Reviews

Living in the village ourselves, we were looking for additional accommodation to house relatives who were flying in from overseas to visit a gravely ill member of the family. Being in the almost unique position of being able to identify and visit rental properties in the village, we opted for 5 Ivy Terrace on the basis of website reviews, a drive by (and a good old fashioned peek through the windows!) The property is great for large families (with a separate lounge upstairs should the need arise) with everything you need to hand. If I had to nit-pick I would point out the need to clean the external windows on a more frequent basis as they were extremely grimy and detract from one of the major selling points of the property, this being the view. This aside, this really is a fantastic place to stay and is thoroughly recommended.

The location and the views from all four of the front rooms, the front terrace and the balcony are beautiful. Hours can be happily spent people, tide and weather watching. The sea and mountain views are ever changing. The village is also very peaceful at night so ideal for folk with a young family. Loved the beaches just around the corner and along the coastal path. The house is very well kitted out with both home comforts and technology.

A fantastic location and excellent standard of accommodation! Everything we needed and more was provided in the cottage. The gardens at the front and rear were excellent. There was plenty of parking on the roadside and adjacent car park and two superb restaurants within a few hundred yards! One week was nowhere near enough to do all the area has to offer, we're going to need at least another month there! Overall a great experience and can't wait to get back there ASAP!

From the moment we entered the property it felt like we were home. The house was extremely comfortable, relaxing and located in a very scenic and quiet peaceful place. We would almost certainly visit this property again in the future.

We loved the upstairs lounge overlooking the views and the flexibility with the bed settee, large living space downstairs and the downstairs shower room as well as upstairs bathroom. The stair gate was a very useful addition too.

The location is great, with lovely views across a peaceful bay and a great base for touring Snowdonia and the Lleyn area. A very comfortable and well equipped cottage, and so clean - a real pleasure to stay at.

Could not have wished for anything more. The furnishings were of good quality and the whole place was more like a permanent home, rather than a holiday let.

Beautiful cottage in an ideal location.

The location, the viewing lounge on the first floor and the attention to detail of how the house is stocked and kitted out is amazing. We have now booked the same place for the third year running; a truly excellent holiday home.

The upstairs sitting room overlooking the bay was wonderful. A bonus was an excellent restaurant next door and a cafe within sight! Walks straight from the cottage were interesting and easy.

An excellent location with the beach on the doorstep. A good use of space; we were 4 adults, a toddler and a baby but didn't feel on top of each other. It was nice to sit and have breakfast outside looking at the harbour and there was a great view from the upstairs lounge. The house felt very family friendly with games and beach toys provided. Would use this house again.

Beautiful cottage, tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, with a glorious view and sandy beaches within walking distance.

It was very welcoming, a home from home and the facilities were excellent. It was very clean with lots of extras, for example, games and DVDs for the children. It's a fantastic location, even on dull days, the views are excellent. The children loved the bay, the beach, the harbour and the steam trains in Porthmadog.

This is the second year we have rented this house, it ticks all the boxes. The house is excellent and the location is great, with a beach around corner for all to enjoy. Nice walk into Porthmadog so not having to use the car is a big advantage. We have already booked for next year!

Rated by Mrs Blatcher reviewed on 7th May 2014

The location and views were stunning. Sitting on the balcony and in the window seats overlooking the water was perfect. The cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the area - we were able to climb mountains but also do coastal walks. Really enjoyed having the coastal path and beautiful beaches on the doorstep.

Beautiful experience in a great location , we can't wait to go back and retrace our week in Borth y gest . Accomodation first class with every consideration catered for , and right on the coastal walk route with amazing views . A short walk in to Porthmadoc and a short drive to many small but beautiful towns , you won't be disappointed

5 Ivy terrace is a lovely property with plenty of room for our group of 8 friends. The location is perfect, quiet and scenic but just a short walk from the livelier Porthmadog. The house is well equipped with a large kitchen and living area. The decor is lovely and the views are great, especially from the top of the lovely garden.

Rated by LadyPashley reviewed on 20th May 2013

8 of us stayed here for a long weekend, it was perfect for our trip. We were doing some walking and touristy things in the area and this was a great base. We spent as much time in the cottage as out, and it was great for us all to sit round, eating and drinking. Plenty of room, lovely bedrooms and great outside areas - we sat in the front on the patio eating breakfast in the morning and out in the huge back garden in the evening looking at the views. I highly recommend this cottage and will be staying again with family in future.

We had a fabulous week at Ivy Cottage. The location is perfect - overlooking the bay and next door to an excellent eaterie. The cottage itself is very well equipped with TVs and Dvds in every bedroom, and every amenity provided in the kitchen. The owner is helpful and friendly if needed.

Rated by Mrs Davies reviewed on 12th October 2012

The location was superb, the house had a beautiful view which we never tired of even on the rainy day we had. Also we found that you didn't have to travel too far in the car to make use of the local attractions.

Rated by Mr Friend reviewed on 1st September 2012

The location was fantastic - and the property was ideally situated, comfortable and very well equipped, with brilliant views over the bay at Borth y Gest and the estuary beyond. We had a lovely family holiday and would certainly consider booking the property again.

Rated by Mr Harris reviewed on 20th August 2012

We loved the location, the view out of the windows was great and the village was lovely. North Wales is a great place to visit. We had an excellent meal at the Moorings Bistro. The beaches in the area were also very nice.

Rated by Mr Gettings reviewed on 29th July 2012

The situation was perfection, right on the water's edge, at least almost! The restaurant next door was fabulous, ate there several times, in fact our last night drinks were on the house!

Rated by Mrs Dent reviewed on 27th July 2012

The property is set in an idyllic part of the world, stunning views of the coast and in a pretty little village. My family were the first to stay at the cottage and were warmly welcomed by the owners who couldn't do enough for us. The property itself is absolutely beautiful and finished to such a high standard, the original photos on the site do not do it justice. The log burner gives the front room a real cosy feel and as the weekend we went was a wet one it was nice to come home to. I would highly recommend this cottage and don't think anyone would be disappointed on arrival. The small quaint restaurant next door, 'The Moorings' is a must.
