The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
This location is perfect. The cottage really is just the place if you want a nice cosy hug as you enter door. Wonderfully comfortable. Perfectly equipped. Of course the plus here is the peacock who visited every day displaying for all he was worth. And of course Brian...the best 69
The cottage is set surrounded by beautiful scenery and despite the nearby road, is well insulated from sound and the cold. We received a very warm welcome from Brian who gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble. Arriving ahead of our family (who had the provisions) it was great to be able to make a brew using the fresh milk and tea bags/coffee provided. There was also a lovely bottle of wine and fresh cut flowers. The cottage is finished to a very good and characterful specification, clearly a labor of love. The beds were amazingly comfortable and we could not fault the range of equipment and facilities in all respects. There are so many places of beauty and interest to access within a relatively short time. There was little activity on the farm and we never felt there was any lack of privacy or any potential disturbance. We met "Chick" the peacock who was very tame and sociable, just like Brian! We will definitely re-book at some point.
Just had a week here as a family of 4. Very nicely decorated and well equipped cottage. Plenty of space for the four of us. Brian was an attentive host and made sure everything was OK (which it was). You'd need a car to be based here as nothing much in walking distance but you wouldn't come to the Peaks without one anyway. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful cottage in the heart of the Peak District. Brian the owner gave us a warm welcome to his spotless, beautifully furnished home from home. So comfortable with everything you need. After a good day walking, lovely to return and relax on the reclining sofas. So much to do, Monsal trail, Tissington Trail, Chatsworth House and the numerous caves, all worth a visit. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would certainly like to return.
Had a lovely much needed break at Peacock cottage from 27th-2nd December. It had everything we needed it was a home from home with lots of extras like the gorgeous flowers upon arrival. The cottage was decorated and furnished beautifully and we felt at home. Brilliant location for days out, we visited Derwent reservoir, Castletown, Matlock Bath, Buxton,Leek and Bakewell. Would highly recommend The lamb inn in Chinley (SK236AL) for lovely home cooked food. We can’t thank Brian enough for his hospitality and understanding from booking the cottage till leaving, we would definitely love to come back. Thanks for the New Year’s Eve memories !!
A wonderfully converted cottage everything was such a high standard with everything we needed provided. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The setting had lovely views across the farm and hills are hens and peacock roaming around. The host made sure we were settled in and knew how everything in the cottage was explained. We had a relaxing week and shame we had to come home this is definitely 5star and would recommend a visit.
My wife and I stayed at the cottage from 4th to 11th November. The arrangements for our arrival was faultless. The owner (Brian) contacted me by text advising that we could go in early as he had completed the handover from the previous occupants. On arrival (on a cold & wet day), the cottage was warm and cosy - just perfect to settle down and start our week. There is nothing that can be added other than, this place is perfect. Everything that you need for self catering is here. Thanks Brian.
I cannot emphasise enough how fabulous this rental is. I came with the wife and two daughters for a weeks relaxation and sightseeing and we were not disappointed. For us it really was a week of luxury as there has been no expense spared when renovating this cottage. The daughters loved their own private space in the loft conversion and we couldn't believe that we had a roll top bath to enjoy as well as two recliner leather sofas. The whole family loved the animals especially the Peacock (who the kids named Kevin). There are so many positives about this cottage that I would run out of space on this website and at just over £500 for the week it was great value for money. There is loads to do near by and Alton Towers is only 30 minutes away.
The beautiful Peak District has a secret jewel in it's crown. Peacock Cottage is without any doubt the best holiday cottage I have ever stopped in for a weeks holiday. The location is close to many of the Peak Districts best places to visit. The cottage is without doubt the cleanest I have ever stayed in and the facilities are 5 star. If comfort is something you want in a cottage for a holiday break then the cottage should give you more than you may expect. As an avid hill walker I really expect after a day on the hills a decent shower to relax in after a hard trek and this cottage has two of them which are up there with the best I have ever had in the worlds 5 star and beyond hotels. There are two leather sofa's in the charming lounge which have the brilliant features of electronic controls to enable them to be put in just the right reclined position for four people to have a well earned snooze before dinner. Or a charming patio over looking the surrounding hills to have a Gin and Tonic and watch the beautiful peacocks as they strut around the garden. The well equipped bedrooms are delightful and the beds are some of the best I have ever slept in.The kitchen is full of all the gadgets you are ever likely to need. The owner of the cottage Brian is one of the most charming and witty persons I have ever met and as I am intending to return I am looking forward to his company along with his delightful family who live next door. As the cottage is located on a working farm there is plenty to see going on there. I wish I could give 6 stars because this property deserves it.
Amazing place to stay. Excellent facilities with an old rustic charm which blends beautifully with the modern amenities. Lovely people, so friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate in recommending the lovely place to anyone who is looking for fantastic value and awesome service.
Excellent country cottage . Brian the owner has put a lot of thought and expense in creating a lovely cosy country cottage , lots of character plus hi-tech features - Smart TV , "smart shower" ! etc. Good base for exploring/hiking in the Peak District . Brian also does his best to ensure his guests are warmly welcomed and get the very best from their stay . (Peacocks present on site)
This cottage was exceptional. beautifully appointed and possibly the best we have ever stayed in (and there have been many) comfort, care and peace of mind have all been catered for. If you want to pay £200.00 per night you will. not find better. The location is stunning and although there are no walks from the door it is barely 2 ,miles to access wonderful walking with amazing views. I cannot be more complimentary about the host Brian Doocey, a delightful guy who did everything to help when we were snowed in....I do believe he would have shopped for us if we ran out of food. The rest of the people on the farm were also wonderfully helpful and friendly. Peacocks to gaze at, Irish humour and customer care...what more could anyone want. Due to an accident we had to cut short our stay but as soon as possible, we will go back....if we can get in. Incredibly popular and justifiably so. Well done Brian! You are a star!

The cottage is a 10 minute drive from Buxton and close to Mam Tor and the Blue John Caverns. It is furnished to a very high standard and had everything we needed for a family holiday with teenagers. It is arranged over three floors with comfortable beds and well-equipped living areas. The friendly peacocks and cat were an added bonus.
This charming cottage was immaculate. Obviously a lot of thought had gone into the design with its modern décor. It was one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in and it is all of a high quality. They really have thought of everything. The owner, Brian was very friendly and helpful. It is in a great location to tour the Peak District by car or on foot. We hope to return one day.
Beautiful barn conversion - everything modern and pristine. Great attention to detail; everything you could need is supplied. Peacocks, hens and chicks galore. The owner, Brian, is great craic and will bend over backwards to ensure that your stay is perfect.
