From the moment I booked I knew this place was a Gem. Communication was fabulous. On arrival there was a welcome gift of wine and essential items. This made us feel special. The cottage is well equipped with anything and everything you should need during your stay. It’s clean and decorated to a high standard in fact it felt like my dream home. The attic bedroom is perfect for teens and children with lots of games on a PlayStation. We have a wide range of DVDs and books and jigsaws and games in case we have a rainy day. Location wise it’s simple perfect- Alton towers is just up the road (great for my teens) but as we came for our doggies holiday let’s focus on that. Dog bowls provide (Mischa was very interested) and a lockable yard. So many Beautiful walks all from your door. Misha was in doggy heaven. The shower is great and kitchen is fabulous - you name it, it’s there. 100% we will be coming back. Thank you Ash cottage Zoë, Daniel, Kit, chronic and Mischa
Ash House is a cosy and well-equipped cottage in a perfect location for Alton Towers and some beautiful walks in the countryside. There are a couple of really good pubs in a short walking distance that both serve food, as well as a great little shop. The cottage was well stocked with items we needed for our toddler and was very safe for him to explore.
We are just home from a 3 night stay at Ash House and will definitely return. After visiting Alton towers for many years we were delighted to find this perfectly beautiful cottage and wouldn’t go anywhere else now. It had everything we needed and we received a lovely welcome pack with treats for our stay. The cottage is spotlessly clean and so comfortable with a well equipped kitchen if you want to cook while there. Alton village is just lovely with some great local pubs that have fab food. It’s Less than 5 mins to Alton Towers which was also great. The cottage is really spacious, there were 6 of us and there was lots of room. It is also really cozy, when we got n at night it was getting chilly, a wee boost of heat and the whole place was as lovely and warm. There is a post office and small shop just a short walk selling anything you need. Cheadle is around 10 min drive with lots of shops and pubs/take aways. I would definitely Highly recommend Ash House, We are going to book now for our next stay Thank you for our lovely stay
We had a fabulous weekend at Ash House as a surprise for my husband’s birthday. The cottage is in a lovely location. It is such a comfortable and cosy place, and plenty big enough for a family of 5. It was very well equipped with everything you would need. The kids loved the top bedroom and there were some lovely touches with the fluffy blankets. Alton itself is a lovely village with a decent shop and some lovely pubs. Lovely walks on the doorstep but also close to walks in Dovedale and the like. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and hope to enjoy another visit in the future.
We had a superb time at Ash House! We were going to Alton towers and came across Ash House on booking.come... we were not disappointed! The house is clean, cosy and much larger than photos show. The location is fantastic for the park and not to mention the pub right around the corner . Everything you need is provided at the property The treats (wine, groceries, biscuits...) were well received, thank you! Such a lovely touch. Will be staying at Ash House again, everything was hassle free and enjoyable. Thanks again!
Well what can I say this cottage has got it all, Ideal size for 4 Adults and two or 3 children although it is rated 3 bedrooms sleeps six, the attic bedroom has three single beds ideally suited for three kids. Looking from the outside looks small,no its a tardis, large dining kitchen with a full size cooker range, large sitting room with two couches TV, WiFi etc and two large double bedrooms and family bathroom with separate shower and bath. Small courtyard leads directly on to the road. Parking across the busy road with ample free spaces. This cottage is in an ideal area for the peak District and all its beauty, within 15 to 30 minutes drive Threntham gardens,go Ape, Burton adventure farm and maize,JCB is only 10 minutes drive at Rocester, lovely walks around the lake and there is a small pitch and putt golf course, lots to do from Alton, not forgetting the famous Alton Towers which is only 20 minutes walk from the cottage. Lots of pubs in the village with limited dinning options because of covid 19,but they have got it well sorted. Londis shop in the village, but if you need a bigger shop, Morrisons is not far away, also tesco. The cottage as got a separate fridge and freezer in the garage and a fridge in the kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this cottage and will be back in the near future.
Great cottage with lots of character. Would definitely stay again. Query and nicely decorated. Note the third bedroom is a loft bedroom with stairs off the second bedroom and no door - but great for kids.
The location to Alton Towers makes this property the most ideal place to stay for the 5 minutes journey for the fun filled family break. Ash house is also great for eating out leaving the car as three pubs that I visited The White Hart & The Bulls Inn are both within 2mins walk and The Blacksmiths Arms a 10mins walk all serving lovely food. This was our 2nd visit staying at Ash House and we'll visit again.
Just returned from a lovely weekend at Ash House. It's a beautiful cosy cottage which contains everything you need for a short stay away. We were worried that being on the main road to Alton Towers - 5 minutes away, it would be very noisy but the owners have provided for this with glazing which shuts out all the noise. Thoroughly recommend this cottage.
This is the second time we've stayed at Ash House. We love the location, right in the heart of Alton, close to the Bull's Head and the local store. It has all the comforts of home, including comfy beds, a real fire, fully equipped kitchen, games, books and DVDs for cosy nights in. Top spot for visiting Alton Towers, when it's open. Note the third bedroom is accessed via stairs within the second bedroom – great for families, but might compromise the privacy of groups of friends.
Stayed with 5 friends for a weekend, the house looks small from the outside but loads of space inside. Good sized kitchen for hosting, cosy living area and decent sized bedrooms. The beds were really comfortable, including the camp bed in the attic. Fully equipped kitchen had all you would want and a lovely welcome hamper which went down a treat. The only downside was there were only 5 outside seats for the six of us and there were a lot of persistent pesky wasps in the sitting area outside. Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend this property and the village for a visit.
Starting with the positives! Alton is a lovely little village and this property is just 5 minutes drive from Alton Towers. Some lovely little pubs and walks in the area so a great base for a family break. The house itself is spacious and very well equipped. Kitchen especially has literally everything you could possibly need! The beds are also extremely comfortable...guaranteed a good sleep after long days of walking!! The negatives...and these are only niggles which wouldn't put us off staying again... The parking situation others have mentioned isn't a major deal. However, the road to cross is extremely busy and you are right on a bend. The gate is literally right at the roadside and is not bolted (latched) so if you have very young kids, something to consider. Traffic fairly constant and so if you are looking for peace and quiet, unfortunately you won't get it. The attic den is great for kids but unfortunately, we had issues getting the PS3 to work. This meant no gaming or DVDs. Downstairs has a blu ray player which is useless for the great selection of DVDs supplied! Overall though, lovely homely property and would definitely book again
Great base for Alton Towers and the surrounding Peak Disctrict. The house was really lovely and cosy with a wood burner in the living room and plenty of space for a family of four. My 7 year old daughter loved the attic bedroom with den! We all enjoyed the welcome pack of bread, butter, jam and a bottle of wine on arrival. Only downside was the very busy road next to the house and crossing it to get to the car. However this property was one of the best holiday homes we have rented as it was very well equipped and felt like a real home from home.
A weeks stay in this amazing gem of a cottage was such a lovely experience. Great information and instructions given to us beforehand from the owners and a wealth of information on the village and the area is available in the cottage. Lovely welcome pack on arrival, everything we needed to start our week. It was certainly home from home. Instructions for all the electrical equipment and all mod cons are provided. This cottage is very comfortable and very welcoming. Before we arrived we had concerns about parking but it really was never a problem, just follow the instructions given and it is easy. Alton is a lovely little village, Londis is a god send, as we found the pubs food availability hit and miss, maybe because it was 'out of season?' nowhere serves food on a Monday and The Royal Oak is now closed, however The Bulls Head is definitely worth a visit and is literally 2 mins walk away, great food, good variety of ales and ciders. There are plenty of pubs to drive to and the Lovely Denstone Garden Centre just a few miles away, great food served there. The cottage is located on the road to Alton Towers, approx 1 mile away, we visited twice. Lots of local walks, The Ramblers Retreat is well worth a look, open Tues-Sun 10-00 - 4:00 This cottage was a delight to stay in and certainly has everything you need for a great holiday. Many Thanks to the owners for making our stay so special.
Just got home from a week at Ash House and what a well equipped cottage that makes you fell at home rather than a functional rental cottage. Equipped with everything you need and comfy mattresses to boot. Lovely touch with the bottle of wine and basics on arrival. The cottage is in the centre of Alton and it's shops and pubs are a very short walk away. Great base for exploring the local area and a visit to a Pugin masterpiece in Cheadle At. Giles Church is highly recommend. My only 2 grumbles are that there is a light shade in the kitchen which is close to both the cooker and sink and at 6 foot 2 is at eye level and difficult to avoid whilst manoeuvring in this area. The kitchen as well always felt cold even with the heating on, which is a shame as the rest of the house is warm and cosy. This does not detract from the rest of the cottage.
Arrived Friday afternoon with Family and Friends and stayed until Sunday morning, we all had a great weekend and couldn’t recommend this place enough. When arriving there was some goodies from the owners which was a lovely touch also the whole cottage was very clean, all the towels and bedding was fresh and comfortable. The cottage is a great location to all near areas we visited Alton Towers for the Fireworks weekend and it was only 7 minutes drive away and had no problems with the traffic. Would defiantly recommend this place and even return in the future. Thank you for a great stay Ash house and we have some great memories.
We had a fabulous 3 night stay in the cozy cottage. All you could ever wish for on a trip for Alton Towers, 5 minute drive to resort. Lovely comfy beds, wood burning fire if it’s cold and a great sized family kitchen. The village of Alton itself was a great base for our trip. We had a lovely meal in The White Hart which was a short walk round the corner. We couldn’t rate this Ash House highly enough!
This cottage is genuinely a home from home. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome pack that included a personal note and a bottle of wine. The cottage it's self is amazing and has everything you would ever need. If fact it's my dream home! It's immaculately clean and has everything you would ever need, including a PlayStation in the attic room (we lost our 17 yr old to this most nights). The small village has a warm welcoming feel with the shop selling any essentials you may need. Alton towers is literally 2 mins up the road and we took great joy watching the steams off traffic leaving the park every night knowing they may have a long journey ahead of them! Ha ha. I cannot rate this cottage more highly, with its warm welcome, cleanliness, small village feel, local aminities and close proximity to Alton towers. We really can't fault it!
A very comfortable and very well appointed house. Lovely furnishings and lots of interesting knick knacks. Very clean. Very well heated. Comfortable beds. As two reasonably mobile adults we found it a good choice. 3 good pubs within a 10 minute walk. (Would particularly recommend the Royal Oak for excellent food.) Post Office and newsagents 1 minute walk and a fair size Londis supermarket open until 9:30 pm is only a 3 minute walk. However, the house has no garden and the small enclosed patio is only a few feet from one of the main roads to Alton Towers which is only a couple of miles away. Fine if you are visiting Alton Towers, less so if not. The traffic is constant from mid-morning to late afternoon and often grinds to a halt right outside the house. The house has very effective double glazing so noise is not a problem inside the house. The traffic stops later in the afternoon and peace returns for the evening, so the traffic is only a problem if you remain in the house during the day. There is no parking at the house or on the main road outside. Cars need to be left in the road opposite the house, about 30 yards away. However, crossing the road to get to the car or unload luggage is a tricky operation during the day because of the traffic and extremely limited visibilty of traffic coming round the corner. Crossing the road outside could be very tricky for anyone with limited mobility. That being said, for any reasonably mobile person this is a nice house and a good choice.
Beautiful cottage and very well equipped. We stayed as a family of 4 plus parents so 6 in oh and plus our dog. there was plenty of space, everything we could of needed I even managed to cook a full roast for us on New Year's Day. Beautiful village with plenty to do in the surrounding area. perfect home from home.
What a beautiful and cosy cottage! Really nicely decorated and very well equipped with everything we needed. Was very clean and comfortable and had some very useful info and maps of walks in local area. Lovely touch that we were greeted by a bottle of wine, biscuits and some bread when we arrived. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a group of friends or families.
Haven't even finished my stay yet but I have to say how lovely the house is in every aspect and how brilliant your housekeepers have been letting us in when we have locked ourselves out!! how embarrassing!! You've been great and once again I'm sorry
The cottage was a great size for just the four of us, it had everything we needed and was only a short drive to Alton towers. The village was lovely and quiet and it was easy to find. Just to warn others the drive to load and unload is very steep and I scratched the bottom of my bumper when we first arrived, which I wasn't happy about. I would advise leaving it on the road opposite and loading up there, unless you are driving a 4x4. Other than that it was perfect. Defiantly returning to do more exploring.
This was our first holiday home experience, we received such a warming welcome from the moment of booking to arriving at Ash House. The owner was contactable & replied promptly advising us with everything we needed to know about the House, location, area etc. A lovely welcome pack was a great surprise on arrival. The location of Ash House is superb for visiting Alton Towers just being a 5min car journey away. So many places to visit nearby over the Peak District.
Alton is a lovely little village and Ash House was a great choice to stay. The house was lovely and relaxing which made our stay all the more enjoyable. Perfect for a family getaway or just a weekend away with friends!
We stayed here on the 5th Feb for 2 nights for my boyfriends birthday with some of his family. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and you immediately feel at home. The place was absolutely spotless and the housekeeper had even left us a little treat of red wine and a packet of lovely biscuits. The cottage in in the middle of Alton, there are lovely pubs close by serving great food. The closest pub The Bulls Head has recently closed down. Everyone in the village were very friendly and happy to point us in the right direction as we didn't really know the area. We visited Ashbourne on Saturday and also The Heights of Abraham which were close by and I would recommend. The cottage had plently of plates, glasses and cutlery if needed. There were 6 of us staying at the cottage, there are 6 double beds, and 2 singles. One thing to mention is one of the bedrooms (the loft) you have to walk through the second bedroom to get to it so may accidently wake people up during the night of you need to go the bathroom. This wasn't really a problem for us. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others and thank you so much to the housekeeper and owner for making our weekend :)
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, a real home from home. We had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Our stay at Ash House was perfect! The house is so beautifully decorated and well equipped. The fire makes the living room feel very cosy! The cottage is set in idyllic surroundings - we had a lovely walk around Llam which is a short drive away. We had such a great long weekend and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone!
This is a beautiful cottage which has been furnished to a very high standard, much more than an average holiday cottage with everything you could need.
We enjoyed the cottage, it had everything we needed and Alton was a nice relaxing village that we enjoyed, we would like to return one day.
"We have had a wonderful stay in Ash House. So cozy, very well equipped and our three boys (aged 7, 5, 2) loved the attic bedroom and huge bath tub! We look forward to returning in the near future. Thank you also for the lovely welcome."
Liked the high quality of all the fittings and equipment in the kitchen, the cosy feel of the rooms and the charming location.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Ash House. The house is well equipped, spacious, clean and very cosy. Our three little boys loved the attic bedroom and they didn't want to leave!
