The delightful market town of Hawes is the highest settlement in Wensleydale and home to the delicious Wensleydale cheese. The town is also famous for rope making; a skill passed down through the generations and a fascination for many of the visitors that come to the town. A regular market is held on a Tuesday and Hawes has many excellent shops and eateries in its midst. The beautiful limestone countryside surrounding the town provides a huge variety of walks and other outdoor pursuits, and for sightseeing opportunities the area is unsurpassed with the spectacular Hardraw Force and theAysgarth falls just two of the natural wonders to be seen. Hawes is a delightful town and makes a superb base for a holiday in this magnificent area.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Reviews

This was our 5th visit to Hawes and Bridge House. The town of Hawes is very attractive with interesting shops, restaurants, pubs and the famous Creamery. It is the ideal place for many enjoyable walks. Bridge House is much bigger than it looks from the outside. It has everything you could possibly want for a great holiday. It is Spacious, spotlessly clean, modern kitchen, Sky, WiFi and excellent heating which makes it warm and cosy. Parking is right outside in the courtyard for one car and free parking for a second car just 100 yards away. There is just one word to describe Bridge House – perfect!

For a walking holiday in the Dales this was ideal for us. Three of us stayed 6 nights in the excellent Bridge House in Hawes and found everything was exactly what we hoped for. The property was immaculate, clean, well appointed and comfortable. There was literally no negative points at all. We had 2 cars, one of which took the allocated space and the other parked in free public car park less than 100 yards away. The cottage is a minute away from the pubs and restaurants of Hawes where we found an excellent selection of menus and some great ales. Ideal property in ideal location. We plan to return.

Stayed for 3 nights. The cottage is very well located within the town and within walking distance of all pubs and eateries. The cottage was well presented and spotlessly clean. There is the benefit of a well equipped modern kitchen with plenty of pots, pans and utensils. The rooms are spacious, and modern. Most importantly there was plenty of hot water for showers There is a reserved parking space which was ideal in a courtyard. This is a great find if you need a base from which to walk and explore the surrounding area with quality walks close by. Added to that you are in the town and within walking distance of all it has to offer! I would commend the food at crocketts hotel and the fabulous Green Dragon Inn at Hardraw for its history and beer. We would have no hesitation in recommending Bridge House and there were no negatives.

This is an excellent choice for a holiday rental right in the centre of Hawes. The cottage is larger on the inside that you expect from the outside. The furnishings are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The bathrooms are modern and there is plenty of hot water. The owner was very helpful in his directions to find the cottage and how to park in the correct place. When we had visitors with another car it was easy to find a space in the free car park nearby. Very convenient for the village, which has many choices of restaurants at every price point and good food shopping.

Perfect location, only a few yards from Gayle Beck, and 2 minutes from shops. Just spent a week here and very impressed by this cottage. Has everything required to make your stay welcoming and comfortable. Very well equipped, well presented and in excellent condition. If you like walking, in my opinion, this is the place to stay. This is 5 star accommodation at it's best.

We have just spent a week in the cottage and loved it. Ideal base for exploring the Dales and perfectly placed to explore Hawes and the walks from the doorstep. The cottage was so clean and fresh and extremely well equipped one of the best we have stayed in we will be back again to stay in this cottage.

Bridge House is perfectly located in a quiet side road just off the main street in Hawes. Shops and restaurants are all within easy walking distance and it's an ideal location for exploring the upper Dales. Extremely well-appointed cottage, especially the bathroom and en-suite facilities. The off-road parking space, washer/dryer and wifi also ticks all the boxes. Thoroughly recommended.

The cottage was in a perfect location, right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage was perfect for us, very well equipped and felt like home. It was very warm and very comfortable for five persons with high levels of cleanliness. It was also well equipped for bad weather with umbrellas, Sky television and very fast Broadband.
