Whitby in North Yorkshire remains one of the regions most popular tourist hotspots, and with good reason. The town is at the mouth of the River Esk, and this old fishing port retains mush character in its winding streets and hidden alleys. There is a picturesque harbour, sandy beach and the famous Whitby Abbey. Close to other seaside destinations such as Scarborough, Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby is also ideally placed for heading inland and exploring the beautiful countryside of the North York Moors National Park.

Three generations stayed in this property over Christmas. On arrival we noticed all the decorations - 2 trees- with lights. There was plenty of room to store food and a there was a welcome tray of mince pies and a treat for the dog. The bedrooms were adequate and the whole property was clean and warm. We used cars to travel into Whitby because of the ages in the party and parking charges are removed during winter.

Stayed in the farmhouse with family of three other couples and two infants plus two dogs . The house was excellent in every way , downstairs kitchen and lounge very large so ideal for all ten of us , and all bedrooms a good size . The property was very clean and well stocked with crockery etc . Had really good weather during our stay so made use of the garden to chill in an evening , safe for grandchildren . The walk into Whitby took ten to fifteen minutes dependent on how fast you walk . Was an ideal base for our day trips out to other pretty villages . Would return again with no hesitation .

We are a large family who travel the country following our football team. This weekend it was Middlesbrough, but we decided it would be nice to stay in Whitby. The property is within walking distance of the town centre, but a cab is less than £5. Our stay was only two nights, but everyone found the house to be perfect (I won't go into detail, as others already have). It was freezing outside, but the whole house was lovely & warm, the wood burners made for a warm wintery feel. Whether you sit in the large lounge or kitchen diner, the place accommodates everyone. A special mention on how clean the house was too.

The property was excellent; large and roomy for our party and very clean. It was lovely to come home to after a long day.

We had a fabulous holiday and didn't want to come home. We would definitely stay here again and I have already recommended it to several friends and family members. It is in a great location and the house I think is perfect for family trips. Loved it!

Airy Hill Old Farmhouse is a lovely house, well equipped with everything you need Though the location seems odd being next to a college it was not a problem at all Nice walk into the harbour. Had a good stay would definitely recommend

We had a fantastic long weekend in Whitby, a shame it had to come to an end, the accommodation was fantastic and in a excellent location, very spacious and modern and only a short walk to the town centre. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit Whitby. We look forward to staying at Airy Hill Old Farmhouse Again when we come back.

A great space for our large family plus dog! I especially liked the 2 en suites and large bathroom. The kitchen was a great focal point for holiday breakfasts and the lounge was very comfortable on an evening. The heating was very good for a large house also, we were never cold. Would definitely come back.

A lovely property which was very spacious, comfortable and clean. It was only a short walk to the harbour and there were good places to walk the dog.

The cottage had an amazing kitchen which was perfect for socialising & the view from the front windows was amazing. The bathrooms, particularly the en-suites were also fab and the bedrooms were all good sizes.

We had family from all over the world fly in to stay at this place in Whitby for Christmas week. The most perfect family holiday rental ever. Extremely spacious, excellent 4 rooms with 2 ensuites, a great location being only a short walk from the shops and restaurants, and a beautiful kitchen/dining which was perfect for our Christmas Dinner. Our little Scotty dog enjoyed it too. Highly recommended.

Loved the place and can't wait to return. Hopefully the same week next year.

Liked that the garden was safe for the dog and children. There was plenty of places to walk with the dog nearby. The cottage felt very homely even though it was a rental property. It was lovely and warm when we got there.

Recently stayed at the farmhouse with three other couples celebrating a birthday in Whitby ..the farmhouse is set in a small complex of other similar accommodation the front bedroom has views of the Abbey which on a clear day can be seen spectacularly perched in the distance ..the back of the property overlooks fields ...it has two log burning stoves each with a starter pack you walk through the front door and immediately say WOW this property is large and very comfortable with huge comfy reclining sofas ... and a huge settle although the batteries didn't work in the TV ...the kitchen is fabulous with a,huge farmhouse table which we sat round to have breakfast and for a card game evening...everything is provided in the kitchen even tea towels.... downstairs loo very handy !!! Access for a wheelchair user is great to get to the property and into the kitchen but then there are stirs so maybe a little difficult ... the stairs are a little steep but lead up to 4 bedrooms 3 doubles, and a twin... two of the doubles are sumptuously decorated with amazing luxurious ensuites all towels, loo rolls provided ... but disappointed with the other two bedrooms which were very bland not as much luxury and shared the bathroom the twin bedroom was, also cold !! Suggestions would be to make them look & feel as if they have not been forgotten ..the Bathroom is fabulous with a large bath and shower and also separate hair washing shower very, very handy .... the property was freezing cold and we spent all evening with no heating on even the log burning stoves didn't heat the whole property so we spent all night fully clothed in bed ..it said in the catalogues at the farmhouse we could only contact people in office hours ... we rang.Sykes cottages and a receptionist said there was nothing they could do until the office opened later .. we were furious !!! We eventually waited until 8 am and contacted the owners who were amazing came over straight away sent her son over who put us the heating on and gave us extra quilts, and more logs and fire lighters , how it should have been handled .... Sykes the company just didn't care ... although the Farmhouse is wonderful be aware your next to a school and on the Sunday morning traffic was parking and lots of noise from families on a running track at the back of the house !!! It's off a busy main road and the walk down and up to and from Whitby is not recommend for people with mobility problems parks Tec as the hill is very very steep , but taxi are, around and it cost us £5 for a taxi from the railway station to the farmhouse ...
