A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Very comfortable and well equipped accommodation. A lovely setting providing a very relaxing holiday.
The cottage was superbly equipped with excellent facilities. It is in a beautiful area full of interesting things to do and places to visit.
The house was immaculate and very well equipped. The underfloor heating and gas fire made it very cosy and warm on cold days, and the west facing patio was ideal when the weather became warmer. There is a beautiful outlook over fields, and the house is well located for exploring the area.
The standard of the barn was excellent, could not fault a thing at all, and the owner made us feel very welcome on arrival. Overall a 5 star holiday.
A beautiful barn conversion with a high spec finish and tasteful furnishings. Wow! what a view. Very comfortable and clean. So relaxing.
We chose The Old Byre because of its location and because it had 2 bedrooms, both of which were en suite. We were not expecting such a stunning cottage. Everything was perfect; from the underfloor heating to the magnificent gas fire in the living area. The owner of the cottage was most welcoming and informative. The Old Byre is thoroughly recommended for all occasions.
The Byre was homely, very fresh and clean. We particularly loved the fire and comfortable sofas. There were beautiful views from the property and it had a relaxed feel about it.
Perfect in every way!
We had an excellent week at this Cottage and would not hesitate to recommend it. The Cottage was superb. The surrounding area was beautiful and the owners very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
We have been in many five star cottages in England and many Swiss and Austrian Hotels that have been five star. This cottage is beautiful and the standard of the cottage is definitely five star as well as being in a delightful area. Caynham village is only three miles from historic Ludlow. We arrived on Friday to a warm welcome from the owner Ray who with his wife Jill were very friendly and helpful. The cottage is open plan but thoughtfully designed so that it was extremely cosy as well as being thoroughly modern and up to date. All the appliances and furniture were lovely. There were two bedrooms both en suite and very comfortable. The lounge had two reclining sofas with floor to ceiling duplex windows which looked out onto a beautiful vista of fields and trees. There was a dining room and all the furniture was of light oak - it all fitted perfectly with the beamed byre. We found it great being only three miles from Ludlow but right in the countryside. We even heard barn owls at night which sounded as though they were sat on our roof. We would absolutely recommend this cottage for a really relaxing and comforable break. Would return in a heartbeat.
We absolutely loved the cottage. We had a delightful week at The Old Byre and would highly recommend it to everyone. The owners are very welcoming hosts and had a wealth of information on the area.
Stayed at this delightful cottage for one week, wish it could have been longer. It's a very well appointed cottage, with both bedrooms having an ensuite each, comfortable beds, TV's in each bedroom, large comfortable lounge with decent size TV, gas fire (didn't need) nice dining room, large kitchen with everything you need. Downstairs toilet, underfloor heating throughout the cottage and lovely patio. The owners of the farm Ray & Jill are a delightful couple, very hospitable and a wealth of knowledge of the area. The cottage is only a short drive into Ludlow, if you're there Friday or Saturday they have a great market, great places to eat and the Ludlow Castle is worth a visit. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone visiting the Shropshire District
The exceptional standard of The Old Byre was a wonderful surprise. The owner was so friendly and helpful he made us feel at home the moment we stepped out of the car. The cottage is also in a wonderful setting with views out onto fields.
The standard of the cottage was very high. It had everything needed for a family holiday and we would love to return for another holiday soon.
The property was a lot better than expected, the owner was their if required. After visiting Shropshire for 20 years this is by far the best one yet, 5 star plus.
The accommodation was of a very high standard which was perfect for us to have a relaxing break. The views and area were beautiful. The owners were on hand and very friendly overall fabulous. Thank you.
We particularly liked the location and views, the access to walks and places of interest and the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts. Excellent set up and condition of property.
