Location Details

Often compared to a Bavarian Mountain resort, the picturesque spa village of Strathpeffer owes its growth to the discovery of water springs during the 1700s, and was declared in 1819 to be the healthiest drinking water in Britain! The original Spa Pavilion has been magnificently restored after a period of disuse and now serves as a venue for a variety of events, including concerts, dances, dramas and exhibitions.

Beautiful setting close to the loch. Accommodation lovely with everything we needed. The owner was so friendly and helpful we would definitely recommend this as a getting away from it all destination.

We all had a fantastic time, the scenery was spectacular and the owners were some of the nicest and most helpful people we have ever met. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who would like a country break with beautiful towns and villages all within a 20 - 30min drive. We have already recommended this cottage to many of our friends and family and look forward to booking again for ourselves very soon.

The owners made us feel very welcome. We loved the cottage. We chose it very last minute and had to take our dog with us, who was more than welcome and made great friends with the owners dog. The scenery was stunning and situated on a quiet road next to the loch - it was difficult to leave!

The owner was flexible with dates at the last minute which made this holiday possible. Owner left us a bottle of bubbles and some amazing homemade biscuits for our arrival because this was our honeymoon! There were even balloons on the door. I thought that was really nice. The kitchen and living room area is very modern and cozy. The owner allowed us to bring both our dogs. The cabin was always warm, the heaters are excellent! The owner and her children came to say hello on our first morning, and had text us the night before to make sure we were ok for directions because we were arriving at about 11pm in the fog and ice! Very kind. It was nice to just let the dogs run around in the morning in the grass outside the cabin. We will return to the cottage.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The area was good for walking, bird watching and facilities available for boating on loch and fishing. The furniture was very comfortable, it was very quiet and relaxing.

This was the first time my family and I had rented a property to use as a base for touring Scotland, therefore, we arrived with some trepidation as to what we would find. This was completely unfounded as the property was FANTASTIC. We had contacted the owner, prior to our arrival who had told us which of the three properties we would be allocated. On arrival, she came and introduced herself and her family and stated that if we needed anything, we should go to her house nearby. Until we left, that was all the contact we had. The property was very clean, well furnished with everything we needed, there was no reason to see her again. A very quiet location overlooking Loch Achilty, it was a great place to relax. With a 9 month old Grandson, it was a great surprise to wake up and see ducks that came to the french windows each morning and evening.to be fed. Something, even at that young age, he recognised. Would i go back? Definitely. Would I recommend this property? Definitely and have already done so.

Fantastic picturesque location with extremely helpful owners. We would certainly consider recommending this to friends and returning there ourselves.

Rated by Mrs Walters reviewed on 1st June 2014

Very kind and attentive owners are always on hand if needed. The fresh eggs were delicious, thank you! The cottage is well finished and very comfortable and cosy, with everything you might require provided. The local scenery is beautiful and peaceful, although you need go no further than Loch Achilty, a few yards from the house, where the light reflects on the water in all its moods. Small birds abound and there's a resident wren in the eaves, while ducks come to feed on the grass outside the door. Our dog loved the varied walks close at hand and so did we!
