A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Reviews

I have stayed at The Barn previously in 2012 so it was great to go back and stay. The Barn is very well equipt with everything you could possibly need. A definite home from home. Unfortunately did not see Fiona this time but the staff at the Farm Shop are extremely helpful if you need anything. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again when I am next in the UK.

We had an amazing weekend at the barn over the new year weekend. The barn has everything you could ever need, the barn is well presented and the log burner keeps the rooms toasty. The owners are very nice and are happy to give advice on the local area and let you walk the dog in their fields. The farm shop on site has some exceptional pork meats and local products on sale and the staff there were also very helpful and recommended some of the specialities / personnal favourites (you get a discount at the shop when you stay at the barn). We will definitely return for another relaxing weekend with the dog.

The views from the property were lovely, and we loved being right next to the farm shop. Lots of places to walk.

In a very quiet location and the owners made us very welcome. The Barn is well situated, allowing easy access to Wales and other surrounding counties. This was an excellent place to stay, we would definitely recommend to others.

Super friendly owners, a lovely barn and area. I can't recommend enough and will be going back again at some time. 10 out of 10.

It was an excellent week and we packed a lot in. We really liked the accommodation and the owners were extremely nice and helpful. I would love to go back there and I will!!

We particularly liked how well furnished, warm and cosy The Barn was, it's really home from home when you can have such a lovely place to sit and relax. The bed was extremely comfy, and the cottage was warm, particularly important in February, and there was plenty of hot water.

The Barn was a wonderful property and ideal for exploring the wider Shropshire countryside. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly and were very helpful in the family history research we were doing. Having their farm shop and the bakery on site made for delicious fresh local produce. An ideal location for a short break!

Rated by Mr Phillips reviewed on 16th February 2016

A lovely setting, and the décor/design of the property was extremely good. The hosts were extremely friendly and the food from the farm shop was amazing.

Rated by Mr Schmid reviewed on 19th September 2015

The apartment is located on a farm in beautiful countryside. The owners live on site and are friendly and helpful. Also there is a farm shop on site selling artisan breads and pork products. There was lots to do in the area, whether visiting a national trust property or long walks along the waterways. All in all an excellent base to explore the area.

Rated by Mrs Parker reviewed on 11th July 2015

It was very peaceful and quiet, the farm shop and bakery on site were great. The property was not far from places to visit and the supermarket was only 6 miles away. Will be returning here soon. This property is also dog friendly which is great. A big thank you to the owners.

We really enjoyed our short break. The Barn was cosy and well equipped and the owners are a very welcoming and friendly couple. The use of their fields to exercise or dog was an added bonus. We wouldn't think twice about booking again and therefore highly recommend The Barn.

Rated by Mr Harmston reviewed on 13th February 2015

Very relaxing and quiet. The TV, black and white movies & a wood burner were perfect! We all enjoyed the break, including the dog!

The Barn is a lovely place to stay. Plenty of room to spread out, parking by the bottom of the steps. Lovely views through the lounge windows. The owners were very friendly without being intrusive, and the staff in the shop were lovely too. Spacious bedroom plenty of storage for clothing. Wifi a bonus feature.

The Barn was an excellent, well appointed cottage and a perfect base to explore the beautiful countryside around, which even at this time of year had so much to offer.

Rated by Mr Pallot reviewed on 29th November 2014

Fabulous barn in a beautiful area. The most comfy bed ever.

Rated by Mrs Bennett reviewed on 12th October 2014

An especially comfortable barn conversion with ample space for two… Maisie the dog is extremely friendly, just like her owners. We had endless pleasure watching the sheep in the evenings. A haven of peace and tranquillity in the North Shropshire countryside. It felt like home.

Rated by Ms Langley-brown reviewed on 13th August 2014

The Barn was in beautiful countryside with magnificent views. The pictures on the website perfectly matched the reality. We enjoyed the comfortable seating as we watched the sheep from the window. It was easy to access Shrewsbury, (Park and Ride) and other places of interest from the road outside the gate. The rooms were lovely and light with natural lighting and there was more than enough storage space for our clothes etc. The bed was one of the most comfortable, apart from ours, we have ever slept on. We liked the old cradle which when we arrived had the lovely thick towels in it.

Rated by Mrs Downs reviewed on 26th July 2014

As this was a little break over the Christmas week we wanted it to be relaxing, quiet and peaceful. This is exactly what we received! Being a military family means a lot of upheaval and time apart so to spend a delicious week in this little barn surrounded by the countryside is exactly what we wanted. We cannot praise it high enough.

Rated by Mrs Circuit reviewed on 28th December 2013

Lovely location and people, they could not do enough for us. We will stay there again, and would be happy to recommend it to friends. It was lovely and warm, and the seating area is very cosy.

Really lovely place to stay to escape from it all, nice and quiet, great for dog owners, was able to walk round owners field with our dog. The barn had everything we needed for our stay, the owners were away so we didn't meet them. The farm shop was great too.

A spacious and well appointed house in peaceful location, and with the bonus of the farm shop on site for wonderful fresh baked bread and meat. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Rated by Mrs Wickett reviewed on 8th April 2013

Very quiet and comfortable. The cottage was brilliantly appointed and was really spacious and airy. The farm shop was great.

Rated by Mr Boak reviewed on 8th March 2013

The cottage was good, not much places to go for a walk, you have to drive the car if you need to go even to the nearest pub, which was great at all. The service was very good and friendly. Nice view from the bedroom window, but a bit unusual that the cottage is on the first floor, so there is no private garden really. Very good farm shop just right next to the cottage. Nice lake isnt far from the cottage but only for a short walk around. Overall it was a good romantic stay.

We received a lovely welcome from the owners. Perfect for the dog as we were able to walk her in the fields. Great days out to attingham Park, Wroxeter Roman City and Ellesmere. However the best was Hawkstone Park just down the road. The Barn was a very nice cottage for a weeks holiday which we thoughly enjoyed.

We enjoyed the warm and friendly welcome from the owners, and the convenience of the fantastic farm shop on site. Being central to so many lovely attractions and walks was lovely, but mostly we enjoyed the peace and tranquility whilst there, despite the road being within yards of the property. We absolutely loved it.
