Reviews

This cottage is perfect. There are 4 huge double bedrooms so plenty of space for at least 8 people. The hot tub is fab. The hosts were really lovely, greeting us with a bottle of Prosecco was a lovely touch. They were there to ensure everything was ok but never encroached on our privacy. There is a little play area for the kids too. The cottage itself is lovely inside. We also loved our daily visit from Honey & Nutty xxx

The owner was very welcoming and helpful on arrival and the cottage was well equipped, clean and spacious, exactly as shown in the pictures and description, everything perfect, we couldn't fault it. Good location to visit Durham, Beamish and surrounding areas. The hot tub and nearby river with pebble beach was a hit with all the family, especially my grandchildren. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would stay here again! Thank you

We booked this as a group of 5 women who enjoy some down time in January and always look for a good hot tub. The hot tub did not work Wednesday or Thursday and we had issues with electricity (including a sparking light switch). The offer of compensation was a 50 discount on a future visit! I understand that things happen but felt insulted that it was felt OK that we had to spend more to get any recompense for not getting the relaxing time we booked A real shame as i convinced our party to go having been there before

Had a great family weekend in a fantastic property. The care and attention to detail in the conversion has made the property perfect for a short stay. The owner couldn’t do enough to help us settle in despite a small issue with the hot tub (which was sorted by the Saturday morning) and the facilities were first class. Would definitely stay here again.

A group of tired mummy's visited the cottage for a 2 night stay on the 25th January for some much needed relaxation. The Cottage was absolutely beautiful and finished to a very high standard with all the rooms being spacious and tastefully decorated. The owner was very welcoming, greeting us on arrival to show us the facilities and also recommended some local takeaways given that we'd arrived fairly late on Friday evening. Although the owners live on the same estate as the cottage and were on hand should we have needed anything, they were not intrusive and we were left to quiet enjoyment! We were visited by the owners dogs who were absolutely lovely and keen for tummy rubs and lot of fussing. :-) The (electric) hot tub was fabulous and the wood burning stove in the living area was perfect after getting out of the hot tub on a very cold and wet January evening in Durham! Durham town centre was only a 15 minute drive away but if you wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle then the cottage was well situated close to river and a number of walks. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you!

Beautiful cottage set in a perfect location! Durham is about a fifteen minute drive away! The cottage is set in a beautiful, peaceful location! The owner was very welcoming, giving lots of information about the area. All the rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated! Will definitely go again and would strongly recommend!

This year we decided to try a self catering cottage and can honestly say that it was the most fantastic place to stay. The owners were kind and helpful, the cottage was well-equipped and beautifully presented and the hot tub was fabulous. Set in beautiful surroundings yet a short drive to the city of Durham. Would definitely recommend this gem.

Orchard Cottage is in a great position, set in countryside with walks from the door, but still only 10 minutes drive into the centre of Durham. It has a fantastic hot tub which the kids used every day, come rain or shine! A brilliant and comfy base for a holiday!

The Cottage was the ideal size and location. Bedrooms were a good size and the open plan kitchen diner lent itself perfectly to entertaining friends and family. Everyone loved it and it and I was actually quite sad when it was time to come home. Would I stay again - absolutely.

We found this property is totally suitable for the disabled. The downstairs wet room, was suitable for 2 carers to assist in showering. No problems in using a folding hoist, so much area to move about in. Excellent.

The location was very good and the property was outstanding!

The cottage was fantastic with large rooms, a lovely log burner and beautiful views. The property is nice and silent at night and the showers were lovely and hot. The owners were the most attentive and friendly people, we will be back.

Had an excellent time, it was a lovely cosy cottage which was warm throughout. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The hot tub was good even in freezing temperatures, the surroundings were nice and the log fire in the lounge was a very nice feature and essential during the winter. Would definitely stay again!

Loved the space and layout in the house for 7 of us and the old stonework provided great soundproofing! It was warm and cosy in the evening with the wood burner on and the wood-fired hot-tub was very popular. Had a friendly owner and neighbours. Highly recommended.
