Location Details

The ancient Stannary town of Ashburton lies on the southern slopes of Dartmoor and is an ideal spot from which to explore rugged high moors to the North and a beautiful coastline to the South. The scenery in this area of South Devon is glorious in all weathers and offers visitors opportunities for walking, pony trekking, canoeing, fishing and lazing on the beach. Ashburton has some interesting artisan shops and with its interesting history and museum, has built a reputation for its high standard of antiques and fine collectables outlets.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

We stayed in this beautiful cottage for 2 nights in November. Its fully equipped with everything you need from an iron and ironing board to full kitchen facilities, board games, books and a wood burner. Clean and very spacious and we can't wait to visit again. Would Highly recommend. Thank you Higher Whiddon Farm :-)

This is an amazing property to rent. It is a stunning cottage, very well equipped and tastefully decorated throughout. It has fabulous views and is in a great location to travel around South Devon, within easy reach of gorgeous beaches (particularly in South Hams) and lovely Devonshire villages. The A38 Express also gives easy access to many stores and shopping outlets. The cottage is situated on a farm adjacent to the lovely owners Becky, Chris & their lovely children Amelia & Joshua. They are so friendly & helpful and are really chilled. Chris is a retired successful NH Jockey and on the farm they breed and break in race horses. The new stable built this year is absolutely stunning. The horses were an added wonderful experience to our holiday. They are magnificent and I fell totally in love with all of them. It has been so interesting listening to Chris and learning about the racing industry and although we have had a great time visiting the various beaches and places during the day I have to admit that I couldn't wait to come back later in the day to have a 'horse hug' with Rex, Boo & Charlie! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful holiday let. It is a totally unique experience and so dog friendly which is the main reason we booked it. We will definitely return and wish Chris & Becky all the success with their business - they certainly deserve it!

We had a really lovely stay at Higher Whiddon Farm! The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped, and from the garden and kitchen you have a lovely view over the fields with horses. In the house there is also a lot of information available about the area. We certainly recommend this place to anybody who wants to explore Dartmoor National Park!

Peaceful tranquil location in picturesque Devon farming countryside, 5 minutes from Dartmoor! This is a lovely property we had no issues during our stay with family and our two dogs. The garden is not enclosed but for responsible owners with well trained dogs this is not an issue. The owners who live nearby are very very very friendly and helpful and there was not enough they could do to make us feel welcome and to make our stay stress free. Plenty to see and do nearby. A charming cottage in a beautiful location would defiantly recommend without hesitation.

The owners of the cottage were exceptionally hospitable and made us and our dogs feel very welcome. The location of the cottage provides an excellent base for the moors. The décor was also lovely. We will definitely return.

The quality of the cottage and furnishings were 5 star. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the wood-burning stove was fantastic, the cottage was really warm and cosy. The owners were so welcoming and were happy to help any time. The cottage was easy to access off the motorway and yet still truly remote and quiet. A good location for access to Dartmoor national park and all its attractions.

My need was to relax and chill out and this splendid cottage certainly gave us all we needed. The owners were charming and so helpful. Our holiday really was truly wonderful and the horses were the added bonus.

We had a really wonderful time at the property. The owners were so helpful and friendly but at the same time respected our privacy and made the experience extra special. It was a fantastic location, right on the moors for some wonderful walks and with lovely pubs near by. We would highly recommend staying here and will be sure to come back.

Excellent accommodation to explore South Devon and Dartmoor looking at its best. A quiet location, and the owners were very friendly and breed racehorses. We have had most enjoyable holidays in several of your cottages around the country for many years and Higher Whiddon Farm was one of the best!

This cottage is a fantastic find, definitely feels like a home from home and was surprised at how spacious it is. The furniture and décor are lovely with a nice cosy feel and it is spotless throughout. The owners made us feel more like friends than guests. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who wanted to get away from it all and also to anyone who wanted to be centrally based for getting around Devon. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back again.
