Fabulous hospitality. Lovely clean accomodation. If the owner offers you cake, definitely accept. Great for circular walks.

Nice cottage with great walks and things to do nearby. The lovely owner made things extra special leaving eggs, bread, butter, wine and homemade scones. The snow falling on the Derbyshire Dales made it even more lovely. Our dog loved it and had great walks along the Cromford Canal and TIssington trail. A nice pub within walking distance was a blast from the past, like stepping into the 1940's! But a great pub about a mile away serving homemade food called the "Miners Standard" Will be booking again!

Red Lion at Birchover is an excellent local brewpub, community shop in Winster for necessities. Maya the Collie loved walking Lathkill Dale, Chee Dale, Stanton Moor, Longstone Edge etc

We loved this cottage; it was situated in a quiet village and was a short drive to all the local tourist attractions. There were some beautiful speckled hens which were housed near the cottage and I loved seeing them every day. My favourite thing about this cottage was the pretty enclosed garden. Rated by Mrs Harvey reviewed on 28th September 2012

We received a friendly greeting from the owners, which made us feel at home immediately and a further welcome awaited us indoors in the form of milk, bread and butter, tea, coffee, home-made cake and even a bottle of wine! The property was clean; the bed firm and comfortable; plenty of storage space; and the kitchen equipped with all the bits and pieces one could wish. Although the secluded garden at the rear was surrounded by hedging, obscuring the view, the owners were very pleased to allow visitors to enter their own garden via a gate and enjoy the view from there. For those wishing to leave the car behind, it was only a short walk to the main village street which was well served by the local bus, giving access to Bakewell and Matlock. We liked everything about the cottage except the sticking stable door to the garden, but this wouldn't stop us coming back to enjoy anothe holiday in this lovely place.

Weve given Barn Croft the full five stars because on the whole it deserves it. Carolyn the owner was so very thoughtful with a lovely starter pack inc wine aned then in the middle of the week scones and a lemon cake! what kindness. The cottage was just about the right size for the two of us with a great garden to sit in. Location was very central, 15mins to Matlock and 5 to the miners pub. If I was being very picky, we are used to a 42inch plasma so we found the TV hard to see, if that was put right then you would have the perfect cottage for a stay!!!

I was looking for peace and comfort in a very natural environment, and the holiday met my expectations in every way. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly and the cottage was delightful. I liked the cottage's stable door opening onto the wonderful garden, with beautiful views, nearby hens, pigs, visiting pheasants and even deer! My little dog enjoyed her first holiday too...she really liked the cottage.
