Reviews

I stayed here with my family as a pre-Christmas break and we had a great time. The instructions for arriving were really easy to follow. A bottle of wine welcomed us in the fridge and there was a Christmas tree which was a very nice unexpected touch. There was also complimentary tea, coffee washing up liquid, toilet rolls and supplies to make up the real fire, which we used every day even though the cottage was snug already. Bedding, towels, tea towels were also supplied taking that hassle out of the equation. The cottage was very clean and tidy and warm. There is no Wifi so we were prepared with films downloaded to view. 4G was available on the 3 network which was surprising as the cottage is in the countryside. There is a wide selection of board games in the sideboard, a few of which we played. The master and second bedrooms are very spacious. The third bedroom has around a foot between the beds but contains a wardrobe at the end of the beds. The driveway is narrow and the 7 point turn required to reverse up the side of the cottage is 'interesting' but I managed it in a Vauxhall Vectra which is not a small car. On arriving I did nearly reverse too far into a flower bed made out of an old stone trough, but thankfully stopped 2 inches short. There is a local coal supplier in Settle for you to replenish the coal, (1 purple bag house coal would last 4+ fires of 5 hours), and kindling (they sell this in large sacks so do not buy more than 1). We didn't walk to Settle as it was December, but it would probably take about 30 minutes and would be a pleasant walk. It would be nice to visit in the summer as there is a secluded raised patio behind the cottage with fantastic views. We frequented the Talbot Inn for Sunday lunch which was very tasty. We also tried the Royal Spice Indian and China China takeaways. The menu's can be found in the sideboard in the cottage. There is also a pizza place but we didn't try it. Booths is the local superstore but there is also an Aldi and McDonalds at the southern exit of Skipton about 30 minutes away. Skipton is a nice shopping center and there is also a quaint cinema there. You can drop off teenage kids for the day whilst visiting Bolton Abbey which is just up the road. Malham cove is also only 7 miles away which has to be visited, (best not on a weekend as parking is madness), and Ingleton Falls are around 10 miles away in the other direction, but they were closed for repairs so we visited Ingleborough instead to see the limestone pavements. We only had to contact Sue once during our stay and that was because the single use vacuum bag was full, (my kids had never seen a vacuum bag before which made me feel old), and Sue was very apologetic, replacing it as soon as she could the same day. All in all we had a great time at the cottage and would definitely consider staying there again and recommend it to friends and family.

Stayed for a week of RnR with friends over new year. The cottage is lovely and in a beautiful spot. Advertised as sleeping 6 l would recommend that 2 of the party be youngsters as the small bedroom had very little space for adults and the beds only 2' 6" wide. The kitchen is well appointed but small for preparation of meals by more than one cook! The open fire was lovely and after walks in the area it was great to come back to. The pub/restaurant at the bottom of the lane is also excellent with a great atmosphere and range of food and booze.

Had a long weekend here as a party of 6. Cottage is lovely and the welcome pack is an added bonus. Drive could be a bit tricky but there is additional parking a short walk away. Cottage was warm, clean and comfortable in a great location for exploring. Lots of local leaflets in the cottage to help with ideas. Lovely and quiet even with the main road only being a field away.

The cottage was beautifully furnished and suitably equipped, it made the weekend. A perfect base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and catch up with old friends. I could not recommend the place enough!

The Coach House was absolutely lovely - with very traditional decor and clean, very well appointed and comfortable. Beautiful views over the countryside, but quite close to the main road for easy access.

The Coach House is a lovely cottage, ideal for our short stay to visit with family, but would have been just as good for a longer holiday in the area.

The cleanliness of the cottage could not be faulted, so well equipped. The little welcome touches were really thoughtful.

We were looking for a quiet and secluded cottage for a weekend away and that's exactly what we found. The cottage was perfect for our needs with everything we needed. Ok, the kitchen's a bit on the small side and would be interesting if there were 6 of you staying, but it's clean, modern and there's more than enough equipment provided. Access to the car parking area is a little "interesting" the first time you drive in, but after you've done it once and seen the whole picture, it's fine - just trust the instructions from the landlady!! We'll be back.

Description of property by Sykes seems somewhat liberal with the truth. Access to property is by a narrow lane, very tight to negotiate, parking not too good at the cottage, in particular for larger cars. Double glazing seals have broken down in the lounge, dining room and double bedroom windows, also the back door, obscuring views from cottage. Extremely small kitchen, not my idea of a farmhouse style kitchen that is claimed.

Great location for our holiday, the cottage was great to return to following a day out exploring the area. The owner of the cottage was very friendly and helpful.

Rated by Mrs Sturgeon reviewed on 23rd August 2013

The cottage had everything we needed, plenty of towels, all kitchen equipment supplied and the utility/drying room was excellent. The location was ideal for walking and a peaceful holiday but was not close to amenities in Settle which you needed the car for such as groceries. Best - was privacy, no one to bother you but we did not see the owners at all to thank them for the use of the cottage or even to introduce ourselves, but the beds were marvellous, very comfy. Least - was the sofa and chairs which were very low and difficult to get out of and no support. Parking by the cottage not the best access quite difficult.

The Coach house was quite simply a sensational place to base ourselves whilst we were in North Yorkshire, I would highly recommend the property to anyone looking for a holiday let.

An ideal base for walking, plenty of footpaths and for travelling by car to the rest of the Dales.

Very good service from start to finish.

A lovely quiet area as a base for exploring the area. Ingleton Falls had amazing scenery, Skipton Market is good and Kendall is a lovely town. Sheep at the kitchen window. Bliss!

It was a lovely cottage.
