Please be wary when booking Broadway Farm, Offerton,Hathersage. We, two couples, all in their 70's stayed there the 1st week of June 2019.We wanted a cottage with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which is what we thought we had booked. On arrival we were told two bedrooms had been made up for us and we were not to use the 3rd bedroom as it was made up for the next set of visitors. I demurred but was told in an unfriendly manner that the owner (Claire) would rather "take the bedding off the bed than allow us to use it". I very much regret that we did not immediately get in touch with Sykes Cottages but one of our party did not want to rock the boat after reading in the small print that the owner could tell us to leave the property. Needless to say we shall not be bac to Broadway Farm.and perhaps not to The Peak District either such was our disenchantment.

Stunning, secluded location and a warm welcome made this the perfect break with lots to see and do in the local area. The cottage is like a tardis, providing ample space and also separate space for the whole family. A real home from home environment, furnished to a high standard with every attention to detail, especially in the well-equipped kitchen and dining room where six adults were seated comfortably with plenty of elbow room! The long country walks, fresh air and super comfy beds left us feeling fully refreshed. Thank you.

We stayed here over the New Year period and found Broadhay to be ideal. It is much larger than the photos give it credit for, and the standard of decoration and furnishings is very good. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has excellent appliances. The location is quiet and the owners are very friendly; nothing is too much trouble and there was a small welcome package of necessities such as bread and milk. It's a delightful place in a lovely part of the world. It is reasonably priced and has everything you need.

Spent a week in this lovely cottage on the outskirts of Hathersage. It had all the amenities you could wish for for a self catering break. The local pub is a quick 15 min walk away. The owners were right next door should we have needed anything and were very friendly and chatty. A perfect base from which to explore the Peak District from.

Just spent an amazing weekend in Hathersage and based ourselves at Broadhay - Claire and Andy made us very welcome and this is a gorgeous cottage on their farm with stunning views across the valley. The house had generous bedrooms and beds, was warm and cosy and fitted our needs completely. There is plenty of space for everyone and although we had six adults you never felt you were on top of each other. The countryside around is stunning and the silence was golden (especially when you come from London where you are constantly surrounded by noise). Being woken up by the cockerels and sheep was really good. A short walk to the Plough (really good food and atmosphere) and close to Hathersage and what looked like some great walks (if you are so inclined). Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to get away and explore the Peak District and you could not ask for better hosts

The location is out of this world, so peaceful and quiet with fantastic views all around. The sheep in the field were an added bonus which the children just adored. We couldn't fault anything at all with the property, it was fabulous and the owners couldn't have been any more helpful; nothing was too much bother. The beds were so comfortable and we loved all the little touches throughout the house. It was a fantastic holiday and cannot recommend this property enough; they don't get much better than this!!

Wow this holiday let has everything: fantastic views across the rolling countryside, comfortable beds, fabulous hosts, lots of space for everyone and peace and quiet in abundance. This is the place to come and relax and forget about everything. The holiday let is the best I have ever stayed in. I loved waking up in the morning and seeing the sheep in the field. The beds were so very comfortable and the cottage had everything we could possibly want and so much more!! The walk in shower was lovely and kitchen had every type of dish/utensil you could ever wish for. Couldn't fault anything at all about this place and the hosts Claire and Andrew were so lovely and accommodating too. Will be back very soon as fell in love with the place.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Broadhay and could not have been happier with every aspect of our stay. Claire was wonderfully warm and welcoming and we were delighted to find that Broadhay ("Grandma's cottage") was beautifully kitted out with everything we needed. The kitchen is very well equipped. It is a substantial property(much bigger than the photos might suggest) decorated tastefully with some really charming touches. We live in a very old farmhouse ourselves and love quirky features, beams and interesting nooks and crannies. Claire clearly has an admirable attention to detail and the property was spick and span. It is clear that this farmhouse is part of the Bramhall's family heritage and we felt as if we were privileged to be staying in a much loved family home. We were also captivated by the rare breed sheep (zwartbles) I am sure we could have hand fed them, they were so tame and friendly. We would love to return. Thank you so much Claire, for being a part of making my significant decade celebration weekend such a success. We had a splendid time.

An excellent place to stay if you like to be off the beaten track. It was accessible for good walks and drives around the Peaks. The hosts were faultless.

We travelled as an extended family of 6 and found Broadhay an excellent place to stay for half term. Claire and Andrew were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. The photos on here really don't do the room size justice. The reception rooms and bedrooms are all spacious. The kitchen is low-ceilinged for tall people but very clean and has everything needed including washing machine and dishwasher. Beds were probably the most comfortable we have had at a rental property. Despite being a cold week, the heating system warmed the house up quickly when needed and it felt cosy. The hard floors throughout the downstairs made it easy to clean up after ourselves in the wet weather. We managed to do a couple of walks direct from the cottage itself and Castleton and other key towns are all within a 15 minute or so drive. Didn't manage to get time to do archery or shooting unfortunately, but we will be back!

We thought this place was great. Stayed there as a group of forty something girlfriends. The location is perfect on a working farm in a secluded location whilst still walkable (about 20 minutes) to hathersage. Owners emailed beforehand with easy to follow directions and were very welcoming on arrival. The cottage is spacious and actually is much bigger than the photos on the website do it justice. It was warm and cosy and absolutely spotless. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and everything was in working order. Loads of lovely walks on the doorstep and the plough pub at the bottom of the lane does great food if you don't feel like cooking. All in all a good value, well positioned property. The only slight downside (though I am being picky) was that the main bathroom was on ground level so a bit of a pain if you have to get up for a pee in the night and could do with a bit of a makeover. Would recommend this place for a group of friends or a family who enjoy the beautiful Peak District. I would definitely go back

On arrival the dishwasher was not working. An engineer arrived three and a half days after our arrival. He had been called to fix the same problem before and told the owner he would need to order a new part. A previous guest review in their visitor book stated they had problems with the dishwasher too. We were told on arrival to clean the property before we left, yet when we opened the cutlery drawer it was filthy. The bedroom furniture and floors were dusty and dirty, having not been cleaned for some time. The washbasins had not been cleaned around or behind the taps. The plumbing also needs repair as the hot taps all hiss and splatter water as soon as you turn them on. Our daughter fell over several times due to the cover rail between two rooms which needs to be replaced (see photos). The garden is full of nettle bushes which meant the children could not play outside as they were stung. The clothes lines is tangled in briars which meant a third of it was inaccessible and I was stung hanging up washing. Our daughter broke a bowl which we informed them of immediately and paid the £30 for a replacement. On the way home we received a 'phone call from them accusing us of ruining their towels and breaking breakfast bowls and demanding payment for replacements. Several of their breakfast bowls were chipped on our arrival and should not have been there.

The property was warm, spacious and very comfortable. Everything was spotless when we arrived and it is very nicely furnished with everything we needed for an easy and very pleasant stay. We loved being situated on the farm among the sheep and chickens and far away from our usual city lives. The owners were welcoming/helpful and available just the other side of the farmyard.
