Reviews

We arrived on Saturday 17th June at 3.15pm for 7 nights at Sunshine Lodge, Stogursey, Somerset which is a Sykes lodge. We were meant to stay for 7 nights however my wife wanted to go home after 1 night. We finally decided to leave at 10am today Wednesday 21st June. Safe to say the place could do with a decent clean. Never have we stayed somewhere so dirty. Not only that but hearing the lodge owners dogs barking every morning between 6am and 7am isn't acceptable. Staying so far from shops and the nearest supermarket you expect to have a decent size fridge and freezer. The freezer barely fitted 2 microwave meals and an ice pack. Glasses covered in grease, radiator in the bathroom filthy, a mouldy shower mat, hairs on the bathroom walls, the double bed mattress just falling apart, cheap wardrobes barely worth having with no doors, a review 2 weeks ago stated a disgusting mop covered in bits outside which was still there, oven hob disgusting, grease on kitchen doors, several left food items well out of date (Dec 2021 on the pasta ), air fresheners left plugged in and on with nothing in them, bathroom shelf barely hanging on the wall, toaster was disgusting and doesn't work properly, fridge freezer pointless. Oh and we found a frying pan in the drawer just disgusting with grease/oil And rust on the shower rail that I believe someone left a review about in August 2020 Sykes have said they won't be doing anything about it. Not surprisingly really. They received their payment and couldn't care less.

Just got back from a weeks stay, ideal for us 3 adults and 4 dogs. Very rural but suited us, plenty of places to visit within a short drive. Visited minehead, wells and Bristol, great secure garden for the dogs. Comfortable beds. Already booked again next year, only things that stopped this being a 5 star is no Wi-Fi, dishwasher and washing machine

This property has a rat infestation. There are rats nests in the garden and a rat runway between this property and the one next door. There are rats in the loft and although the owner has thrown poison up there they are still there. I heard them scratching at night. Please be careful especially with children going there and any pets staying I found wrappers from the poison thrown in the loft in the garden. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO SYKES COTTAGES BUT THEY DON@T SEEM VERY INTERESTED!

We absolutely loved this property. We loved the living area as it is all open planned and enough space for our three large dogs. The garden was also a massive positive as it was so secure and it meant we didn't need to worry about the dogs being outside. Although this property is out in the sticks, you're still close to some life with a short drive away. The owner is also very lovely! This is a fabulous place!

We have stayed there before as it is an excellent location for our dogs. We are particularly happy with the very secure gardens and the owner makes you feel very welcome. It is clean and well laid out with everything you will need. We will be booking again.

Sunshine Lodge is a brilliant dog friendly cottage, it has two gardens which are really secure and we had no worries of letting the dogs out in the garden alone. This is a warm and cosy and well equipped cottage and we would definitely recommend.

The cottage was very comfortable. We were made very welcome and the best part was that the dogs were made very welcome and the garden was 100% secure, which was great. The property is in a great location for touring the area with plenty to do.

This was advertised as a dog friendly cottage and it was certainly that. The conversion had been done by someone that understands dogs, yet the quality was very high, much better than an average cottage. The garden is dog proof and floodlit.

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, it was marvellous for our three dogs as they couldn't get out of the garden which put our minds at peace. The owner was always there for us if we needed her and we would like to say thanks to her for a great holiday.

Liked the comfort and cleanliness of the cottage, really a treat to come back to after being out during the day with the dogs. The garden was really secure and safe for our dogs which made life easy with them.

Absolutely loved our stay at the cottage. Everything was perfect and the little added extras were a lovely touch. It was an ideal location and had beautiful scenery which was lovely. We were very grateful for such a short notice booking as well.

Lovely, cosy cottage that was very dog friendly with the fully enclosed garden, dog towels and home made dog biscuits which made it feel like the owner really wanted our dogs there.

The accommodation is lovely & clean with good décor and a nice homely feel. A great area for exploring places. The owner goes the extra mile to make you and your dog feel welcome with little extra treats waiting on arrival. This is a great place to unwind and enjoy, who needs to spend buckets of money on a spa holiday to feel refreshed!

Fabulous little cottage. Perfect for exploring the coast, Exmoor and Cheddar Gorge. The dogs were perfectly safe in the enclosed garden - even the little escape artiste we have! The owner was so lovely and friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be going again and would not hesitate to recommend this lovely little place.

The personal touches were amazing. Home made dog biscuits, doggy towels, bowl of water waiting and chocolates on each bed. The cottage was lovely and warm, lots of games and puzzles for the children and we didn't need to buy anything extra. It was an ideal location for the dogs, contained front and back gardens with lots of walks nearby. Beach was quite close and lots of good restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend/return.
