Reviews

We loved this accommodation for our family reunion of 5 adults and a baby. We had lots of personal space in this large accommodation which is very well equipped with everything useful without being cluttered. The outside area is private and secure. Highlights were the Peak Wildlife Park and the heritage Churnet Valley steam train, both within a few miles. We made visits to Bakewell and the English Heritage Brindley Mill in Leek. Thornbury Hall Indian restaurant in Kingsley Holt is excellent and we visited Ipstones pubs and shop too. Thanks to Karen and her team who keep the place so clean and welcoming

What an amazing place, felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. As a party of 8 adults and a dog, it catered well in terms of space for everyone. Fully equipped to meet all our needs, the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. Lovely to speak to them before we arrived and after settling in, to make sure we was ok. Would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Meadow Place with our family. the cottage is spacious, well equipped and extremely clean and welcoming. Due to the layout even with 10 people together you do not feel on top of each other. It is a ten minuet drive form Alton Towers. There are two local pubs and shop a five minuet walk from the cottage We visited Trentham Estates - shops, garden centre and amazing gardens a monkey forest where you can see the monkeys in their natural habitat close up. I would recommend the Fox and Goose pub - amazing food Would recommend Meadow Place to anyone looking for a place to stay with a large family.

Huge spacious converted farmhouse.Upside down house, only thing we found it did not have, was a sharp knife, or sharpener! Fantastic place for family get togethers! without being on top of each other, all bedrooms ensuite! fully enclosed garden, to keep your dogs safe. all mod cons.Huge dining room, even huger lounge! Had a wonderful week.

Just finished week in this cottage, 4 adults & 4 children. It's a beautiful cottage & can't fault it. 4 lovely bedrooms downstairs, massive sitting room upstairs. Nice big dining room too. Kitchen has everything you could need & there's also a lovely sunroom upstairs from the kitchen which has another bed on it. Great garden too, which we sat out on late every night as it was so hot. It's on a lovely village. There's 3 pubs. We ate twice at Marquis of Granby which was great. Village surrounded by beautiful countryside, with plenty of information in cottage about things to do. It was great.

We would not recommend this property at all, there was a revolting disgusting smell in two bathrooms and the smell went into the bedrooms. What a shame, the size of the accommodation is good but two of the bathrooms really stank when used. Evidently according to the owners and Sykes there is an airlock problem, hence the smell. Also another bathroom had a toilet that leaked and the grandchildren kept getting wet socks. The owner who lives next door said try pushing the toilet back a bit and the leak may stop! She also said don’t use two things in the bathroom at one time to stop the smell from happening. We didn’t really want to go to the toilet without washing our hands!!! We would not recommend this property!!

This place is just magical, the photos we saw just don't do it justice at all. It's cosy, its pretty, its well equipped, it's spacious! Beautiful location, easy to find, plenty of space to park, comfy beds (although a little squeaky) fantastic living room and a magnificent hall entrance! None of us wanted to leave this beautiful holiday home, i won't hesitate to go back if we get the chance!

The interior design of this property has been done brilliantly. The property was very well set out and had more than enough space for our party of 9. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

The 'cottage', a converted barn, in the lovely village of Ipstones was a great place to stay! The whole property was well equipped with plenty of space for our party of 9. All of the 5 bedrooms had plenty of space with comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, who was happy to help and very welcoming. We couldn't have asked for any more on the break and I recommend this property to any party of a similar size!

Me and a 8 other friends decided to go on a week holiday, we wanted a place with things to do and places to go, and by no means were we disappointed. Meadow Place was amazing, considering we were a large group of 18 year olds, it was great that the owners were trusting, on the first day they came to see if we had settled in okay and if there were any problems, which there were non. The building and garden were great, very spacious, good sized rooms, and great facilities. The living room was spacious and warming, and the house was just a nice size, at no point did anybody feel as though we were falling over each other. due to it being self catering, there was a small corner shop in town, with basic supplies, but a 5 minute drive away in Cheadleton there was a Morrisons and an Asda. Moreover it was only a 15 minute car journey from Alton Towers, which was a great day out. Overall I was extremely happy with the house, a great bargin, well placed, overall I would recommend to any family and friends. Hope to come back soon.

We have just returned from a long weekend at this property. We were a party of 8 (extended family) and a number of canine guests too. The property was great, with 4 x bedrooms on the ground floor and all en-suite so each couple had their own space, then spacious comfortable communal areas upstairs. There is plenty of off road parking too. The property is really well equipped and in a great location with 3 pubs (2 that serve food) and a village shop all within a short walk. I really can highly recommend staying here.

Meadow Place! A superb holiday 'cottage' (rather, a large beautifully converted barn!) where it would not have mattered to be snowed in, or cut off from the world! With a roaring fire, 50inch TV and lots of rooms to lose excited toddlers, we certainly enjoyed a happy family get-together! The outings to Sudbury Hall, Ilam Park and Ashbourne endeared the area to us - we certainly need to come back to see more!

Rated by Mr Allinson reviewed on 22nd February 2015

The proportions of the cottage and its location in a good village with pubs and shop within walking distance. As my group are walkers, we like that there are walks from the cottage and also that it is close to the Peak District and The Roaches. We particularly liked the superb lounge with wood burner, 4 bedrooms being en-suite, and the spacious hallway. Had an attentive owner, who seems to care that we enjoyed our holiday.

Rated by Mr Gilbert reviewed on 16th December 2014

I have seen a lot of people saying this property is ideal for 'older travellers'. We spent a long weekend there in December with a group ranging from early 20's to 50's and I would say this property is ideal for anyone, regardless of age. Clean, well presented, and far more spacious than we had hoped for, we were all a little blown away by the size of the property upon arrival, even with a group of 10 space was never an issue. The unlimited logs and coal for the open fire were fantastic, and the location is peaceful but secluded so there is no concern that you may be annoying the neighbours (within reason, of course). The owner popped round shortly after we arrived to run through things we may not be aware of, such as how to control the heating, where to find more wood for the fire, and where the bins were located if we filled the ones in the property. Other than that we were very much left to ourselves while we were there which was great. Absolutely no complaints, with a well stocked shop and multiple pubs in the village, and many scenic walks in the nearby area Meadow Place really is a fantastic and well priced property if you are looking to get away to the countryside for a while, I would definitely recommend it.

We didn't need to go far to find excellent walks, wonderful scenery, pretty villages and fantastic gardens to visit. The lounge is huge, the dining room is part of a minstrels' gallery and through the other side of the kitchen is a good-sized children's playroom.

I liked the fact that the cottage had en-suite's in most of the rooms and that the garden was closed in as we had a child with us. I have never been happier with an accommodation that I have stayed in before.

Rated by Miss Cuffe reviewed on 6th May 2009

This property is ideal for a number of families as it has plenty of internal space. We were very pleased with the accommodation.

Rated by Mrs Fennell reviewed on 25th March 2009

The property was comfortable and warm in a good location. We are always looking for 4-5 bedrooms with en-suites and this fitted the bill well. A well stocked wood shed to keep the log fire burning. It made for an overall great week and we plan to return for next year!

Rated by Mrs Stanley reviewed on 5th January 2009

An ideal place for a good family Christmas.

Rated by Mr Hargrave reviewed on 30th December 2008

We felt the property was of an excellent size to accommodate 8-10 adults without feeling at all enclosed or cramped. The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked. The focus and attention to waste recycling was great to see.

This was our third year staying at Meadow Place and it was as clean and fresh as the first year. Meadow Place is a beautiful barn conversion and delightful to stay in, especially in winter with a roaring fire going. All rooms being an ensuite is a real bonus. We are already planning our fourth stay for next year!

Rated by Miss Barron reviewed on 20th November 2007

Plenty of room for the party. The open fire and the dining facilities were appreciated. The outside set up was very good and allowed for outside activities where the dog could roam in complete safety.

Rated by Mr Lewis reviewed on 13th September 2007

The cottage was in an excellent location and everything was provided for plus nice little touches like milk and biscuits waiting for us on arrival. The owners of the cottage had also provided information on things to do in the area which helped us to decide what to do on days out.

Rated by Mr Clasper reviewed on 5th July 2007

The cottage was spacious and the facilities, especially the en-suite bathrooms were good. The cottage looked better than the brochure pictures. The village people were friendly and the location although built up around the cottage was very quiet. We were all impressed by the way the conversion had made the most of the space. We would recommend it and would return. The area is beautiful and in spite of the weather we were able to do a couple of long walks.

Meadow Place is wonderful homely property. Lovely and warm and very spacious. The gated garden/courtyard is a superb and safe area for children to play or pets be outside. Lovely part of the country to visit.

Rated by Best reviewed on 16th January 2007

The house was warm and the owners welcoming. Particularly liked the log burning stove, the fact there was a Christmas tree and the big wooden refectory table which we could all fit around for long meals. The big squashy sofas and coffee table made the big living room very comfy for a larger party to relax in - we had a really lovely early family reunion Christmas and there was lots of room for everyone.

Rated by Ms Gwilliam reviewed on 23rd December 2006

Our second visit to Meadow Place. Just like our first time there it exceeded our expectations. Ipstones is a lovely setting with the owners of the property both friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We hope to return in the future.

Rated by Mr Rance reviewed on 28th November 2006

A lovely property, and The Old Red Lion pub was very friendly with good food.

Rated by Mrs Hall reviewed on 7th November 2006

It never felt crowded even with ten of us in it. It was good having en-suite facilities to every bedroom. The children enjoyed the playroom, even though they were rather old for the toys in there. There were plenty of places suitable for families to visit within a relatively short distance. We were able to go somewhere different each day.

Rated by Mrs Corns reviewed on 5th September 2006

We cannot fault the property - especially the cleanliness. The best holiday accommodation we have stayed in.

Rated by Miss Collard reviewed on 27th July 2006

The barn conversion was of a very high quality with more than enough room for a large party. Having ensuites in all rooms was a real advantage. We would love to come to this property again, as it more than catered for our needs. Highly recommended.

Rated by Miss Hopes reviewed on 6th February 2006

The cottage was amazing and beyond our expectations. The rooms were finished off to a very high standard and it was such a treat to have an en-suite in every bedroom! We had a lovely time and did not want to leave. We will certainly be making a return visit!

Rated by Miss Elliott reviewed on 22nd November 2005

Everything about Meadow Place was like being in a "Home from Home", it was ideally situated for our foray into The Peak District and our day at Alton Towers, and just a short walk from the village pubs if we didn't want to cook. We couldn't ask for a better location and standard of accommodation. We will be back!

Rated by Mrs Swann reviewed on 4th July 2005

Meadow Place was rented to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday with the rest of the family, hence the requirement for 5 bedrooms. We were not disappointed !! The barn conversion was superb and allowed sufficient room for everyone without being in each others pockets. Local scenery was stunning and people from the village friendly. Enough places of interest to keep everyone happy for a week including trips to Alton Towers, Heights of Abraham, etc. Seriously, this is one of the best family holidays we have had.

Rated by Mr Rance reviewed on 3rd April 2005

Great to have 4 ensuite bathrooms. Fabulous open fire. Owner very helpful and friendly. Fox and Goose serves lovely bar food. The Roaches is a good walk.

Rated by Mr Lines reviewed on 12th March 2005

Wonderful barn conversion - the way that it was all set out (upside down) was a real advantage, and we liked the open fire. Plenty of equipment and entertainment for toddlers. The fact that all 4 bedrooms were ensuite was brilliant - no queue! Perfect area for walking. Local pub had nice smoke free restaurant. Overall it was excellent, and we would certainly recommend it.

Rated by Mrs Evans reviewed on 16th December 2004

Fantastic place - the barn is beautiful - we had a really hot week and the barn has a good layout with the bedrooms downstairs - this and the thick walls kept the overnight temperatures really cool inside - it was a really great holiday and we will be coming back to this place.... Our kids loved the frogs in the small pond in the front garden. Privacy with the gates was nice too - and it was sooo quiet.

Rated by Mr Curtis reviewed on 16th December 2004
