Reviews

The yurt was as described. We would have liked to have used the boat which was in the description, but it was dirty and full of water, so were unable to. The bed was super comfy. It got very hot in the yurt and the fan provided didn't make a difference. Spiders and beetles were a daily occurance, but you are staying in a woodland property, so to be expected. No wifi, so used my free data which eas very hit and miss, but i managed. The phone signal was good. No TV, so we brought books and relaxed reading. Loved the ducks, geese, herons and kingfishers. The foxes were noisy of an evening, but lovely to hear. Parking right outside the yurt. The deep bath in the yurt was amazing. full screen on the door would have been great, and stopped the mosquitos. The hot tub was amazing. The light didn't work for evening dips which was a shame. We googled how to use the hob. The deck area isn't suitable for fishing, as too high to lift fish over safely. The covered area is a great addition in hot or rainy weather. A flushing toilet was an unexpected bonus. Private, clean, functional. Evesham and Tewkesbury close by. The Beckford Inn was lovely and close by. We would return to try one of the other yurts.

I totally mirror what the guy said in September 21. Nothing has changed since that review. The place and its location is idyllic. However the place is extremely tired and scruffy and needs to be reviewed either on price or people are told what to expect and can therefore make a decision. I was shocked when I arrived because it looked like no one had occupied the place it was so overgrown and scruffy. We cleaned everything because cobwebs were everywhere. It is a shame because it can be ideal. I hope the owners don’t take personally but do something about it. We did have clean linen and towels. The hot tub is situated in long bushes and puts you off because it looks dirty. I have been in it and it was nice and hot but not sure its clean. The grand children loved visiting. Like I said the place is idyllic shame to say what I did.

Set in the most beautiful location next to a peaceful, carp-filled lake. Kingfishers, ducks, geese, swans and pheasants. From early morning until evening, you are free and undisturbed by the outside world. I cannot fault the privacy and beauty of this place. The facilities provided are good - Kamado barbecue and accessories, heated shelter, reclining chairs. Everything you need. However, the accommodation is tired. The pictures here (I see that the last review was two years ago) are misleading. The wood is split and deformed and poorly maintained/painted. The inside of the yurt on arrival was covered in cobwebs which really should have been removed. The hot tub was also dirty. The cover and tiling were covered in mildew and it smelled very, very sweaty. I'm not 100% convinced that the water had been changed since the last occupants. There was a huge pile of swirling black grit in the bottom as well. We ended up not using it much. The fire grate in the bottom of the barbecue was shattered, as was the grill. The grill also hadn't been cleaned and the previous occupants ash hadn't been removed. We planned a barbecue not knowing this and had to spend 30 minutes cleaning and preparing it first. The supplied rowing boat was also in a vile condition and we had to buy cleaning supplies to make it serviceable. The oars were different sizes and the oarlocks were far too large for said oars. Overall, this place has the potential to be wonderful but it's just not quite there anymore. It's tired and neglected. With a deep clean and a repaint, some carpentry and it could be wonderful again. I recommend walks to the Yew Tree pub, the Gardener's Arms and hiring a self-skippered boat from Severn Expeditions.

Well where do I start. As soon as we saw the place we fell in love with it. Even staying in October the weather was so nice. The Jacuzzi was so nice even at 23.00 at night. Was the most romantic place I have ever been in. We even named the ducks that came for food every morning. This place was the most amazing place ever and can't wait to go there again.

Visited the Lakeside Yurt 15th June 2018 for 3 nights...... what a lovely little hideaway!..... so peaceful and relaxing. The owner who greeted us, was really friendly and showed us to the Yurt and explained how everything worked. The Yurt was spotlessly clean and the owners had thought to provide everything.... even robes!!! The bed was really comfortable. If you don't like brilliant daylight in the early morning from the skylight, bring a pair of eye covers. Our dog Holly had a lovely time and enjoyed watching the ducks swimming up to the veranda.... not so pleased however when one of two came up ON the veranda. The undercover area on the veranda was fab and kept you shielded from the wind.... it even had an overhead heater which was really warm. We really didn't feel ready to leave... I came home and looked on line to see when we could do our next break.....only to sadly discover the place is full until October.

My better half booked the yurt for my birthday, wow what a fantastic and peaceful place. The yurt is kitted our with a hot water boiler, two ring gas hob, combi microwave oven, roll top bath with shower mixer, a gas fire and a rather comfy double bed. Set right by a lake with decking area and sheltered seating with heating! Lovely to just sit and watch the sun set. The little boat supplied is a must to explore the lake. If you want something warmer, there is a hot tub which you can just relax away all your troubles. Then sit by the fire pit set in the woods. Good base location to explore Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and just a 10 min walk from Beckford which has a post office shop. There is a Morrison’s on the way to Evesham for a bigger shop. All in all a fantastic place if you just want to get away from it all for a week. We will see you again in August for our mini moon!

The location is a winner if you are looking for peace and relaxation. The yurt has everything you need and is warm and cosy. I must admit to being disappointed however by the overall appearance, particularly the outside areas, the place needs a deep clean and some TLC. It could be so much more with a little attention to detail. I would imagine when the yurts were first installed it was near perfect, unfortunately the place has been left too long without a good clean and spruce up.

We stayed here for a week and its the most relaxing place you could ask for. We were greeted by the very friendly owners and shown everything then left to enjoy, although owners are at hand if needed. The Yurt is really secluded (we didnt see anyone for the whole week!) Everything is suplied ... towels, bedding, logs, kitchen utensils, dish washer tablets etc there was nothing that we needed. The bed was really comfy and the yurt was really warm and cosy. Bliss laying in the roll top bath looking out over the lake. The hot tub was amazing and was lovely to use at any time of day. Night time was amazing cooking on the bbq or using the pizza oven with a couple of glasses of wine. We had a new family for the week ... ducks, black swans, geese and it was lovely to wake up to them every morning waiting for their breakfast. Thank you for letting us have the pleasure of the Yurt as our home for the week. We will be back in 2018 for our Honeymoon ... 2wks though not 1wk.

I stayed here from 1st -8th July 2016 with my husband & 2 dogs. The owners were friendly and helpful and are close enough if you need anything but far away enough that you get privacy. This place is amazing and certainly puts the glam in glamping. It was so quiet and peaceful and I loved feeding the ducks & Swans etc. The yurt is clean and tidy and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. It was great to spend all day in the sun, followed by a barbecue & then a soak in the hot tub with a glass of bubbly watching the sun going down over the lake. The best bit for me was that I was able to take my dogs and they had a great time running through the woods and paddling in the lake. I would highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay and I cannot wait to go back next year!

Rated by Laura W reviewed on 27th July 2016

It was so peaceful, private and relaxing. We loved sitting in the hot tub overlooking the lake as it got dark. The Yurt was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was very well thought out by the owners. I loved waking up and feeding the ducks and geese every morning. We also enjoyed the barbecues each night. The best bit was that I was able to take my dog and include him in our holiday.

The most important thing was the privacy, nobody bothered us at all. The wildlife was amazing, there were so many different birds. The scenery was so beautiful and the lake so pretty, the fishing was excellent. The hot tub was so good, especially at night with all the flashing lights. The log burner and BBQ were well handy. Overall it was truly AMAZING!

We particularly liked the solitude, privacy and quietness at The Lakeside Yury. The hot-tub caught my eye! I wanted something different, something special, as this was a birthday gift to my partner. The owner was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much for them. Everything was just perfect. Fantastic! We will be going back.

What a getaway this is! i recommend this highly to anyone wanting to get away from the city and just have peace and quiet. They have thought of everything inside the yurt. No matter what time of year you go you don't need to worry about being cold inside, the fire place only needs to be on for about 15 minutes as it is so warm inside the yurt. I would definitely go back here and for the price you just cant beat it.

Rated by Mrs Bosher reviewed on 2nd October 2015

The Yurt was peaceful, secluded and situated next to a beautiful wildlife lake. Although there are four yurts on the site each had its own little private area. There was a lovely deck area next to the lake where we could sit out on loungers or under the wooden gazebo where there was a heater for chilly nights. The hot tub was an added bonus & there was a BBQ, chimenea or fire pit to choose to cook on. The owners were welcoming & not intrusive but were always available if needed. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the woods next to the Yurt & the numerous walks in the area straight from the site. Overall we had a fantastic time, it was just so relaxing to be there, & the amount of wildlife that we could watch/feed from our deck was amazing. We will definitely be re-booking & recommending this to our friends, family etc.

I honestly can say this is the most peaceful and tranquil place I have ever had the pleasure in staying. The past reviews say the same and they aren't lying it really was heaven on earth and we didn't want to come home. The setting is simply stunning looking out to the lake every day and the geese, ducklings and swans we fed every day were beautiful. The yurt itself was lovely and cosy and we looked out to the stars very night and the hot tub was used morning noon and night, the yurt is completely private and the owners very lovely but left you completely alone. We had a BBQ every night so no cooking although adequate cooking facilities are provided. If you want a complete rest and relaxing break trust me you will not want to leave this absolutely beautiful setting, we will be back.

Yurt is in a lovely quiet, secluded position. Level of cleanliness and standard of accommodation and equipment very good, higher than anticipated. Hot tub was sublime, fantastic to use in the evening under the stars and moon. Husband enjoyed 4 days of fishing from the decking just as much as I enjoyed the relaxing in the sun. The owner is a very friendly and welcoming chap, on hand at any time but never intrusive. Already looking forward to going back again.

We simply fell in love with this place. The owners have thought of everything to make this a lovely romantic getaway for their guests. We love the outdoors but this is the first time we have stayed in a yurt and cannot wait to return! The yurt itself is gorgeously decked out and very cosy. Loved the roll top bath and although there was under floor heating we had no need for it, since if it got chilly the gas log burner warmed up the yurt in no time. Perhaps if we had visited in the winter months we might have used the under floor heating. We spend a lot of time chilling on the veranda outside the yurt, with it's beautiful view of the lake, feeding the geese and ducks. The hot tub was fabulous; especially at night under the stars. There is a cooking chiminea which we used for chicken, pizza etc... plus was cosy to sit in front of of the evening. There was a combi-microwave and a couple of gas hobs with enough cooking equipment available. A fire pit in the woods - so recommend buying marsh mellows to toast over - simply yummy! Plus there is a unlimited supply of wood available to use. The location is perfect... there is a pub down the road in Beckford and another lovely country pub in a village, Ashton under Hill, only a few minutes drive. Fantastic country walks from Ashton under Hill (which is a very pretty village). Winchombe is well worth a visit if you like the Cotswolds (we do!) Another stunning Cotswolds village a short drive away is Stanton - if you wonder around the village be sure to visit The Mount Inn - great pub with a lovely view from the garden. There is a local Tesco in Cleve Prior, which is open late. Overall we had such a relaxing break and loved every minute. Highly recommend but book early as this place gets booked up - not surprisingly. PS - thank you to the owners who were very gracious waiting for us when we arrived late.

The Yurt was everything we had hoped for and more. The location and the privacy were perfect for a romantic getaway, and also great for just relaxing and unwinding and getting away from the world! Luckily for us the weather was brilliant, and we especially enjoyed the fishing, rowing round the lake and the fact that we could take our dog! The uniqueness of the Yurt and it's facilities and surroundings made this a very special break!

This special holiday was enough to persuade us to holiday in England from now on! We only spent 4 days in the yurt but 4 wonderful and very memorable days. The setting was very peaceful, secure and secluded and the weather was perfect. We enjoyed the fishing, rowing round the lake, sitting in the hot tub and eating in the gazebo and our dog enjoyed swimming in the lake too! We had a very enjoyable visit to Tewkesbury, spending time in the Abbey and we ate at The Star in Ashton under Hill where the food was superb and very good value. I wanted to write this review but I feel torn as I also want to keep it a secret!

We stayed at this lovely Yurt at the end of a busy year and it was just the place to totally relax. We loved sitting by the lake and watching the kingfisher, carp, owl, coots, morehens and geese. The hot tub was a real bonus. The drone of the nearby main road can be heard and we did have some loud intrusive music form the other yurt on site, but this was the only negative, There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, with the Cotswolds being on the doorstep. Tewksbury and the Abbey were an enjoyable visit. We had a delicious Sunday roast at the Crown and Trumpet in Broadway. (The nearest pub to the Yurt is a good 20 mins walk away not 8 mins as the website says.) Taking coathangers with you is a good idea as there are hooks for hanging belongings on.) We found the toliet fine to use. The owner was very pleasant and helpful.

My fiancé and I had a lovely relaxing time in the Yurt. We found it with ease. However, we went along and had a lovely time. We had smoked salmon for breakfast on the private terrace. There was a romantic hot tub and it was completely private. We were also worried that it might be cold as we stayed in December but it was toasty with the under floor heating. Couldn't fault a thing, just wish we hadn't had to cut it short due to family emergency as we also didn't get to thank the owners who were fantastic and so friendly. They have a gem going there. Thanks.

Rated by Ms Couchman reviewed on 8th November 2011

Stayed for one week in October. The yurt sits right on the fishing lake and is very private due to the planting around it near the lake and the wood it backs on to on the other side. The yurt itself appears high end in glamping, containing a lovely double bed, roll top bath with shower, fitted kitchen with fridge, microwave, hob and dish washer. Outside is a lovely covered gazebo with a heater for you to sit out and eat your evening meals under. Next to this on the decking are two quality sun loungers with a huge BBQ come fire pit. There's plenty of chopped wood located in the wood behind the yurt, also another fire pit has been built in the wood not far from the Yurt as well if you fancy using it. The other side of the gazebo and only 5 steps from the front door of the yurt is a beautiful 4 person hot tub. Next to this is a very posh composting toilet. The yurt is surrounded by decking and astro turf so you won't get muddy walking between the toilet or hot tub and the yurt. I believe the toilet is new and closer than what the original description describes on the yurts booking website. Also the hot tub originally was up at the owners property but is now definately at the yurt. We had great fun every night sitting in the hot tub then drying off in front of the fire pit wrapped in the dressing gowns supplied with the yurt. The only issue we had, was that he underfloor heating wasn't working at the time of our visit but wasn't missed as the gas fire wood burner look a like supplied plenty of heat. The bed also came with dual control elctric balnkets which kept us toastie at night. The yurt is brillantly located, only a 10 minute drive from both Cheltenham and Evesham. It can be difficult to spot if you are arriving in the dark, so when you come up Ashton lane from the village, turn in at the 2nd house past Beckford Silk. The yurt has plenty of power unlike other ones I have stayed at so charging gadgets and using hair dryers is not a problem. With all the lights off and sitting under the stars the yurt takes on a magical feel of peace and romance not to be missed. Think the owners are on to a winner here and I can see this place being heavily booked in the future The hosts themselves aren't intrusive and are very approachable and helpful when needed. Beckford and Ashton both have pubs which serve food. The one at Ashton we found very good but there are plenty about to choose from.

Loved it! It put the Glam in Glamping. The owners were very welcoming, friendly and gave us all the info we needed. The facilities were great- toilet, heaters, and hot tub. The area was easy to find, even in the dark.

What a fab little treasure this yurt is! It's perfect because we didn't see anyone else while we were there just each other which was exactly what we needed! We spent most evenings in the hot tub with champagne cocktails, then snuggled up in front of the fire. What a perfect way to celebrate our 1st anniversary. We will definitely go back!

Beautiful, serene and secluded setting. Although the July weather was dismal the outdoor heating and hot-tub made up for it. Went home feeling totally rested and relaxed. Have booked to go back again - in December!

I liked the comfort, privacy, environment, the helpfulness of the owners and the facilities.

Totally relaxing and the perfect get away. The owners are very friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. The lake is beautiful and the yurt has everything you would need. You just need to take a book, put your feet up and relax. The hottub and rowing boat offer something different and the bikes are available to explore the wonderful countryside. I totally agree with the previous comment and if you just want to escape, this is the place to go.

We visited The Yurt in July 2011 and it is without doubt the holiday discovery of 2011. Fantastic, superb, brilliant - words can not describe how good this is! We strongly recommend visiting and we will be returning.

The setting and the attention to detail were perfect. You couldn't wish for a better experience or more friendly welcome. Absolutely first class, don't hesitate in booking to stay here and run the risk of missing out on a fantastic opportunity to relax and enjoy.

It was every thing promised and more. One of our best holidays!

It was exceptionally well set-up; they've really thought about the details and done an amazing job. The location is very private due to clever planting. The yurt is very sturdy and despite strong winds there wasn't a single creak or flap from it. It was even better than it looked on the website.

This is the first review as we were apparently the first guests! Everything is even nicer than it looks on the website. The yurt is very solid (we had very strong winds and rain but no creaking/flapping), extremely clean and well thought out. It's quickly heated by the gas fire when required and well-lit. Hot water is on-demand so filling the bath is no problem. The fridge is quiet and there's a dishwasher, plus a really sharp knife-set and generally everything you need for the kitchen (inc salt/pepper). The outside spaces are great: fire site under trees, open deck with clever lounge-chairs & barbecue or the covered deck with bar stools & space-heater (where we spent the most time). The compost loo is very clean (fancy Swedish design), well-lit and very close to the doors, via decking/astro-turf so no mud. It was fine popping out there in the light rain. There are clever little solar lights dotted around that you don't notice until they glimmer dimly at night to add to the atmosphere. There were lots of geese around (but not right outside) so we heard/saw them and their goslings, plus ducks/ducklings and coots/cootlings(?!), lovely to sit outside to eat and watch them go by and the plop of the carp every now and again. There were some fishermen not a huge distance away, however it's all very private due to clever digging/planting. Be aware there are no curtains over the glass doors (which look over the lake), however, you could hang the fluffy bathrobes over these (there are hooks) if you are coy. But honestly there's no way anyone could see in - you just get a great view of the lake from bed. I was happy to walk around out there in the buff! Oh, and also there is a glass dome at the top (can be screw-lifted for ventilation using a pole) so there is no way to keep the yurt dark when the sun comes up. The owners were really nice, friendly (but not too friendly) and helpful and have obviously spent a lot of time and care setting this up just right. They sorted out the rowing boat for us and heated up the hot-tub (and let us know they were out which meant we felt more private in there as it's overlooked by the house). They were also keen to hear about any suggestions about how they could improve things for the next visitors (there were only very minor things). I strongly expect they'll keep everything in perfect shape. The location gets 5* for the local area (lakeside, quiet road, close to shop) but to be honest there's not a load to do around here - we ended up driving quite a lot to get to interesting places (we recommend Great Malvern, esp the puppet theatre). Had a nice bike ride around the local area though (lots of quiet roads). Top tip: there's a M&S; Simply Food attached to a petrol station in Tewkesbury where you can get good food later than anywhere else.
