Situated on the River Teme amongst the countryside of the Welsh Marches is the market town of Ludlow. With nearly 500 listed buildings, Ludlow's medieval street pattern remains almost intact, providing a unique backdrop for the town's street markets. These events take place beneath the impressive castle and showcase a range of local goods - from cheeses and fresh produce to books and crafts. Ludlow is renowned for its shopping, with a number of high quality antique and craft shops, along with several Michelin-starred restaurants, numerous tea-shops and pubs. The castle itself is over 900 years old and the Linney Riverside Park provides boat hire, a putting green and children's play area. Ludlow is within easy reach of Church Stretton, Shrewsbury and Hereford, as well as popular attractions such as Ironbridge Gorge, Severn Valley Railway and Berrington Hall.
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Ludlow is a super town and Harris House is a short 5 minute walk to the centre. The house was exactly as described and very well equipped in the kitchen. The surrounding area is beautiful, eg Long Mynd and Shrewsbury.
Ludlow is a lovely place to visit, for walks, eclectic shops and pubs and a very relaxing break. Harris House is everything you have read already, superbly well equipped, comfy beds, lots of room, every consideration covered. Loved cooking here as I wasn't short of any equipment (with most self catering places they've missed something unusual). 10 minutes maximum walk to town and walks beyond but still extremely peaceful.
Harris House was a superb spacious well appointed holiday address within 10 minute walk to Ludlow centre . Quiet location with lovely garden for relaxing in . One big benifit was off road parking and easy access to A49 for travelling to Other places of interest eg . Stokesay Castle .
Harris House was beautiful in every way so spacious and comfortable we felt at home straight away. We had great weather while there so took advantage of the well kept back garden. Ludlow is a great bustling market town with so many places on the doorstep to explore. We look forward to returning and sampling more of it's fabulous cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Harris House felt like home, and is in an excellent location to walk into Ludlow to visit restaurants etc.
This lovely, quite and peaceful house had everything we needed. It is very clean and comfortable. The cottage has beautiful views and is in a great location for exploring the area.
Top class accommodation in an interesting area that we had not previously visited.
The cottage was superb all round, a really fantastic place in a friendly neighbourhood with lots of places in easy reach and a good train service. Fantastic.
Harris House was cosy, comfortable, spacious and light. The house is conveniently located for the town centre and all the local amenities. There is plenty of off-road parking which is handy. Ludlow is a beautiful little town. Great independent shops and restaurants with friendly, helpful staff. There is plenty to do and see locally.
We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate a family birthday. Five adults - lots of room. We couldn't fault it in any way whatsoever and were glad of the parking space and the easy 10 minute walk into Ludlow
We spent a fantastic week in Ludlow in this house. It is just a few minutes walk from central Ludlow, a beautiful ,small town in south Shropshire, surrounded by countryside perfect for exploring and walking. The house has enough space for three cars parking. Three bedrooms fitted out with wonderfully comfortable beds and duvrets. The kitchen has plenty of space to eat in, is perfect for every level of chef or cook and a great view from the widow to the hills and church. A formal dining room and a very comfortable lounge go with this house as well as a great garden . Yes we loved this space. The owner was always available to us by phone and though we did not meet with him sounded very helpful. A highlight of our visit to Britain.
This was spacious and welcoming accommodation in a quiet area close to the town centre. It was very well equipped and we enjoyed being in it!
We stayed at Harris House to celebrate my Mother's 60th Birthday with 3 generations of family. The property was excellently equipped, there wasn't a single thing we didn't have available to us. Bedding and towels were included as was washing up liquid, hand soap and basic kitchen essentials such as tea, coffee, salt, pepper etc. The owner offers use with a request to replace what you finish off. The kitchen had everything we needed plus more. The property is very spacious and great for all ages, lots of room for an under 2 to explore with stair gates, high chair and travel cot provided. Short walk to Ludlow town centre, with lots of cafe's, pubs, restaurants and independent shops. Would definitely stay again.
The house was excellent and very comfortable, we could not speak more highly of it. It was in a quiet location a short walk to the town and was also five minutes to the railway station. We had some lovely days out both in Shropshire and Hereford, a lovely part of the country.
