Set between the pretty market towns of Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle, is the sleepy little village of Butterknowle. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep, with the North Pennines easily discovered just a few miles away, whilst an array of interesting towns and a wealth of historic attractions can all be enjoyed within an easy drive.
Stayed here for a chilled out girly weekend, gorgeous cottage, absolutely immaculate. Had a lovely welcome from owner Lisa who explained a few things and left us a fire start up pack. Used the taxi number provided and went to Barnard Castle for shopping and food, great location, would definitely recommend to others.
From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome by owners Lisa and Hayley. Full guided tour with lovely welcome pack for us. A quick potted guide to the area and we were left to enjoy our surroundings. Luckily a bit of forward planning saw us enjoy 2017 KYNREN production which I cannot recommend highly enough. Walks in Hamsterley Forest and to High Force Waterfall as well as visits to Bishop Auckland, Barnard Castle, Raby Castle and Darlington saw us have a great break around the area. You will not be disappointed with this property or area.
This Cottage was the best we've stayed in! Very high standard and the owners were very helpful and friendly. The shower and bathroom were again, a very high standard. We'd stay there again!
A beautifully presented cottage with a stylish interior. In a lovely location with very friendly and helpful owners.
Had an amazing few days, the cottage was just perfect. What made the holiday so nice was how well the cottage was furnished. It was a real home from home experience which is what we were looking for having our 2 young children with us.
A lovely quiet property with helpful owners. The property has been furnished and fitted to a really high standard, was clean and in good order. A very restful few days.
