Tavistock is a delightful, award-winning market town on the River Tavy, on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. The town offers an indoor pannier market, a number of shops, and a choice of pubs, bistros and restaurants. Wonderful walking and cycling can be enjoyed in the area, plus there are National Trust properties nearby. Within driving distance is the city of Plymouth, Torbay, and the North Cornwall coast.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Reviews

Enclosed garden which isn't big gaps in fence which just needed some more rails. Dog in next cottage crapped on our lawn each morning. Plus not allowed to let dogs out unattended BUT only way to get air into barn is via opening doors or tiny kitchen window. I suppose we had to sit there holding dogs! Ceiling fan on day and night to move air around. Creak creak then creak creak. Place is too big. It echoes you can't hear tv as it bounces noise around. It's also up on a four foot high bookcase some distance from sofas. Not comfortable nor cosy. Very good that owners leave phone numbers BUT there's no signal so that's useful . Plus they never seem to answer door consequently we had no heating as they worked the controls. We're asthmatic and avoid log burners. Overall this place was style over substance. We left after a few days it just wasn't a happy place. Hated the poor hens locked in a stable all the time. We were glad to get home to our free range poultry. Please someone tell the owners that Kune Kune pigs are not a rare breed.

A beautiful location and a beautifully appointed cottage, presented very well with nice personal touches. The owners were very helpful and welcoming.

The cottage is very isolated, away from villages and towns which is a perfect getaway. It was well-equipped and very light and airy. It gets all the afternoon and evening sun, with a full view of the sunset over the moors. The owners were really welcoming and friendly. There is a fab paddock to run the dog around before heading out for the day or in case you want to stay close by and just need some space for them. All in all: perfect, we wouldn't change a thing!

I will definitely be going to this cottage again. The position of the farm meant that although you were close to Tavistock, you were in a beautifully peaceful and rural setting. The accommodation would take some beating and was finished to a very high standard. Well done to all.

A fantastic property in a great location with an amazing view. It was beautifully presented on arrival, with lovely touches. The family was great, the boys loved the animals and there was access to the moors from the property.

Fantastic place to stay! Lovely inside and out and very well kitted out with quality fittings, stunning views and friendly accommodating owners. Great access to the moor just a short walk down the lane and the dog loved it too! We will definitely be back!

We very much liked our stay and found the location very good for visiting the North Cornwall and South Devon coasts which was our plan. The lodge is on the edge of Dartmoor and had we not been staying with non walking friends my wife and I would have really enjoyed walking on the moor straight from the door. We thought the lodge was excellent and are very likely to stay again. Both bathrooms are excellent.

The owners are a fantastic couple, always happy to help, but they also keep their distance and don't impose. Fantastic location, facilities and wonderful views.

White Tor Lodge is in a excellent rural location, with fantastic views. The owners were greats hosts throughout the holiday and every effort to make our stay a successful and memorable one was fulfilled. The peace and quiet was particularly appealing and it was just what we were after. We would have no hesitation to booking White Tor Lodge in the future and would recommend it to family and friends.
