Skibbereen is situated at the heart of some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery, with sandy beaches, quiet coves, energising rivers, lakes, hills and forests all around. This market town and the surrounding area are a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. The town offers interesting shops, restaurants, pubs, the fascinating West Cork Arts Centre, Skibbereen Heritage Centre and an 18-hole golf course. Here the inhabitants pride themselves on the quality of their local produce including local seafood, meat and bread and they hold weekly country and farmer markets. A little further afield you can find Kinsale, dubbed the "gourmet capital of Ireland". Overlooking the West Cork coastline, Leap and Rosscarbery are within easy reach, as are Ballydehob, Schull and Bantry. Dolphin and whale watching opportunities, beaches and rugged cliffs are all on offer in this beautifully unspoiled area of West Cork.
County Cork is full of truly breathtaking natural beauty. With unspoilt beaches, historic castles, and modern visitor attractions, there's plenty for all ages to absorb and there is always plenty to see and do in County Cork.
We were very happy with the quality, $$ of the property and the support we received from the owners Liked · The Cottage was "as advertised" and very easy to find. Minutes out of Skibbereen and the local Lidl grocery store. The fridge had the essentials kindly supplied for our arrival. The cottage was clean and the rooms are of good proportions. Living room area has comfortable seating and there was a week's supply of wood for the fireplace - which we took full advantage of. The central heating worked a charm and the fire was for ambiance. Views out over the farm fields added a tranquility to our stay. Being Canadian, we had to ask about turning on the heat and power for the oven and stovetop. The Owner kindly popped over and sorted us out immediately. Very friendly and willing to help in any way possible. Fantastic Hosts! Disliked · Being the first week of October, the weather did not fully cooperate. Some beautiful sunny days, some rain and early day fog. Could not fault the property nor the friendly support from the Owners.
One of the best holidays! The owner was extremely helpful and made us feel very much at home. We will certainly recommend the location as well as the service Sykes has provided to us.
A wonderful place to stay, would definitely go back to Raheen. A lovely cottage and convenient for visiting many beautiful sites in the area.
