Location Details

Ludlow is a market town on the River Teme in Shropshire, and is well known for its variety of attractive listed buildings, medieval streets and imposing castle. Ludlow also boasts a variety of good quality restaurants, along with pubs and shops serving fresh produce. There are art and craft shops, and the Linney Riverside Park has the opportunity to hire boats, has a play area and also a putting green. Ludlow is close to Shropshire attractions including Ironbridge, Church Stretton, the Severn Valley Railway and Cardingmill Valley.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Reviews

Arrived in Ludlow during storm Dennis and was very grateful for the warmth and homeliness of Inglenook. Thank you Jim and Katherine for your welcome gifts. Everything we needed was available in the bungalow and the supermarkets were a short walk away. Even with two teenage boys in tow and a lot of rain, we had a successful and high-spirited holiday. The brewery (near the train station) was a treat at the conclusion of a 10km walk up to and around Mortimer Forest (up the hill on the other side of the River Teme) and the castle was my 16 year old son’s favourite afternoon out with plenty of towers and history to see and explore. We ate out twice (Wildwood restaurant on broad st is 50% off food on Monday and Tuesday if you download the voucher and The Rose & Crown was a friendly, traditional pub with yummy food) and also found it easy to cook and eat together at Inglenook. The kitchen was well equipped and the cooker/oven easy to use. We were also grateful for chopped wood and kindling ready for us to use in the cosy wood burner (It warmed all the rooms). There were plenty of games to play in front of the fire and a good range of dvds. Plenty of walks can be done in the Shropshire hills -we managed to get up to the top of Caer Caradoc from a very pretty Cardington village. The views from the top were beautiful even in the poor weather. We can’t wait to come back again soon and explore some more!

Quite difficult to find the place and the accommodation was clean and tidy but not really suitable for more than a couple of adults, mainly as there was only one shower and toilet which made it interesting juggling in the mornings. Limited power sockets in one of the double bedrooms and no wardrobe at all in the other! As with all holiday accommodation it's the attention to detail that gets missed, like not enough cooking utensils, pegs, coat hangers etc, silly things that get missed but are annoying when there aren't enough....could do with a dishwasher too if you hadn't it filled to capacity..good base though for going out and about

My husband and I recently stayed for 2 weeks at Inglenook and we are so delighted. It was like being in our own home. The kitchen was more than adequate for cooking and baking ( made our own scones) and fully equipped with all the washing up and cleaning supplies one would need on a day to day basis - even provided aluminum foil and plastic wrap. I've never seen this in all my years of renting self catering. The house is very tidy, the beds very comfortable. Having a private walled garden was the icing on the cake. Ideal location for walking into town or to Tesco. We highly recommend Inglenook.

Rena and I stayed at Inglenook for a long period of time between December 2016 and March 2017 whilst we where in between work contracts. Both James and Catherine looked after us so well and are incredibly friendly. Inglenook really does has everything you'd need for a great get away. As a family we had many wonderfully evenings cooking in the kitchen and then sitting by the log burner stove...a lot of fond memories were made with our 2 children who just loved the place so very much. We even managed to have a fantastic BBQ in the sun trap garden on our last weekend. Inglenook is so private down it's tree lined drive, but then so very close to town. We will deeply miss it all...thank you James and Catherine for making us feel so at home.

A very comfortable property in an excellent location to visit Ludlow and the surrounding area.

Great location ie: the centre of Ludlow was within walking distance even for our elderly parents (88 and 82) and ideal for exploring Shropshire. Situated down a lane, away from traffic and therefore nice and quiet.

Great cottage in a lovely location - close enough to walk into Ludlow but away from the noise and lights of the town.

Rated by Miss Ridgway reviewed on 5th March 2016

The cottage was cosy, clean and well presented.

I can only really echo what others have said in that Inglenook is a superb property, it is clean, cozy with a wood burning stove, has good Wi-Fi and is in a peaceful location but only a short distance from the centre of Ludlow. The owner had left a card and bottle of wine for us when we arrived which was a very nice touch and if I had to make any criticism it would be that it might be a little bit short on space if it was occupied by five people!! The only thing that I can add that others have not mentioned is that Ludlow has an excellent leisure Centre with a pool and small but very good gym and this is about one mile away from the property.

Our family had a lovely stay at Inglenook. The layout makes good use of the space and the location is wonderfully peaceful and safe. We all enjoyed the pretty garden, especially our two year old daughter. We left something behind when we left and the owners were very kind to send it on to us in the post. They also left chocolates, wine, milk and a welcome card for our arrival - they had thought of everything! A cosy, clean and peaceful bungalow - would definitely recommend.

As soon as we arrived at Inglenook we all relaxed, It is so quiet except for beautiful birdsong. Hard to believe it is such a close easy walk to Ludlow centre with the bustling market, lovely restaurants, cafes and shops. The house was immaculately clean and extremely well equipped. I felt everything had been thought of to make our stay as comfortable as possible, including great mattresses. There was plenty of space for our family of four. The sheltered garden is a lovely sun trap with a flat grass area big enough to kick a ball around and a patio with a large table where we enjoyed a fire one evening. In the town we had a lovely time down by the river and at the children's play area and a fantastic time at the castle. I only wish our stay had been longer. I would love to come again and will definitely be recommending to friends,

Inglenook is a very comfortable cottage, very quiet. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The wood burner was a nice touch. The position is good too - quiet but within walking distance of Ludlow, a lovely little town.

Inglenook was a lovely bungalow situated in a quiet area yet only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Ludlow, where there are plenty of fine restaurants and pubs that serve excellent meals. Ideal location for visiting National Trust properties in the area.

Found Ludlow to be a very attractive town with a wide choice of wining and dinning, all easily accessible, on foot, from the property.

Rated by Mr Nuttall reviewed on 5th April 2014

A very well equipped bungalow. Perhaps not a great deal of communal space for 5 adults and certainly not once our other daughter came to join us making 6 adults! We received very good service. Ludlow itself is fab and definitely worth visiting. The bungalow was in a good location only the drive up to it is pitch black at night. So you definitely need the torch provided.a very well presented property in beautiful area of the country. The thing I liked least was the double bed as it gave my husband a bad back!

This house was within 5 minutes walk of the town centre and was in very good order and a sensible use of space. A wood burner was most welcome in some cold weather in January.

Pleasant bungalow, a short walk from Ludlow which had a very good mix of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Rated by Mr Still reviewed on 4th March 2012

This is a lovely bungalow with parking 10 mins walk from the town centre. The accommodation was very good and the fact that there was parking made the weekend. The wood burner in the lounge was a romantic touch ( and there was plenty of logs to burn too). We were extremely comfortable and cosy.

We enjoyed our short stay immensely. The town of Ludlow is beautiful and there were plenty of other places to visit within a reasonable distance. These included Stokesey Castle, the RAF museum, Wroxeter, Ironbridge and the Severn Valley Railway.
