Fab week away with family. Cottage was amazing especially the games room where we spent every evening. The cottage was huge and had everything we could need and more. Kath the owner was lovely. Would definitely recommend. Views where amazing from the garden
Myself and some friends and family stayed here for my 40th. It was a stunning location with amazing views. The cottage was a huge hit with the games room and hot tub! We all loved our stay and wished it had been longer. We will be back. 5*
We didn't want to leave! Had a fabulous long weekend with all the family in the most well-equipped place we've ever stayed, the bedroons were spacious and comfortable, the games room was occupied by us for most of the time, we were fortunate to have sunny weather so also took advantage of the many outdoor seating areas looking out over the Irish sea, towels were provided for the hot tub, colour coded to whichever bedroom you were staying in, we will definitely be back
**PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU CONSIDER BOOKING NEAR BANK COTTAGE ** Myself and a group of friends booked to stay here in early January 2020 for a friends birthday weekend. Throughout the duration of our stay our room was infested with flies. We had to use fly spray we found in the property to kill all the flies. Proving that there clearly is an issue with insects in this property. Our bedroom door and window were closed the whole duration of our stay at near bank cottage as the weather was cold, so there was no way in which the flies entered through the window or any other opening. At no point were we informed of the risk of flies by the landlord although there clearly is a massive insect issue at this property. Furthermore, upon speaking to the owners of the property via the agency we used to book this property we were told that the owners would NOT reimburse the deposit paid or even just a portion of it. The mere fact that the owners of the property felt that it was ok for guests to have to endure such treatment is poor customer service. We didn't even get an apology - proving the above point even more. We would not stay here again and neither would we recommend or advice that anyone else should. Good customer service goes a long way - unfortunately the owners don't understand or appreciate this.
There was a group of 10 of us which included a baby, 5 teens and four adults so finding somewhere to cater for all of us in terms of keeping everybody happy and entertained was always going to be a challenge but Near Bank Cottage hit the nail on the head. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the cottage. As other reviews have highlighted you are not left for wanting anything. Whether its the fully equipped games room, in which we tended to spend most of our time, or the fully equipped kitchen to feed a hoard of hungry teenagers the cottage has it all. The cottage is located down its own small track off a quiet lane so peace and tranquility is a given. The hot tub is fantastic and looks out over the surrounding countryside. There is also multiple outdoor areas for relaxing and entertaining. The bedrooms are all a really good size and we had no issues at all housing the ten of us. Probably the highlight of the stay for us had to have been the games room. It contains pool table, ping pong table, darts board, air hockey, TV, chromecast, WiFi, stack of DVDs and games/puzzles, toys, cuddly toy (yes I think there was actually a cuddly toy :) ) there is literally everything in this room you could need. The house benefits from WiFi throughout which had recently been added which as much as you would like to think you dont need it its actually a great benefit. In terms of the location there is not a great deal to do on your doorstep but to be honest once you are in the cottage you need to find a damn good reason to leave. The beach is only a 5 minute drive away buts that's as far as we ventured. Overall I cannot express how great Near Bank Cottage is and we will definitely be returning.
Beautiful cottage, I'd say it was equipped but it would not do the cottage justice, it has everything and i mean EVERYTHING! Nearest decent shop is five mins away (Bootle) owners are so helpful and a pleasure to meet, i would recommend trips to Ravenglass and the local pubs. Feedback for the owners is minimal, WI-FI strength is a little weak in lounge and upstairs. Enjoy your stay! Do not forget to go the king billy grill!!!
We had a fabulous Time in the cottage celebrating a 18th,21st and 30th birthday, the games room was a hit and the hot tub was so nice and relaxing at night. Kath and Jim thought of everything to a welcome pack of wine and biscuits and milk in the fridge all the cooking equipment you can think of. We will definitely book this spacious cottage again thank you Jo
I have stayed in a cottage in Cumbria before, but this was beyond expectations. As we pulled in we was already taken away by the look, style and amazing views. The cottage had everything we needed and on arrival we was greeted with a couple of bottles of wine and some chocolates, nice touch after a long drive. the cottage was very clean, new with modern bathrooms and kitchen. The whole cottage felt very homely and cosy, a couple of nights we sat in the lounge area with the fire burning, again plenty of logs provided. The beds where comfy and clean, definitely more comfy than ours at home :) We went as a group of 9 and there was more than enough room, table was big enough for 12-14 so was nice to all sit around and have dinner. The views from the cottage are breathtaking. our main highlights were 1st the hot tub. sitting in this in the evening under the stars, looking out towards the Irish sea was perfect. 2nd was the games room, again another great touch, we spend a few evenings in here, pool table, table tennis, darts, air hockey. Plenty of games and DVD's for the kids to keep them busy. I always like to add some positive criticism and areas of improvement. We had a few light bulbs missing. in a couple of bedrooms and landing, didn't realise until it was dark. And with technology these days the WiFi could have been better, but being in the middle of no where this may have been the best it can be but it kept cutting out Being picky we had to do some manual DIY work on the table tennis net and the pool table may need re clothing soon. But as mentioned we had a fantastic time, the owners where lovely. the cottage was stunning and we are already looking at dates for next year to go back.
We went for a long weekend as a group of 9 friends and we weren't disappointed. This cottage has everything. The Hot tub and games room were great for socializing and the dining table was lovely for everyone to eat together. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and the cottage was so well equipped I can't even list everything. We took kitchen gadgets but found that everything was already there including a slow cooker. We had a brief problem with the heating system and the owner Kath came within the hour to sort it out. We felt very welcome and have already booked to go back later in the year. The cottage is near some lovely places to walk and the view from the hot tub at sunset was magical.
We stayed at the cottage for my 50th birthday. The whole family absolutely loved it, it had everything you could ask for. The house was really spacious and all the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The games room was a big hit with everyone. The owner Kathleen was lovely and friendly. Would highly recommend Near Bank cottage for a fantastic stay.
This place has everything a group want private places everywhere- great communal rooms and spaces great views lovely country side, private near beaches, hills and lakes no wonder it books up fast and to top it all the owners are great and it is fresh and clean and full of modern chic
We stayed at near bank cottage to celebrate my husband's 30th there was 4 couples and each and every one of us thought the cottage was amazing. So well equipt and comfortable it's home from home with a beautiful log burner. we played games and took quite a few with us but they had lots of them there they had dvds colouring books alongside the big games like pool table tennis and air hockey we were never short of things to do! The hot tub was a huge hit and we even popped to ravenglass for pub lunch one day . All in all its 5 star from us thanks again we will deffinatly be back .
Jacuzzi, games room, wood burning fire in a spacious and cosy cottage. Nestled in a stunning area of Cumbria too, one of the best short stays of my life, thank you!!!!
Fantastic 2nd visit to nearbank cottage love the cottage plenty of room for everyone games room a great hit with all ages first time range of ages from 14 to 48 and this time age ranged right up to 75 hot tub fantastic and scenery breath taking found loads more places to visit again so great came home and booked again for next year a place I will revisit again and again !!!
Just returned from a week celebrating my 50th Birthday with family (all adults). The cottage is beautiful and really exceeded my expectations. The owners have thought of everything. The games room is very large and a great place to spend time socialising. The hot tub was amazing, beautiful to relax and enjoy the view over the Irish Sea. The living area is great, very cosy for just relaxing in front of the log burning fire. The cottage has been modernised and the decor is lovely. The kitchen area is fully stocked up with everything you need to cook meals for all. We were blessed with lovely weather and the sun shone on the outside sitting areas all day. There are lots of different sitting areas inside and out, so if you fancy a little quiet time you have lots of choice. Kath (one of the owners) is extremely welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Everyone in our party fully enjoyed their stay here and we will return. Thanks for you hospitality Kath.
Every year, my entire family go on the hunt for a cottage just like this. This year we were thrilled when we arrived at Near Bank Cottage. This cottage surpassed all expectations. The owner greeted us on our arrival and showed us round. On the dining table was a basket of wines and shortbread. The cottage was well supplied with salt, pepper, soap, toilet paper, hot tub towels and regular towels. Also an incredible array of kitchen utensils pots, pans, and crockery. The cottage and grounds where immaculately presented, and the quality of everything from the linens to the fixtures and fittings where superb. Not only was there Wi-Fi but there was a Wi-Fi extender, TVs with DVD players, Chrome Casts, piles of DVDs and board games. The view is phenomenal especially from the hot tub. To sum up this cottage was amazing. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. If you found this review helpful please hit the thumbs up button bellow.
We booked this cottage for a long weekend to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. Having stayed in holiday cottages before it's often a chance as to whether the pictures give you a good impression of what you are getting or not. In this case they just don't do the cottage justice. There is everything that you could possibly need. I think there was enough cutlery that even if we hadn't put the dishwasher on all weekend we still wouldn't have run out and the second fridge freezer in the games room is a fantastic idea. The games room with pool table, table tennis, air hockey, darts, books, board games and DVD's is ideal for children young and old and of coarse Dad! We had a wonderful weekend Kath the owner couldn't have been more helpful, we will certainly be returning.
Absolutely perfect in every way! Hosts were fantastic nothing was too much trouble . Received a beautiful welcome basket. The facilities were second to none and the decor lovely. The hot tub was gorgeous with an amazing view. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could think of and more. All rooms were clean and tidy and decorated very well. Well worth a visit for a nice quiet week with family. Will definitely be back!!!!!
An absolutely beautiful place, which really did have everything you could possibly need. The hot tub was wonderful with beautiful views of the countryside while relaxing. The kids loved the games room which was so well equipped. A lovely place and lovely people. Hope to be back again soon.
This was the nicest holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. The owners had considered every detail. The beds were very comfy and the furnishings of a very high standard. The games room and hot tub were a big hit with the family. We would definitely consider going back.
This was a wonderful cottage where the attention to detail was exceptional. The owners had thought of everything that you possibly need to make this a great holiday. The games room was a huge hit with enough board games to keep everyone happy on the wettest afternoon. The pool table and table tennis was also much appreciated. Everyone loved the hot tub, and it was great that coloured towels were supplied for use out of doors. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and there was also a gas fired BBQ for sunny evenings. This was a lovely cottage away from the very busy lakes area (Windermere) - very well placed for the coast (and there are some lovely sandy beaches) and very convenient for scafell pike. We would definitely want to go back to this cottage. This was a great cottage for a group of friends or extended family group.
Absolutely amazing weekend at this beautiful cottage, we hardly left the cottage all weekend and had so much fun with all of the games and of course the hot tub, which had stunning views of the Lake District and the coast. We felt like we were the only people for miles, it was lovely and private and lots of personal touches in the cottage itself which is even more amazing than the pictures! Very, very high standard, I would recommend to anyone, and would definitely stay again! Special thank you to the owners for making us feel so welcome and and at home!
We liked every thing. The games room and hot tub were big assets for the children and adults.
It was a fantastic property, and the owners were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and come back, a really great holiday was had by all! The hot tub was awesome, the games room was awesome and the overall space inside and out was awesome.
10 of us booked to stay here for a long weekend in May and we all had an amazing time. Thankfully the weather was great, so we made good use of the hot tub. It was great to relax in the hot tub and admire the fantastic views. The cottage was very clean, with a lot of extra facilities for the BBQ etc. The owners were always on hand to sort any issues we had (which was our fault as we knocked the wrong button on the hot tub!) Kath and Jim are lovely, friendly people and we all look forward to seeing them again when we book our next weekend away!
The owners had thought of everything and provided all that we could possibly need and more. The cottage was great and full of activities. We had a really good stay. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.
Spacious, quiet, well equipped and comfortable cottage set in its own grounds with fabulous view of the Irish Sea to the front and with lovely fells to the rear. The very friendly lovely owners have tried to provide everything you would need to have a great holiday there. We had such a good time there that we plan to return next year. I would highly recommend this cottage for family or friends to get together and have fun or just chill out.
