Disgusting! We went here to enjoy a nice peaceful weekend spending a majority of our time in the hot tub, when we arrived we were told you could not use it after 10pm there was nothing on the website stating this, the hot tub was only luke warm, there was a camera directly on the hot tub, the owners said they were happy for us to have a Yankee candle on the drinks holder on the hot tub to get extra light after we did this we were confronted and asked to remove them. This made us feel as we were being watched there’s no privacy here at all as your a few yards away from the owners home, it was not a nice stay at all! We paid £300 for a 3 night stay but we found it that much of a bad experience we left after just one night! We were very disappointed after we had high hopes for the cottage after reading a lot of positive reviews. The owners have point blank refused even a 50% refund from our stay so we’ve paid £300 for one night, I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here, as much as the reviews sound good because they leave a £1 box of chocolates and 2 £3 bottles of cheap processco it’s not a nice place at all! There’s nothing around the area for miles either.

After a long 1.5 hour drive we thought we were in for a lovely relaxing treat. I honestly would spend your money else where unless of course you want to sit in a luke warm “hot tub” and feel watched by the owners....

The cow shed is small but perfectly sized for couples who will be spending most of the day out and about enjoying all the local area has to offer. Cannot fault the accommodation at all, everything has been done to a high spec/standard and has all the facilities you may need. Lots of storage space and a very well equipped kitchen. Lots of additional extras were a nice touch - prosecco, milk, eggs, biscuits and sweeties. Hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a hard day out walking and extra towels are provided too. Local area has a lot to offer: walks on the door step, beautiful countryside, local villages to visit and Chatsworth House only a few miles away. The village of Youlgreave is lovely with 3 pubs to choose from and only a short walk away. Top tip: if you don’t want to miss pie night on a Wednesday at the Farmyard Inn, make sure you book! Toni - the owner - was really helpful. Although this property is attached to another larger cottage and is next door to the owners own house, it is very quiet and we were not disturbed at all. The road to approach the barn is quite bumpy but perfectly accessible and exactly what I would expect from the countryside - it’s 100% worth it for the location of the cow shed. We will definitely be back.

We visited the cow shed for our first anniversary and couldn't have been happier with our choice. We arrived to a warm welcome from Tony, very helpful lovely chap! The little extras in the room were such a lovely touch and made our stay all the more special. The bed was so comfy, the hot tub a great perk! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

The road to the Cowshed is TERRIBLE deep pot holes for about half a mile so BEWARE!. I am AMAZED how cars are supposed to go on to this road! Even to dangerous for the cows. Once we arrived at the Cowshed it was ok, hot tub lovely after a hard days walking. The Cowshed had everything you would need on holiday. The owner Tony was really nice and nothing was to much trouble. Sleeping, eating, watching TV in one room was not really what we wanted but maybe we should have read the description more intensely?

Had a great stay here. The owners are very approachable and pleasant. Really lovely location and buildings, with everything 2 people would need for a stay away. A few 'extras' are thrown in for your arrival, which are well received. Exclusive use of a hot tub is fantastic. The walk into the village will keep you fit (!) and The Bulls Head serves great food and great beer. The location offers a number of great walks and there are a lot of things to do /places to visit within a 10 mile radius. We'll be back :-)

I'm a cyclist and runner, my wife likes dragging me around small towns and villages. This made the Cow Sheds location the perfect base for us both. It's small yes, but beautifully finished and so comfortable. Every evening after a morning on the bike and an afternoon around one of the lovely local towns (Haddon Hall is WELL worth a visit btw and that's not usually my cup of tea at all) I jumped in the hot tub with a beautiful view over the hills, with a book and totally forgot that I have to go back to work next week. And I've not slept better for years. Super comfy bed, super quiet, super sleep. Youlgrave is a five minute walk away and naturally we tried all three pubs, couldn't fault any of them, next time I won't be missing 'Pie Night' in the Farmyard either. Walking /running along the riverside is a pleasure and the locals all seem very friendly too. The owner Tony is an absolute top man and couldn't be more helpful, I'll give him back the pint of milk I owe him when I return, which I most definitely will, probably in the Cow Barn with the rest of my brood. If you're outdoorsy and like peace and quiet, comfort and a hill or 50 to bike/walk/run up then this is the place for you. Highly recommended.

My husband and I came here on our mini-moon. Absolutely charming place. Fantastic setting. Beautiful little studio apartment, but well equipped with everything you could need. One of the best features for me is that the owners had thought of all of those 'finishing' touches that make a place feel warm and cosy. From the curtains and blinds, the toiletries in the bathroom and the chocolate just about everywhere we looked! (much appreciated btw haha) Hot tub was great. Just made our stay even more perfect. We're already wanting to book again but for the summer time! The only thing I would say is to take a torch I you're planning on visiting the pubs in the village after dark. The track is pitch black and a bit wobbly in places :-)

We arrived at the cow shed and were met with a clean, well-equipped studio cottage which we noticed the pictures online do not adequately do justice to. We found the decor in the Cow Shed to be modern but with a vintage feel to it, keeping it's traditional look. The inside of the cottage contained many lovely little touches including complimentary sweets/prosecco/biscuits/tea/coffee/milk/dvds and even fresh eggs from the owner's hens. The owner Tony was a great help, both informative and very friendly, anything we needed he was quick to assist with (coal for bbq, ironing board, matches and cooking oil). The hot tub was very clean and romantic with the beautiful surroundings of the Peak District. Lots of walks and sights to see nearby. The bed was a beautiful vintage feature which was extremely comfortable. There was lots of storage space for clothes etc.The only negatives of our stay would be a large amount of wasps nearby (which we understand couldn't be helped but should be looked into incase of nests) and lastly we felt the studio cottage was really hot even though we had turned off any heating, which we later discovered from the owner himself there was underfloor heating set at a temperature of 20 degrees. We felt this was set too high.Overall we had a fantastic, welcoming experience that we will cherish and will certainly be returning and recommending to all relatives and friends!! Thank you for having us and allowing us to celebrate a fantastic 21st & 22nd birthday all in one :)

A quaint and cosy cottage, clean and perfect for a few days. The hot tub was brilliant for long days walking or cycling. The views were beautiful to wake up to and it was not too far to walk to the village for lunch or dinner.

We had a lovely time at the Cow Shed. The idyllic countryside location was perfect for switching off, enjoying some ' us' time and celebrating a birthday. Everything in the Cow Shed exudes quality. It is really is a lovely haven of luxury. The hot tub is amazing, the weather was a little unhot tub friendly but we still enjoyed a few hours in it.

This was a perfect stay. In a beautiful private secluded spot but within a walk of the village. The hot tub was a particular highlight. The apartment was immaculate, everything had been thought of and the owner went out of his way to be helpful. Five stars. I would return.

We had a great break; I could have easily stayed for a whole week, lots to do. The scenery was breath taking. "The Cow Shed" is very small, compact and bijoux, perfect for what my partner and I wanted. Beautifully refurbished, with lovely furniture and accessories and the hot tub was definitely a bonus. The village was welcoming with 3 friendly pubs. Lots of gorgeous walks, and tumbling hills. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
