This cottage has become our holiday default destination! We have been holidaying in the dales for a number of years and the Summer Palace has been the best cottage to date. Small in size but beautifully appointed with everything needed for a restful holiday. Roger and Hilary are perfect hosts, knowledgeable about the area, most importantly where is good for food and there are many choices. To look out of the bedroom window and see swallows swooping over the vegetable garden in the morning is a sight not to be forgotten.
This is an amazing place, highly recommend.. Views are brilliant, cottage is comfy with all amenities catered for. The hospitality is fantastic and we had an fabulous time in the Summer Palace. The village of Middleham was most welcoming, pubs friendly and full of horse racing professionals ... Food in the local pubs was fantastic. A day out in Hawes and Richmond was great... This place is highly recommended for anyone visiting The Yorkshire Dales
We had a great week at this cosy little cottage. It was clean, comfortable and in a prefect location for us for walking.
The cottage could not be better and parking is a bonus. The owner's made us very welcome. Can't wait to revisit.
Middleham is a lovely little village the position of the cottage could not be better and parking is a bonus. The owners made us very welcome. Can't wait to revisit.
Stayed at this lovely cottage in march 2016. Superb cottage set in lovely grounds. The owners are very helpful & informative ( Thanks for the help with our luggage Roger ) A great base to tour the national park areas and a lovely town to stay in. The castle ( home to a Richard the third as a boy) is a 5 minute walk from the cottage as are local pubs and eateries. Enjoyed lunch at the Richard the third hotel. Leyburn ( slightly larger town) is 2 miles away where theres more restaurants and shops. Aysgarth falls is worth a visit. Unfortunately 'The forbidden corner' was closed as it was out of season. The cottage has full amenities ( wi-fi, tv x2 microwave, electric heaters for colder days) and a fantastic log burner fire ( doesnt take long to get toastie with this crackling away). Loved our visit here and will definately go back as our time in the dales was too short. Thanks again to Roger & Hilary
A superb location. The cottage was very good and the owners were brilliant. We would recommend the cottage to anyone. There were dozens of lovely walks and lovely small villages all within easy distance. If you love horses, Middleham is the place to stay, with 100's of racehorses stabled around the village.
Liked the relaxation and the wonderful views. We could watch the birds whilst sitting in bed.
This is an excellent cottage with a grand view over open countryside. Middleham is an interesting village; the early morning sound of race horse hooves adds to the especial charm of the place. Add to that a great castle and a variety of good eating places and you have the recipe for an enjoyable time in the Yorkshire Dales. The owners of the property are very helpful.
The setting was superb. An oasis in the stress of life. Liked the peace solitude and tranquillity.
A truly excellent property which I have already recommended to some friends. It is a fantastic place to relax, with the gentle pleasures of Middleham just a couple of hundred yards away. Yes - I enjoyed staying in The Summer Palace.
Very quiet cottage, just what we needed. The owners are very nice, and nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly recommend the cottage.
The location was perfect just as described. The cottage was spacious, quiet, cosy and in the perfect spot. The owners were very helpful and welcoming on arrival, but not overpowering, and nothing was too much trouble for them.
