Tideswell 3 miles. A lovely, spacious detached cottage with excellent views and extensive gardens in the rural village of Wardlow, close to Tideswell. This delightful cottage is perfectly placed for families or groups to enjoy the very best that the Peak District National Park has to offer. This attractive cottage has been sympathetically modernised with a tasteful combination of contemporary furniture and soft furnishings. Many of the original period features, such as beamed ceilings and quarry tile floors, have been preserved. The three bedrooms, two of which have en-suite showers, are spacious with lovely views, and can be offered as super king-size doubles or twin beds, making the cottage very adaptable to the particular needs of your family or group. Also the family bathroom is a great place for a luxurious soak or tired muscle therapy. The farmhouse-style kitchen with dining area is an ideal place to gather for a hearty meal, while your group debates which of the myriad of things to do next. There is an attractive sitting room with woodburning stove, as well as a snug with open fireplace, if you wish to be far from the madding crowd. The utility room and the two halls means there’s plenty of space to hang up coats and park muddy boots, and there’s even a bed and supply of toys for Fido! Outside, the extensive gardens, with open views of the surrounding countryside, afford maximum sun worship. If you are either a mountain or road cyclist, you will already know that this part of the world is a two-wheel heaven, so it’s good to know there is also a garage where your trusty steed can be stabled securely. A large choice of pubs, eateries and shops are available in the neighbouring pretty villages of Ashford-in-the-Water, Great Longstone and Tideswell. With fantastic walks, rides, and tourist attractions all within easy reach, this is a cottage which can offer a superb holiday at any time of year.

Lovely cosy, clean and welcoming cottage that truly is dog friendly with amazing walks right on the doorstep. The local cafes and pubs were really friendly and had lovely food. We are looking forward to returning next year! Thank you for a lovely long weekend, our greyhounds loved it too!

We stayed at Galena cottage with four other members of my partners family. It’s a lovely, well presented cottage. Very clean and comfortable with everything you could need away from home. Comfy beds, very dog friendly and a nice box of goodies for dogs to enjoy. It’s within easy access of lots of beautiful places, we particularly enjoyed walking from Foolow to Eyam and back. There is a very quirky (!) pub within walking distance. The Red Lion at Litton is a couple of miles away and is excellent.

A spacious, clean, comfortable and well-equipped cottage in the small hamlet of Wardlow, meaning easy access in all directions to key tourist attractions / walks in the Peak District. We stayed in Galena Cottage, as a family of 7, comprising of 4 adults, 2 children, and Lily the dog. The owners have put a lot of thought into this cottage. We were greeted with bread, milk, biscuits, & wine, and Lily the dog had beds, drinking bowls and some treats too! The beds were super comfy for a good nights sleep. The kitchen was well equipped. My children were impressed with the Wi-Fi, and smart TV enabling them to access our own Netflix and Amazon accounts for movies. Most rooms also had Bluetooth sound systems so they could play their tunes. They were also able to access DVD's and plenty of games for family entertainment. There are many walks from the house, and the owner has provided OS maps which shows footpaths from Wardlow to Cressbrook Dale. We started on this walk, but with snow underfoot, it was a bit too slippery to do this time, but having read up on it, seems to be a very beautiful walk to do in better weather. A short drive away, is Monsal Head and from here we walked to Ashford in the Water (one way) along the River Wye. The Ashford Arms for Sunday lunch was nice. Other walks were from the Monsal Trail at Millers Dale, completing a walk at Chee Dale; the kids loved the stepping stones in the river. Another walk from LadyBower Reservoir to Winn Hill. All within short driving distance from the house. We have stayed in various Peak District cottages for a number of years now, and I would definitely return to this cottage.

The cottage was beautifully rural, private and yet with nearby excellent amenities. The kitchen was particularly well equipped and all rooms cosily and very adequately furnished. It's situated perfectly for popular Peak District walks from Monsal Trail to Mam Tor. Highly impressed. Would definitely visit again.

The cottage was perfect for the five of us, with the two en-suites and family bathroom. Really loved the location as the next villages were only a 10 minute drive if that. Plenty of dog walking nearby and most importantly good pubs, serving good food!

Galena Cottage is a fantastic property and has clearly been carefully created with the holiday makers/customers in mind; making sure that everything we could want was thought of. The cottage itself had beautiful décor, picturesque scenery and comfortable and clean furniture. We loved the little things; the vast supply of games, DvDs, books, tourist info, maps, local knowledge... Perfect!
