Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park and makes a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside and Windermere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing is available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For water sports enthusiasts the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola'.
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating water sports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
We couldn't have asked for more. Browside had everything that we needed; the rooms were spacious so our group never felt on top of eachother & the views were amazing. It is in a great location with the shops only a short walk/drive away & not too far from other places to visit. The hot tub was an absolute bonus overlooking fields with sheep! I would highly recommend this to anyone as I am absolutely certain you'll have a pleasurable stay as we certainly didn't want to leave!!
Fab accommodation for 14. All on the level for our mixed age party 25-86! Home from home kitchen. Only issue was intermittent wi-fi. Out-with owners control!
We stayed here in January for a celebrations with family and friends. The whole week was perfect. We had lovely walk along to Coniston and popped in at the The Bluebird Café on the waters edge. Also a short walk to Torver and if you go you must check out the telephone box. We also went on short walks to Tarn Howe and Rydal water and cave. The hot tub was super. Although it was January, on a clear night with the dark skies, the stars were amazing. The accommodation was clean and fitted the needs of 8 – 73 year olds. We never felt overlooked at all. Would certainly go back. Thank you !
Everything was lovely. The hot tub was the best feature, especially after a long hike. The location was excellent and the views were amazing.
Such a beautiful house with excellent views, you could not have wished for more. Our large party took advantage of the hot tub which was well maintained and a highlight of the holiday. There were no complaints from any of us and would definitely recommend to anyone, we look forward to a return visit.
What an absolute gem. The views from the windows were breathtaking and the hot tub was fabulous.
We loved the layout of the property that gave us a perfect balance of sociable family space and the ability to have private quiet time in the well equipped en-suite rooms. The location was great for exploring southern lakes and the views were stunning.
We have just returned from a week at this house. Four generations of the family attended making a party of 11. The house was perfect providing great space for family social time, but also providing privacy and quietness through well equipped en-suite bedrooms for those times when you wanted to have a little time relaxing on your own. The owners live next door and have achieved the perfect balance of being there if you need them but not intruding on your stay. The views from the windows are stunning and you are perfectly placed to explore the southern lakes.
Had a brilliant stay at Browside. There was loads of space for everyone and every room was very comfy. The views were also stunning, especially from the hot tub! Would definitely stay again.
The house was well equipped for a large family group with good bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. The location was excellent, we were able to walk to the lake in about 20 minutes and get access onto the lake. The views are wonderful and there is direct access to the Old Man of Coniston.
This is probably the best equipped and positioned cottage we have ever stayed in. The beds were lovely and comfortable, the cottage was very well equipped and the setting was perfect. There were lots of lovely walks nearby with Coniston a short walk away. I cannot recommend the cottage highly enough.
