Overall this is a great sized property for the recommended number of people and we would be willing to stay again, more so if the issues are fixed. Good points include the upstairs bathroom being a great size with a gorgeous bath and shower, location is great close to nice pubs and amazing walks, the garden is a great size and well enclosed for dogs, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking and has a good sized fridge/freezer and oven. The sofas and beds are a little tired but really comfy and more than fine for the purpose. There are some negatives though and points that need fixing. The washing machine wasn't working, it didn't appear to have a hot water supply and hence we were left with cold wet dirty washing. The clothes airer provided is broken with plastic parts snapped, we were unsure as to why this was left in the property, luckily we had brought our own. A few of the bulbs in the lamps were not working, these just need to be checked and replaced. No fuel was provided for the fire despite this being advertised on the listing and there was some newspaper filled with ashes at the side uncleaned. Frustratingly a lot of the doors won't close properly as the latches are either not there at all or don't work. This can make it difficult stopping dogs/ children leaving certain rooms. There is no starter pack provided so you have to crawl on the floor get to the wifi password and figure things out like laundry and bins for yourself. There was not enough hand soap and toilet rolls in the property so we had to buy more of our own. Only 3 hand towels were provided despite there being 7 of us in the house. The seal around the downstairs shower needs replacing as now the water spills out if the shower head is pointed towards the shower screen. The kitchen needs much better cleaning in the future, there was an open packet of something on top of the fridge, many of the insides of the cupboards were messy and greasy, and the floor was black when you wiped it with a damp piece of kitchen paper.
The house has a 'Tardis' feel to it.As you enter the house you are greeted with a huge hall and very impressive staircase. All four bedrooms were superb and the bathroom was beautiful.Lounge ,snug, and dining room were very roomy with everything needed for cosy nights in.Kitchen was wonderful with everything to hand.Dog friendly garden was a bonus much appreciated by Elvis, the Cocker.Village amenities were sufficient for our stay with a beautiful snooker room upstairs at the pub.Thoroughly recommend the Navigation pub in the next village of Buxworth for real ale and super food.Well worth a little drive out.
Excellent property, had a wonderful weekend stay, felt like a home from home with all amenities, very comfortable, beautiful home. We took far too much food, there is Londis shop next door but one which sold everything we needed. Beautiful location and a wonderful property, highly recommend
This was our second time at Lower Lane House, it is large, comfortable and a relaxing place to stay. An excellent base from which to explore the Peak District.
Used the house as a base for a walking weekend with friends. Perfectly located for the our needs and the house was very warm and comfortable. A great shame that it was let down but the finer details- examples - only 7 towels and should have been 8 - 1 per head, no remote for the DVD player, no soap or hand towels in the toilets - just little things that can be easily rectified with a little attention.
We had a fantastic weekend - 3 generations of family for a birthday celebration, together with our Labrador. The house is spacious and comfortable, in a great location 8 minutes walk from a real ale pub with good food, and there is an Indian takeaway a few doors away, which we also used. There were good walking routes on the doorstep. This house in Chinley was one of the best holiday homes we have ever stayed at, highly recommend.
Lovely house, well equipped and good location.
It was nice and relaxing, we enjoyed the scenery and there was plenty to do in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lower Lane House in. The house was huge and beautiful inside. The kids loved having their own sitting room and TV! The area is beautiful with lots of lovely walks. We would definitely recommend both the cottage and the area.
Lower Lane House is a very nice house and one which we would be happy to come back to. All very comfortable and clean. Very handy for the Peak District and there are some nice walks around Chinley too.
Beautiful cottage which was very homely, welcoming and very spacious. Our family had a variety of walking distance 'capability' and all of us found appropriate walks. Close by amenities were very useful and a large supermarket was not too far away. The wonderful enclosed garden made it safe for two dogs. Separate lounges made it a good place for grandma to escape from the rest of the hustle and bustle. Had extremely comfortable beds.
A relaxing family holiday in peaceful surroundings.
Bathroom, toilet and kitchen were excellent! The wooden floor and grand staircase in the entrance hall were fantastic! The Double bedrooms were beautiful and the wooden sleigh bed is gorgeous. In a great location with a 5-10 min walk to 2 really good pubs, a great little convenience shop, pharmacy and Indian all on the doorstep! Good amenities while still feeling quaint and rural!
Location was excellent. The House was set up very well, everything we asked for was there and the village is very good.
We arrived at the house later on the Friday night and we walked in and were amazing. The hous is lovely with spacious rooms and bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. The facilities within the house were good, free wifi, tv's and many others. We all enjoyed our stay at this house. It is in a lovely location although you do have to travel for a 'proper' shop. There is a curry house next door and a little shop. Would definitely return again!
A beautiful house which met our every need. Had spacious rooms.
A beautiful property, very well equipped for a self catering holiday. Ideally situated for shops and lovely surroundings for dog walking and children getting lots of fresh air. We didn't even mind the rain when one day we didn't get to go out.
The cottage/house had plenty of room as there was seven of us staying. Everything was immaculate, plus the area was beautiful with the scenery and there were places to visit close by. We really enjoyed our stay.
Chinley was a small picturesque village with local shops and friendly people. The holiday home looked small from the outside but was huge once you entered. It is a beautiful property; clean and spacious, the beds were really comfortable and the kitchen facilities excellent. We really enjoyed staying there.
It was fabulous from beginning to end we could not fault anything. Thank you for everything - highly recommended!
