The market town of Barnard Castle is situated in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep with The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, and the River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are all within easy reach.
From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
Despite many brilliant stays in cottages / self catering properties this is the first time I have felt the need to post. The flat is situated in an ideal location for lovers of life in a country town - very close to the historic Butter Market. The owners have provided a holiday home from home which provides all the modern conveniences without losing the Georgian character of the building. The place is spacious with a luxurious feel. The kitchen has a dishwasher and is particularly well equipped. Before the holiday options were given so that the welcome pack provided was tailored to suit individual likes. The flat wonderfully decorated for Christmas as was Barnard Castle. The town is a gem and if you like the outdoors, art or history there is alot to do locally. We will definately return.
Lovely flat in old charming building. Cosy livingroom, lovely kitchen, very nice bathrooms and 2 bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Everything was perfect, and we will definately stay here again!
Can't fault a thing about this lovely two bedroomed flat. One twin room with en suite and one double with separate shower room. Gorgeous well laid out rooms, smart kitchen and huge lounge room with full dining table. Lots of great touches like DVDs and games supplied. Superb location with the car park just behind and the high street on the doorstep so everything within very easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend it and stay here again.
What a beautiful flat its the extra touches that make it special and so clean l thought we were the first in.

The accommodation was very good and very well equipped, and in a central location for the town and it's attractions.
The flat is very comfortable and central for the town. Although it is an old building the décor is modern and in excellent condition. The parking arrangements were good and on arrival and departure we were able to park on the cobbled area at the front which made it easy to unload and load the vehicle. During other times we were always able to get a place on the park at the rear. The town itself is well blessed with eating places to differing standards and we were not disappointed in any. We thought Valentines was excellent. In all a good holiday.
We were pleased with the cleanliness of the flat.It was close to the shops.The owner was very helpful with any things that we needed and the added bonus of letting us know about things of interest in the surrounding area.
The location was excellent, the area was great and everything was handy. The Flat was first class, everything was positive.
My husband and myself booked this flat for a week in March and I have to say it's an absolutely stunning property. Brilliant position in the centre of town but nice and quiet as well. The welcome pack was much appreciated and I don't think there could have been any way to improve our stay, the owner has thought of everything to make a perfect break and we hope to visit again sometime.

The Flat was well deserving of its five star rating. It was clean, modern, contemporary and the owner had thought of everything. I would have no hesitation in visiting the area again and staying in the same property.
It was beautifully refurbished to a very high standard - a perfect little spot to escape and explore the area.

From the generous welcome hamper to the free wifi and well-equipped kitchen, this is the perfect place for a relaxing break. Beautifully refurbished and absolutely spotless, I really can't fault it. It's a carefully considered mix of original features and modern living that really works. Being above a shop on the main street in the town, you're right next to all the amenities, including shops and eateries (and, of course, the castle). Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended. We're sure to be back.

The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
