The owners clearly take pride in presenting a beautiful spotlessly clean cottage with everything needed for the perfect peaceful break away.

Lovely location, cottage was spotless , so very well maintained. Parking was a bit difficult but ok,getting cases etc down from the car to the cottage can be difficult. Local towns and beaches veery close, you can catch the train to Whitby at the station located at the bottom of the garden !!!! This cottage is highly recommended apart from the lack of broadband and mobile phone signal but you can get wi-fi at the pub (5 mins walk )

Plum Tree Cottage is an absolute gem and we have just booked it again for next year. The owners are friendly and helpful and they have furnished the cottage to the very highest of standards. It contains absolutely everything you could possibly need and it is supremely comfortable and clean. There is a multitude of maps & booklets and the area is beautiful. Absolutely first class, the cottage should have higher than 3 stars.

This self-catering cottage was spotlessly clean, with fully equipped kitchen & comfortable bedroom. It was very quiet at night and we slept well. There was a private, sunny garden and terrace area, with table and chairs, which was great for late afternoons/early evenings. The bike storage provided was secure and a washing machine with outside line & pegs made it really convenient for a cycling holiday. We also made the most of the local railway literally at the bottom of the garden for day trips to Whitby and (via steam train) to Pickering. With a pub or two in most of the small villages between Castleton and Whitby, it was easy to find somewhere for lunch while out for the day. The property owners were friendly and helpful and provided everything needed for a week's self-catering holiday in a first-rate cottage. We'd definitely go back..

We had the time of our life and plum cottage gave us a look into the true England. The cottage was a modern take on traditional style with out sacrificing any of the modern convinces. Tucked away in a small village in the North Yorkshire moores one could feel the fast pace of the city slip away and yet with a train located at the bottom of the garden you could plan a day exploring nearby sights with great ease. The owners are close by and a lovely couple if you needed any thing they were most gracious and were very willing to try and accommodate their guest to make their stay flawless. They are working on a second cottage so if a small group was going there would be room for all. We are already saving up for our next trip to England and Plum Cottage is on the top of the list .

A meticulously clean cottage with friendly and helpful hosts. The cottage was ideally located, just a few hundred yards from the railway line for easy access to Whitby and there's a shop in the village for stocking up. Every village has a pub or two - so there were plenty of options for meals/drinks. We enjoyed having a fully equipped kitchen which allowed us to cook in the evenings and also to eat outside in the garden. As we were cycling most days, having secure bike storage and a washing machine was ideal for us, and was one of the reasons we chose Plum Tree Cottage. We'd recommend the cottage for anyone considering an active walking/cycling holiday. We'd certainly return.

Plum Tree cottage is a gem - tastefully decorated and furnished, and spotlessly clean. It is a credit to the owners. The location is perfect for visits to the coast, or the many varied and interesting places and villages on the North Yorkshire moors. A great holiday which we hope to be able to repeat at sometime in the future.

Plum Tree Cottage was a gem, it was one of the best cottages that we have ever stayed in. The owners were most accommodating and friendly. My wife & I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to get away from it all.

From the moment we arrived and opened the front door we could not have been more delighted with our choice of accommodation. Perfectly located for keen walkers and those who wish for short drives out to Rivaux Abbey, Whitby and Scarborough and a short walk from the village of Castleton. The property was spotless and the welcoming touches of cookies and dog treats for our pet showed that the owners have really thought about their guests. The main room looks out onto a wonderful garden and the bird feeders are regularly topped up so the avid twitcher will not go short of opportunities. Should you not wish to cook the Eskdale Arms is 150 yards away and serves good hearty meals or walk into Castleton to The Downe Arms for good beer and good food.

The location of the cottage is great, close to the coast and lots of great walking within a few metres of the front door. The cottage is a great place to come home to following a full day out walking. We felt totally relaxed there and the bonus is there's a pub at the bottom of the garden.
