Couldn’t believe our luck, this beautiful place was ours for a week! Amazing, lovely and warm, spotlessly clean and fresh smelling! As we were a multi generational family the downstairs bedroom was great for us. Every bedroom had an en-suite and there was also a single WC downstairs. There was also a tv in one of the bedrooms added bonus as I don’t think it was mentioned in the booking information. Everything about this cottage was perfect, so well presented. There was nothing you could possibly need that wasn’t there! We arrived early evening and the host had left us a light on inside such a thoughtful idea. It was so nice that he left us to settle in that night and made himself known to us the next day. What a gentleman! At the back of the cottage is an enclosed courtyard with a gate ideal for dogs and kids. There is no Wi-Fi but to be honest we rather enjoyed the break from it! Preferring board games though would suggest you take some dvds (especially for the kids) just in case the tv is rubbish! Ideally located for visiting York

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful in the cottage with all the facilities you would expect. Very good cleaning standards throughout.

This is a quality barn conversion, we really liked the layout, it was quirky and it had plenty of natural light. It is in very peaceful surroundings - sitting out on the patio in the morning with a coffee, the countryside views, and the sound of birds tweeting was just idyllic. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were a few food basics, and cleaning products provided. Towels weren't provided but we weren't fussed about bringing our own. The upstairs en-suites had large walk in showers which was lovely and there was plenty of hot water. A shower over the bath downstairs would be a bonus. We all slept comfortably, our only complaint would be that a couple of the pillowcases were a bit worn. Overall, a good base for exploring York and the surroundings. For us, as a family, it worked out much cheaper than staying in York itself and it felt like a home from home.

This is a cracking cottage, an excellent barn conversion with all the amenities you could ask for. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, although the downstairs bathroom does not have a shower, so you need to borrow a different bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped, with great sized fridge freezer, washing machine that has a 30min quick wash and a separate dryer. The cottage has a good boiler with great pressure, so is warm and the showers will leave you happy! We were an extended family of 6, over three generations, and we all liked it. The location is outside of Stamford Bridge, just a 2 mile drive or 20min walk, although the local speed along the road, so not so sure about the walking. The coop is open 6am-10pm every day, so easy to grab any essentials. (We ordered an Asda delivery before we left and got it delivered the evening we arrived, without any issues). There is no wifi in the property, so gear yourself up before you go (or have a proper holiday!) Our only concern that let our holiday down was the neighbours dogs - they are put into a run infront of this property every morning around 7.30am, and the poor springer then spends the next 20mins or so barking repeatedly. Was a great reliable alarm, if you wanted one! The dogs themselves are lovely and friendly, and appear allowed to wander around at night once the neighbours let them out the run. Overall, a really nice cottage, in a good location for accessing York and beyond, but will debate returning due to the alarm call...

We all liked the quality, cleanliness and location. We have been going to cottages over the last 18 years and this ranks in the top 2 we have been to. Very very satisfied. Please congratulate the owners on a superb cottage.

Phoned the day before to arrange key collection. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The cottage was fabulous, a lovely, well thought out conversion, with an en suite to each bedroom and equipped with everything that could be needed. It was extremely clean. The enclosed courtyard was handy for the dogs but also a really good sized grassed garden with direct access to the cottage. It was centrally heated heated with good insulation, so very warm too. We were three generations, and the cottage was great for all of us. We wanted somewhere just outside York, so we could visit the city during the day. Stamford Bridge (about 2 miles from the cottage, had a co-op (that we used), fish and chip shop, a couple of pubs and more amenities (which we didn't use) that were all very handy. The Yorkshire Wolds Trail about 8 miles to the east (just over the hill you can see from the dining room window) was a good walk, you can park at the picnic area and then cross the A166. The Cart Shed is even better than the pics. Warm, well equipped and clean with really nice owners, lovely views and a great layout., i would love to stay again and for longer!

This was one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in - and we have stayed in a lot! It had all we needed as a family of four adults. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Although this was not in one of Yorkshire's main holiday destinations, it was an area we did not know and we found lots of interesting places in an easy distance from Stamford Bridge to visit.

The Cart Shed is the best holiday house we have stayed in. Everything about it was wonderful, light and airy yet warm and comfortable. It is very well equipped and to a very high standard, we found it hard to leave! It is well placed for visiting York, the North Yorkshire Moors and Castle Howard. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

The owners were very welcoming. We were really impressed with the quality of the accommodation, especially the kitchen. There was absolutely everything you need and more provided in the numerous cupboards and drawers. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and well presented. Nice, quiet atmosphere with fantastic views of farmland. Very light cottage with plenty of bathrooms. Children loved the open space and freedom outside. We loved that we could let them play outside without any worries. We plan to come back again!

We loved the location. It is not too far out from the village, and close enough to decent shops in Pocklington. An ideal touring base to visit the surrounding area too. The light coming into the cart shed from those wonderful windows makes it a lovely light place to be. The fact the upstairs bedrooms are pretty much plunged into darkness at night time makes for a fantastic nights sleep in my book.

Rated by Mr Paris reviewed on 2nd July 2014

A lovely rural, peaceful location but not far from local village. An excellent standard of accommodation.

Everything about this holiday was excellent; from the start of booking to the very last day of our stay. The directions were first class as was the accommodation, with all that met our needs and more. It was indeed very comfortable and well catered for. The owners were very helpful and we felt we had known them for years making us feel right at home. We would certainly book again in the future.

This is possibly the best self catering cottage we have ever stayed in. It was our second visit and it will not be our last!. The owners are welcoming, helpful and friendly. The attention to detail is excellent. We have a disabled gentleman in our party and the cottage is well laid out and spacious enough to meet his needs perfectly. Already looking forward to our next visit.

The Cart Shed is ideally situated for visiting all the main tourist attractions in this part of Yorkshire. The property was in excellent condition and very comfortable. We were a party of six adults and had no problems with lack of space or storage for everything we bought with us. The views from the patio area at the back of the property were great, we often sat there in the mornings and evenings enjoying the view and peace and quiet. All in all perfect holiday accommodation.

The location and the cottage were both fantastic. We went away for relaxed chilled out hen party and this was exactly what we got. Perfect in every way!

Rated by Miss Graham reviewed on 10th February 2013

After a dismal journey from Hertfordshire, my daughter, son-in-law and I arrived at the Cart Shed feeling tired and jaded. We were met by the owners who welcomed us cheerily. The cottage was even better than we had expected with every possible convenience and real luxury. The heating was more than adequate so that we were soon warm. Unfortunately the dishwasher had been out of operation for a while and the previous visitors hadn't washed up very well so we had to wash cups before we could have a drink and plates before our evening meal. Nevertheless the kitchen was very well fitted and spacious enough for us all to be involved in the cooking. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well. My son-in-law's family live in and around York so we were able to see them all from our comfortable base at the cottage. All it lacked was an open fire to compensate for the awful weather, and some recognition that it was Christmas. Other cottages we have rented at this time of year have had a Christmas tree and some holly - a small expense to make it extra special.

We stayed at the cart shed in early November for a long weekend. It's pure luxury! Lovely spacious bedrooms, nice open plan kitchen, fantastic views, would definitely recommend.the only gripe I had was when my 5 year old son saw a swing in the garden and went on it and suddenly a very unhappy and grumpy man appeared saying its his garden ! Well how was my 5 year old son supposed to know that ?! I'm sure we can't have been the first to have had this problem and I think it needs addressing , apart from that it was a fantasic weekend.

The cart shed was furnished to a very high standard, with good views over fields. Easy 20 mins walk along a not too busy road into the nearest village, which has lots of history, great walks, great cafe and even better whisky shop! Highly recommended!

Terrific location and the cottage is finished to an exceptionally high standard!

Rated by Mrs Prentice reviewed on 7th March 2012

The house has been converted to a very high standard and only been used since October 2011 so everything is very new and in immaculate condition. We were staying over the Christmas holiday and the owner very kindly added some extra kitchen equipment - an extra large roasting tin and carving set - to assist with the cooking of the turkey.
