From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
This is a lovely cottage in a good location to explore Skipton, Ilkley and the surrounding area. The underfloor heating worked a treat and made it very snug and comfortable. The upstairs heating didn’t come on so we had damp towels all week (towel rail stayed cold)...that’s the only thing stopping a 5 rating. I would definitely recommend.
Swallow Barn has everyone, character, charm. It is beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Has everything you need for a great stay. Including a cool game called who am I? Which the family played one evening. We spent 4 days with our relatives visiting from overseas, A great base for visiting beautiful Yorkshire, Skipton Castle is great, It was lovely to come back to each evening to this comfortable welcoming barn. We all really felt we’d stayed somewhere very special. The owners are very welcoming and told us everything we need to know. Dogs have to be kept on a lead at all times outside because of live stock, that didn’t stop our dog from enjoying himself. Thanks for a lovely break.
We were a large mixed group (aged 4 months to 60 years old) and an 18 month old Yorkshire Terrier called Tobie. We all found Swallow Barn to be an amazing place to stay. The ground floor has the 'wow' factor with the huge sitting area and the view up the stairs to the galleried landing. The whole place was spotless and the facilities are excellent. The sofas are so comfy and there is plenty of seating. The beds are also great and we all had restful sleep (even the baby!)The levels of equipment provided really are first class. There was a problem with the gas when we arrived that wasn't the fault of the owners but they bought us take away pizza as we couldn't cook. A lack of water for a short period the next day resulted in Sue bringing round two bottles of champagne and chocolates. This was very much appreciated and shows how much they value their customers. The farm is in a wonderful position on a hillside and so close to some great places to visit. We went to Skipton, Bolton Abbey, Malham Cove, Fountains Abbey, Clitheroe, Ilkley and wished we had more time in this lovely part of Yorkshire. Would love to stay again and we enjoyed meeting Leonard, the farm dog.
We loved the open plan ground floor at Swallow Barn, which was so spacious. The design of the house was aesthetically pleasing with the central staircase and galleried landing. With a lot of people staying it was so good to have several en suite rooms and such a huge bathroom. We felt that the conversion of the property had been carried out with care and thought; the woodwork and fittings were beautifully constructed. All this is to say nothing of the stunning views across the valley and the hills beyond. We loved this place!
Just returned home from a perfect weekend away at Swallow Barn. We were attending a family wedding in nearby Skipton so decided to book here instead of a hotel. There were 9 adults staying here and we cannot speak highly enough of the place. It was spotless on arrival and Sue the owner popped in to welcome us but then left us to our own devices all weekend, despite only living next door. The cottage itself is amazing, the photos really don't do it justice and the under floor heating just topped it off. The town of Silsden is a good half an hour walk away. It's all downhill so would recommend getting a taxi back home for the return journey. We ventured into Silsden on the Saturday afternoon and spent the day in the Robin Hood pub which was also a friendly and welcoming place. Five stars from us and we are already planning on going back next summer. Just perfect.
We enjoyed the warm comfortable and spacious accommodation, the view and the friendliness of the owners next door.
It was my husband's 50th birthday and we were looking for somewhere to stay with a group of 8 friends (5 couples). There are plenty of houses / cottages for 10+ people, but not all with the correct number of bedrooms that would allow 5 couples to be able to stay together. Swallow Barn has 5 double or twin bedrooms, 3 are en suite, so a perfect set up for our group. The pictures don't do the place justice. The house is huge, open plan downstairs, but still cosy and comfortable. There are plenty of seats for everyone and the kitchen has everything you could need. Plenty of crockery, cutlery and cups and glasses. There is a beautiful cooker and huge fridge to store enough food and drinks for 10 people. Everything in the cottage is finished beautifully, with a lovely stone floor downstairs and the under floor heating makes it very warm. The cottage is located in a farm, and although it is joined to the owners house, there were no intrusions, but the owner was around to show us what we needed to know in the cottage and to answer any questions if we had any. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and if we find the need to travel with a large group again, I would definitely go back.
Swallow Barn was beautiful and the was owner friendly and helpful, in a brilliant location too!
We loved the views from the windows and the general ambience of the place. The owner came and said hello and made us feel very welcome. Overall it was a lovely property.
Celebrating a 50th birthday with friends and family, I can definitely say I couldn't have asked for anything more with regards the facilities, the Barn has been converted to a very high standard, not sure it could be improved upon, underfloor heating, well decorated, amazing open planned layout which allowed everyone to be involved at all times, absolutely spotless and well worth every penny, definitely home from home (actually better), no question I would return for another visit if I get the opportunity
I've felt compelled to write a review of this property because there doesn't seem to be many reviews online about this place. Initially I thought this was slightly concerning but I shouldn't have worried as this property is fantastic! I booked this venue for myself and a group of friends to spend a long weekend in Yorkshire - it was ideal. The accommodation has been furnished beautifully and there was definitely a lot of oohs and ahs from my friend as they arrived. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room had lovely leather sofas and a log burner- perfect for a winter's evening. The property also has four showers which is very handy for ten people all trying to get ready in the morning. The owner was really welcoming and although lives in the property next door we all felt like we had our own space. The space for cars is also worth highlighting as many properties I looked into didn't have much space. This is not a problem here and we comfortably fitted four cars in front of the property with room to spare. So in conclusion, if you want a property which has stunning views, beautifully furnished and a great space for social gatherings I can't recommend this place enough. Looking forward to returning already!
A beautifully presented well equipped cottage that fulfilled all our requirements for the weekend. A great kitchen making it easy to cater for the group, and a fabulous lounge area, providing a great socialising area. A very spacious yet cosy cottage that provided the perfect base for our holiday.
Everything about Swallow Barn is fab-u- lus as we wrote in the visitors book!
We found Swallow Barn to be an excellent venue for a large family group with dogs. We had lots of space to be able to carry out different activities in separate parts of the downstairs area. The wood burner helped to make the evenings very cosy. The cottage is placed on the top of a hill and there were beautiful views all around. It is an excellent location for exploring this area of Yorkshire.
A wonderful converted Barn. Loved the open plan living area, the underfloor heating was great as the weather got chilly in the evening. The house is in a good location for visiting the delights of the Yorkshire Moors, the sunsets are just amazing.
A beautiful barn which was very comfortable and well equipped. It was immaculate throughout. It was perfect for our family get together and catered easily for the 10 of us.
The cottage was excellent, with lots of space. It was warm and clean.
