitchen is superbly equipped with a huge fridge to store the food and importantly the wine! The sunshine was a bonus which meant we could also take advantage of the garden, for morning breakfast and use the fire pit to keep toasty warm in the evening before dining at the huge table. All of the rooms are slightly different but I would have been delighted to have stayed in any of them. Quite simply a wonderful cottage to celebrate any occasion with family or friends.

Stayed here for four days in October to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary, we were a group of 11, the sleeping arrangements were no problem as you could choose the layout of the bedrooms before we arrived we found this very helpful there is five bathrooms so no problems there a large living area where we could all relax and a huge dinning table which allowed us a to sit together and eat. Would highly recommend this cottage for large groups.

On the surface, this barn has been very well converted. All the bedrooms are reasonably comfortable and have en-suites, the kitchen is well-equipped and the garden area is good. Unfortunately we felt that some basic provision had been overlooked to make way for the luxury. There were no hooks or shelves in the bathrooms or bedrooms and so towels and wash bags had to go on the floor. There was a small wardrobe in each room but no drawer units, which meant we had nowhere to put our clothes and lived out of our suitcases. The barn does not have a lobby area so there was nowhere to put wet coats or shoes. We felt a barn conversion can do without underfloor heating. We also found the motion sensor lighting and extractor fans rather annoying, especially at night. We have stayed in many barns over many years and were quite disappointed in this one.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Spingle Barn. The barn is in a perfect central location for touring the entire Peak District. It is furnished to a high standard and the beds are huge and very comfortable. We loved the American style fridge with built in ice maker and the well kept outdoor space. The family bedroom is particularly nice with plenty of space for a family of four to sleep. There is a nice village pub 5 minutes walk away with a decent childrens play area and garden. We would certainly return next time we visit the area.

Our second visit, for a week this time, and the barn is just as good as our first visit last November. The welcome pack of homemade bread, cake, milk, etc, all great. We had a great week of weather, making the stay even more enjoyable and we used the outside space. A great base for seeing Derbyshire and the local pub is great. The only person pleased to come home was the dog so he could have a rest from all the walking. At the barn they are planning a new patio and grass area giving the barn even more outside space. May have to have another visit to see this when it is finished. Would have no hesitation in recommending to barn to anyone and excellent value for money! Thanks you for a great holiday!

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the excellent Spingle Barn. The accommodation was faultless, with every mod con going and more! Even though it was November, the under floor heating kept the barn lovely and cosy, and once we had lit the log burner it was tropical! The food pack of eggs, milk, home baked bread and cake was great. The kitchen facilities were excellent. The living area was spacious with more than enough room for 8 of us plus the dog! The dining table easily accommodated us all too! All the bedrooms were spacious with TV's. Spingle Barn was easy to find, with an excellent pub 5 minutes walk down the road. A definite 10 out of 10 and we will hopefully be making a return visit next year.

The cottage was in a great situation as a base in our touring around. It was warm, comfortable and welcoming. It had everything that was required; kitchen equipment, great showers, comfortable beds and a wood burner that was so easy to light. It's no wonder it is so popular and always booked up. We had previously stayed at Spingle Barn in October 2012 and were very impressed by it. I'm pleased to say that our second visit was just as impressive. Blinds had been replaced by gorgeous shutters in the dining area and there was a new huge corner seating unit and a new reclining chair in the lounge area. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. Again, we were amazed at how well-equipped the kitchen was - one of our party enjoys cooking and she was in her element trying (but failing) to use every implement provided! There is so much to do in the local area - on 2 visits we have only scratched the surface. We will be returning, but to our dismay it will not be until 2015 due to other commitments during 2014. I could go on for ever, but the best recommendation is for you to stay at Spingle Barn - I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

We spent four relaxing and highly enjoyable days at Spingle Barn. It completely lived up to expectations, luxurious and well appointed, up-to-date technology and beautiful bathrooms in every bedroom. All four bedrooms are excellent, two on the ground floor, two upstairs. We highly recommend this property. The owners made a very generous gesture, providing us with a quite unexpected welcome pack! We won't spoil the surprise! The only downside is having to vacate at 9.30am not, as expected, at 10am. The Bulls Head has a good to very good modern restaurant, although the rest of the pub was a bit dingy. We found a great Indian restaurant in Bakewell called Raja's and the food was outstanding.

I stayed here for a week in April 2013, with my extended family (4 family 'units') 3 small children and our Labrador were included! The Barn is beautiful and finished to high standard. We had the pleasure of the master bedroom as we had the largest family unit (myself and my husband, and our 4 and 2 year old) and the master bedroom was perfect for us as we had an ensuite bath, and a couch for early morning TV! (although the bed was massive and the kids were in with us every morning!) The living area is roomy but cosy at the same time, and we sat at the fire every evening after enjoying a feast together at the dining table. The Barn is a short walk from a local pub which is very friendly and serves ok 'pub grub' There is also a fab play park attached to the beer garden. We drove to Bakewell (approx. 15 mins drive) several days as it had lots of beautiful shops /cafes / pubs and we used the coop for groceries. We also drove to Dovedale to go on a family walk which was beautiful and highly recommended. The heights of Abraham and cable car ride is recommended too. The weather was pretty awful when we visiting so we didn't get much use of the garden unfortunately. The owners were very helpful and made us a chocolate cake and left us wine/milk/eggs for arriving. Thoroughly enjoyable and would recommended to large groups of friends/families. I have no negative comments, but one of the group had a crawling baby and they found the stone floors/stairs unnerving but there were enough of us around to keep a close eye on the little one.

We received the stay an Spingle Barn as a Brithday gift with a family group of 8 people age range 6 week to 84. The facilities were absolutely first class and we had a relaxing pre christmas stay, the general feeling from the family was that we should do the same again next year. The owners had added to the christmas spirit providing tasteful Christmas decorations both inside and out the only complaint is they didn't provide a light dusting of snow to complete the magic. The welcome pack was to a very high and personal standard with home baked bread and to the joy of one little girl an excellent chocolate cake among other basic additions. This place is a little gem which is a credit to the owners and i would highly reccommend you stat there. One little note the pictures on the website don't really do the place justice.

Our every wish had been catered for. All of our criteria was met, indeed exceeded, by Spingle Barn - and that is not an easy task! We ate at the local pub, which was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. In short, we cannot recommend Spingle Barn enough. We will be returning!

The property contained all we needed for our family stay including 3 under 5s. The location is ideal for all the Peak District attractions... Buxton, Crich, Matlock, Tissington and Monsal trails. Food in the village pub was great and they provided well for the children.

Spingle Barn was by far the best accommodation we, as a group, have stayed in during the 10 years we have been holidaying together.

The house was fantastic, best I've ever stayed in. It was so welcoming. The log burner was burning, it was beautiful. Could not fault it at all. Would love to stay there again.

The welcome pack on arrival was very good. The owners were available but unobtrusive, so that was good. Liked the excellent pub in the village, only a 5 minute walk away. Liked the fact you have easy access to the computer.

The location was excellent and the accommodation was fine and provided all we needed for our family gathering. Pub within walking distance was a bonus as was the owners being on hand for minor problems.

Quiet, peacefully positioned and well placed for visiting other areas. Nice touch with the welcome pack, beds were really comfy and very spacious.

A stunning place, spotless inside and immaculately decorated with furnishings to a very high spec. We had been left some lovely welcome items such as cake, local sausages and wine etc. A lovely touch. Lovely places to visit nearby, good for long walks etc. Would definitely revisit.

The barn was gorgeous and in a beautiful location. The village pub, The Bulls Head, did great good value meals which had generous portions and were delicious. Everyone was so friendly. We also bought free range farm eggs from the village. The owners of Spingle Barn were unobtrusive but always helpful when we asked questions. The welcome pack was the best we've ever had in over 30 years of self catering cottage holidays throughout Great Britain. 10 out of 10, couldn't fault a thing. Well Done to the owners. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and we hope to return some time.

Spingle Barn was without doubt the best holiday property we have ever stayed in. The owners were helpful but didn't intrude. We were left a wonderful welcome pack with homemade cake and bread. Just everything was perfect. I would certainly recommend anyone to go to this property for a very special holiday.

The cottage was ideal and well laid out for a large family get together. Being walking distance to a pub that served good food was a bonus.

This tastefully converted barn has 4 good sized, ensuite bedrooms, including a ground floor room and wetroom, which is suitable for someone with limited mobility. It successfully combines traditional style with modern comfort and good decor. Each bedroom has some seating and a flatscreen T.V., wi-fi and ipod dock, so even if you are a large party , the property feels spacious. We were lucky with the weather, but in the cooler seasons there is a woodburner and underfloor heating which must make the barn very cosy. Lots of nice touches, such as sensor mirrors and lighting and my favourite - an american fridgefreezer with an ice-maker. We were very pleasantly surprised by the very good welcome pack and lost no time tucking into a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake. Outside is a large sunny patio area with picnic tables, bbq and attractive flowerbeds and planters. The unobtrusive, helpful owners live on hand for any problems but at the same time the property is nice and private. It is very well-situated for visiting Bakewell, Buxton and Chatsworth, among other interesting places and attractions and there are good walks from the door , including the beautiful Lathkill Dale. We have stayed in many cottages and this is one of the best. We enjoyed staying here and would love to visit again.

This was by far the best cottage we have had in 15 years of holidaying. Our first time in the Peak District. I got a gold star from the rest of my party for finding and booking this cottage!

Spingle Barn is a beautiful conversion which has been done to a very high standard throughout with good quality furnishings, very comfortable beds and more than enough crockery and utensils. It's set in a good location with an excellent pub within easy walking distance. We were a group of eight adults with a toddler, a baby and 2 dogs and the barn had ample seating in the lounge/ dining areas to easily accommodate all of us and with an en-suite in each bedroom plus a main bathroom, we never once had to queue for a toilet. We would have no hesitation recommending the property to anyone.

Stayed during the first week of May, with my sister, and our partners (plus pets!). Communication with the owners was superb and we found it extremely easy to book. All our questions were answered before arrival, and we had a few unusual requests regarding bringing a hot tub, and having our food delivered before we got there. None of which seemed to much trouble for the owners. When we arrived we received a warm welcome, and a very comprehensive tour around the barn with how the underfloor heating (which was amazing) and other facilities worked. There was more then enough parking for our 3 cars. The bedrooms were more then you could ask for, with very modern en suite bathrooms, and very spacious. Very comfortable beds and everything was spotless! Great garden where we enjoyed a super BBQ, with easy access from the lounge and the kitchen. The cottage is just a short walk away from Lathkill Dale, which the dogs loved! The village itself is very pretty, quiet and peaceful. There is a great pub in the village, where we ate one night. We visited many other places close by. We shopped in Buxton and Bakewell and had a great day out at Chatsworth house. We will be back!!!!

Me and 7 friends had a weekend at Spingle Barn in November 2011. The description of the place fitted our needs perfectly - large open plan living room / diner, 4 double bedrooms en suite, off road parking and a 2 minute walk to the village pub. We were looking forward to our trip and the stay at the barn exceeded my expectations, which were pretty high to begin with, from the moment I made the enquiry to the minute we left. Garry and Andrea corresponded with me via email and asked if we wanted the bedrooms made up as twins or doubles and told me that they would warm the place up for when we arrived on the Friday afternoon. When we arrived, they had baked us a cake, some bread, to name a couple of items, had a basket of logs set out, written us a welcome card and a welcome sign on the chalk board outside - we felt like we were VIPs. The photos and the descriptions are true to the barn and the location and the conversion is finished to such a high standard. The wood burning stove ensures the barn is cosy at all times and for extra heat, each room had its own underfloor heating. The American style fridge freezer with an ice machine and water filter was also well received. We honestly could not fault the barn, the hospitality received by the owners, or the location. I went with a group of friends but you could easily go with family and children.

A beautiful, well equipped and clean barn conversion. This was the ideal property and location for our family get together and visiting the Peak District. The owners were very friendly and provided an excellent welcome pack to get our holiday off to the perfect start. The booking system with Sykes was efficient and faultless.

The accommodation was excellent throughout with lots of very thoughtful touches. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and the owner of Spingle Barn provided us with a lovely welcome pack and a vase of fresh flowers. We will definitely book again and would recommend it to all our family and friends. The owners have managed to make this barn conversion a very warm and special place.

The barn was ideally situated for travel to all the places we like to visit. The walks were excellent and the fact there was a pub just a short walk away, made it ideal for us. We would definitely use it again.
