Reviews

We stayed from 13-20 July and had a fantastic time. House as always (we stayed previously in 2016) in perfect condition and stocked with everything you need and want. Great local store coop in Muir of Ord and Beauly has excellent deli plus other cafes and shops. We used as base to travel regularly to moray coastline and also north east to do hiking. Absol brilliant weather and walking about 10mls per day. Our 17 yr old daughter didn’t fancy that much so stayed at home lounging around sunbathing and in the enclosed hot tub. She also met pals in Inverness as train from Muir of Ord so all easy peasy. All in all a lovely break . The only thing for us is it doesn’t take pets and next year we will be proud owners of 2 dachshunds! So this may be our last stay. Book up you’ll not be disappointed .

We booked Little Chestnut from the Sykes website, i.e. not following recommendation. On and off, over 47 years, we have stayed in very many holiday rentals. Little Chestnut is by far the best we have used. The standards of finish and presentation are superb, the facilities and equipment range is extremely wide including hot tub, sauna, purpose build and very comfortable hut, Sky TV, and every possible piece of equipment you could need. Though attached to the owners property, it is extremely private, quiet and, in our view, idyllic. The location suited us in that we were 3-400 yards from a railway station giving access to the whole of Northern Scotland not to mention the beautiful scenery on our doorstep.

Hosts very welcoming and willing to help with anything, they even helped us take our shopping in. The house itself is very clean and well maintained, it is also extremely spacious for a 3 bed. The hot tub, sauna and BBQ hut are great facilities. Cant recommend this place enough and will definitely be looking to return.

We were a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teenagers: 19 & 15. We all absolutely loved our time in the house; you are very close to Beauly with its award winning Deli (and reasonably priced I may add for take away or sit in); we walked the 6 miles there and back (3/3) daily for coffee / scones and was a great way to start your morning; the kids spent entire time lazing around the exceptionally well equipped house (tv in each room, great wifi which also allowed me to work and download files from the cloud) and the outside facilities were amazing: 4 man (actually it could take more) hot tub, separate shower, bathroom and sauna! Think of a large outside garage all glass fronted - it was brilliant; robes and slippers provided too! Then there was the indoor BBQ - again exceptionally well laid out; we used it at least twice; there's a fabulous butcher in both Muir of Ord & Beauly; lots of eateries too for take aways or large supermarket at Dingwall (15 mins away); equally eat out in Inverness or spend day there in cafes and shops; Urquharts was very good and great value - you can take the train to Inverness too - try it, brilliant fun - it's like the Edinburgh Fringe on rails!! Ken & Theresa were super hosts - look after you and then disappear and let you enjoy; it's entirely private and they are so relaxed, you can only do similarly. Visit, you'll not be disappointed.

Arriving at Little Chestnut after a long 6hr drive was definitely a delight... our hosts Ken & Theresa welcomed us with a full tour and run down on all the features... (and a special very welcome treat) - the place is stunning, finished to the highest of standards and quite a lot Kens own work... Other than the wonderful location and superb property we chose 'Little Chestnut' for the fun factor of the Jacuzzi, Sauna & mid Winter BBQ Hut !! Again these were of the highest and cleanest of standards - we had a great night enjoying a Barbie in perfect warmth on a -3 night followed by a relaxing dip in the hot tub... what really stands out is how your privacy is in no way compromised and even with the folding doors fully retracted nobody can overlook. We've been to lodges where you can hold a conversation with your neighbours !! Ken and Theresa have thought of everything... robes, disposable slippers and more towels than you could ever use, kitchen with every utensil you could need. You can tell these guys have very high standards as even the crockery is Denby - no cheap Supermarket rubbish here !! I'm pretty sure the guys ordered us perfect weather too as we witnessed some sunsets that would rival the Caribbean !! All in all I have to say that we were thrilled with Little Chestnut, wowed by the standards, stunned by the scenery of the Highlands and Merry from the wonderful tastes of the many distillerys around... I would recommend this place and in fact are looking forward to our next stay !! Thank you Ken and Theresa - we'll see you soon...

Five of us stayed here for 4 days and it was totally awesome! The cottage was perfectly situated for days out to almost all parts of the Highland Region The west coast is just over an hour's drive with spectacular views along every mile of the route. Inverness and the Whisky Trail only 30 minutes away. The cottage had everything. Absolutely everything! From a vast range of kitchen appliances and utensils to the bath robes and slippers for use in the hot tub and sauna. The hot tub has to be seen to be believed. Perfect relaxation after a day out and a place to savour a cold drink. In plastic cups of course! Bedrooms were large and the huge kitchen and lounge just ideal for sitting around and planning the next day's itinerary. Overall, the perfect place to use as a base for exploring the Highlands of Scotland

This accommodation is the best that I have ever had. I would recommend it to everyone that asks "where do I go for the best accommodation?" It was also a very good base to explore the highlands from. The hot tub went down a treat with the whole family because it was in its own building. I hope to go there again next year.

An absolutely first class property that exceeded our expectations. The whole family enjoyed their stay at Little Chestnut with more than enough space to accommodate the needs of us all. The hot tub and sauna was a superb addition with the BBQ building being a big hit with every one. We would defiantly recommend and we will be back soon.

It was a superb property, just superb! It is also very well located for travel around the area, such as to the East and West Coasts.

Absolutely amazing week away. The owners thought of everything and went out of their way to make Little Chestnut feel like a home from home. We enjoyed every single minute of our stay.

Rated by Mr Theed reviewed on 21st February 2016

Little Chestnut is an exceptional property and we loved every minute of our stay there. The owners could not have been more helpful on our arrival going through all the information we required for our stay. It was spotless and had everything you could possibly require and was indeed a home from home. We have been to many self catering properties over the years and this has to be one of the very best if not the best one we have been to.

Rated by Mrs Davis reviewed on 9th January 2016

The décor and standard of finish to the property was of an exceptionally high standard, we loved the jacuzzi and indoor barbecue. It is also a great location to travel the highlands but not completely in the middle of nowhere, we would recommend to all of our friends and are currently planning a return visit! The owners are welcoming and lovely people, it's a great place to stay and worth the visit!

The hot tub, sauna and bbq hut facilities made this property a cut above anywhere we've previously stayed. Under floor heating was also a nice touch, with each room having its own temperature control. The owners were particularly friendly and helpful too. Would recommend Little Chestnut to anyone! We had a wonderful stay.

Genuinely outstanding property, with a very high standard of finishing to complement the excellent layout. Great location to use as a base for exploring as far & wide as you can drive. Best self catering property we've experienced.

Rated by Mr Stout reviewed on 18th October 2015
