A superb, detached stone cottage with a hot tub, in a rural location next to the owners home less than two miles from the popular market town of Bishop's Castle in the heart of Shropshire. This delightful cottage offers stunning unspoilt views across the valley and access onto the Shropshire Way, and it provides excellent accommodation for families and friends to enjoy the area. Guests can enter into the property to find a useful, heated drying room, ideal for drying off wet coats and boots after a bracing walk in the beautiful surrounding area. With split-level, upside down living, the cottage feels bright and airy inside, entering into a double height entrance hall with staircase up to the mezzanine kitchen and dining area with high ceiling. A further short flight of stairs leads into the L-shaped sitting room with balustrade overlooking the kitchen, giving a feeling of openness to the living space. On the ground floor are a bedroom with a king-size zip/link bed (available as two twin beds on request) and a family bathroom with bath and electronic-controlled rainfall shower. Four steps lead down from here to a welcoming double room with an en-suite shower room. Outside there is a raised decking area which is the perfect location to sit and relax in the peace and tranquillity of the countryside whilst absorbing the breathtaking views. At night, the sky comes alive with stars due to the lack of city lights and the luxury hot tub is the ideal location from which to lie back and enjoy the spectacle, perhaps with a glass of wine. A footpath runs past the cottage leading onto the Shropshire Way and on into Bishop's Castle, or west and linking up with the nearby Offa's Dyke Path. The owners have even provided an external 3-pin electric car charging point should this be required. This lovely cottage has been well equipped and furnished throughout to provide a delightful holiday location all year round.

We spent 2021 NYE here and it is such lovely accommodation in a beautiful and picturesque place. The lodge is perfect for a getaway break with views for miles and every comfort you have at home. Also the hot tub is awesome in such a good spot. Can't wait to revisit!

This is an absolutely fantastic location and holiday rental. The barn itself is top notch in terms of design, furnishings, cleanliness and everything you could need. The views from the hot tub and decking are amazing. Tim is a perfect host being next door - available for any queries if needed. The gifts on arrival were very welcome thank you! Anyone considering coming here should understand that it is down a single track, which was a bit scary on the initial drive, but you quickly get used to it and you wouldn't get the peace and the views without it. Plenty of restaurants and things to do in the area. Great holiday thank you!

We're a family of four & enjoyed our stay here in Bishop's Castle! A great barn conversion with a hot tub all with great views of the Shropshire countryside. Friendly, welcoming hosts & the barn was extremely well equipped & we felt very safe in this current climate!

Had a fantastic week at Bishop’s Barn which is a real home from home. The way the barn has been converted makes the living area extra special with beautiful views across into Wales. The hot tub is an added bonus and we had many a lazy hour enjoying the bubbles. There is so much to do on the doorstep that there is no need to travel far if you don’t want to, lovely walks and great restaurants all within 10 minute drives. We had a truly relaxing week and would thouroughly reccommend this property. We will be going back as this is now our favourite area of the country and best accommodation we have found.

We have just enjoyed a fabulous 2 week holiday at Bishops Castle Barn. The Barn is in an ideal location to enjoy some of the best views in Shropshire; and the vista as you drive down the steep track to the property is worth the cost of the holiday alone! The facilities offered are excellent and the sole use of the large Hot Tub is a perfect addition to your break. The owners of the Barn are on hand if you need them; otherwise your privacy is respected at all times. The Barn is also ideally situated to visit the many attractions within a 40 minute drive. I hope anyone who books a holiday at Bishops Castle Barn has as good a time there as we did. We only travelled 26 miles from Home to have this holiday, and it shows that you don't need to go far to have an amazing time! Shropshire really is a hidden gem! Many Thanks to Tim and Andrea.

This was our third stay in the barn and this time we found the house very tastefully decorated ready for Christmas. Everything we could imagine we might need was provided and some things we didn't know we needed (Bluetooth speakers in the bathroom mirror!) but do now! The Barn is a great base for walking or just exploring the Shropshire Hills. The town of Bishops Castle has good pubs, including the Castle Hotel and The Three Tuns and we can recommend The Ganges Indian Restaurant (need to take your own alcoholic drinks.) Still more to explore than we had time for... We will most definitely be back!

Nothing beats a holiday to Bishops Castle Barn! Myself and my other half have spent 30ish nights at The Barn over 4 trips and we've got out fifth booked in. We love to go there to recharge our batteries and make the most of the English countryside. The hot tub is the perfect end to any day and if you get a clear night the stars are simply breathtaking. Tim, the host, is great! He's there if you need him, but never bothers you. I can't recommend this place enough!

I've just returned from my second stay at the Barn, & I'm certain it won't be my last. I last visited the Barn just before Christmas 2015, so was lovely to see the surroundings in the explosion of Autumn colour. The location itself is perfectly secluded. The owners live next door, but you'd never really know it due to the orientation of the Barn perched on the hillside. Coming from a busy city, the silence is quite notable with the only noise at all coming from the wildlife. The visually stunning panoramic views for miles around across the valley cannot be done justice by any photographs (I tried!). The seemingly endless rolling landscape is dotted with the odd sheep or cow, and you could easily sit enjoying the view & peace for hours. To that end, the wonderful addition of a raised deck with hot-tub means you can relax enjoying nature's ambience in the nice warm bubbles, from watching the sun rise to the sun set. The Barn itself is fantastically restored, & Tim's (the owner) dedication to breathing new life into it is evident in the passionate way he speaks about the restoration project. Beautifully decorated with fantastic, smart technological touches, a relatively small space feels huge with clever structural design and clean lines. Touches like the large beautifully framed view from the kitchen window make this location truly special. The Barn is an enviable place to be, & will have you wondering how to build one of your own and searching 'RightMove' for barn conversions. A short 30 minute walk along the country lanes puts you in Bishops Castle itself which is archetypal country village with pubs, independent shops, & a few spots for tea & cake. Be aware that many shops are shut on Wednesday, & Sunday roasts stop being served at 3pm! I can't really think of a bad thing to say! In all, a fantastic independently owned retreat which has peace & seclusion at its core; real fodder for the soul. Get booking.

The barn was so beautifully converted and despite being next to owners home you cant see each other and your privacy is respected. We weren't disturbed at all. It is so quiet and the views were wonderful from the hot tub.

Rated by Mr Lewis reviewed on 30th October 2015

What a fabulous find this barn conversion is. This 5 star barn sits in secluded splendour less than a mile away from the pretty Bishops Castle town. The barn is top spec throughout and we (Gina my wife and Bailey our 8 year old daughter) were impressed from the minute we saw it. Tim (the owner) is a great host and made us all very welcome. The barn is full of gadgets (I'll let you find out for yourself) and is extremely clean and well looked after. The barn will easily accommodate 4 and is very spacious. The setting is beautiful with far reaching uninterrupted views on your doorstep and great walks into town via a public footpath. The top of the range hot tub was a real winner with all of us and really does give the barn, and indeed the whole stay, the WOW factor. The WiFi connection was fast but mobile phone reception was a bit hit and miss (who cares!!). If you decide to stroll into town the castle hotel does great sandwiches between 12 and 2:30pm and apparently the dinner menu is good too. The Co-op is fine for essential supplies and relatively cheap compared to other small local chains in neighbouring villages. We would highly recommend a stay at the barn- it's ideal for anyone who likes a bit of luxury in beautiful surroundings to recharge the batteries without breaking the bank. We really felt at home and it's not often you can say that after a few days away.......We'll definitely be back!!! Byron, Gina and Bailey

The Barn was of a very high standard in a fantastic location with everything you need for a quiet getaway. The hot tub is an added bonus that we used everyday with fantastic views of the countryside. You couldn't ask for more. The owners are lovely people who make you feel very welcome. Bishops Castle is a lovely village with nice shops and fantastic places to eat out. All in all we had a wonderful week and would love to return sometime in the future.

We have just returned from our stay at the barn and we are sad to be home! What an amazing place, finished to the highest standard and not a single detail has been missed. The owner, Tim, was very welcoming upon our arrival and showed us around, explaining all the gadgets in the barn and how they worked. All very impressive! The views outside are truly stunning and enjoying them from the hot tub was just perfect! The surrounding area is full of beautiful scenery too, in which we enjoyed some great walks. Surrounding villages and towns also very nice and we had a lovely meal at The Castle Hotel in Bishops Castle itself. If you are thinking about booking a stay at the barn, do it! We can't recommend highly enough!

The barn has been renovated to a very high standard and set in a beautiful location wth amazing panaramic views. The hot tub was a great feature and used in the evening to enjoy the views and stars with a little drop of vino. Bishops Castle is well equiped for food and drink with 2 local breweries in the town. Upon on arrival we were greeted by the owner Tim who was very welcoming, who showed us around the cottage and told all that we needed to know about where to eat and drink of an evening. Overall the cottage has been reconstructed to the highest of standards with your very own hot tub! I would without a doubt recommend this cottage!

We received a very warm welcome from the owner who showed us around. There were lovely touches in the design of the barn. The owners have worked very hard to make any guests' stay stress free and totally relaxed, for example the amazing hot tub. Bishop's Castle Barn was within a beautiful setting with no light pollution. The only sounds we heard were from birds, trees blowing in the wind or the sound of sheep. I will treasure the experience forever.

Fantastic barn conversion in a fantastic location. The barn itself is clean, modern and furnished to a high standard - including a fully equipped kitchen, and the owner has even provided nice little touches like a selection of board games and DVDs. Outside, the hot tub has a great view over the valley with nothing more than a few sheep and the occasional bat for company - the perfect place to get away from everything and relax.

Rated by Mr Plumb reviewed on 17th April 2015

Lovely barn conversion with everything completed to a wonderfully high standard. Attention to detail throughout is stunning in every respect with everything you could possibly need including demisting mirrors in the bathrooms! Views around the property are stunning and the pictures dont do justice to what the eyes actually see... Severals ways to get down to the village where there are a couple of places to get food and drink however we did prefer to stay at the cottage, sit on the deck while enjoying the views with the bbq. Definately recomend the property!

Rated by SteveA2589 reviewed on 16th April 2015

We had the absolute privilege of being the first guests to stay at Bishop's Castle Barn and I can honestly say it was perfect in every possible way. The location is stunning, the barn is beautiful, every possible need of guests has been thought of and the hosts were so hospitable, kind, friendly and professional that you would think they had been in the business for years. Within the barn itself you have extra little touches that make it incredibly special - a digital frame showcasing photographs of the barn's refurbishment, FreeSat, DVD player, and a docking station for your music. Add to that the bathroom mirrors which are also Bluetooth capable so you can listen to your music in the shower and we were blown away. Outside, the hot tub sits on a raised deck with views over the countryside surrounding you (including the visiting neighbourly sheep!) and of a nighttime, you can relax in the hot tub looking up at the night sky as there is no light pollution at all. I have been back from the barn for a few days now and I honestly miss it so much. I can't wait to go back and will definitely be returning later this year. I can't recommend this place enough - BOOK BOOK BOOK!!
