We arrived home at the weekend, having had a lovely relaxing week at Bears Cottage. It’s a beautiful cottage, that has been renovated so tastefully without removing the character feel! It was very clean, had everything you would need - plus more! The welcome goodies of milk, cookies and wine were very much appreciated. It’s in the heart of the village, with a Community shop across the road and the local pub less than 5 minutes walk. We’ve stayed in other cottages in the Cotswolds, but Bear’s Cottage is No. 1 for us! Phil and Sue, you should be proud of all your hard work - we enjoyed looking at the renovation photographs. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it,
The ultimate family vacation! This beautiful cottage was perfect for our family of four (including two boys ages 11 and 13)The cottage was tastefully decorated and very clean. It offered all the amenities that our family required. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. Susan and Phil were perfect hosts from start to finish. Susan was very responsive to all of our planning questions and Phil checked on us several times during our stay. The village... Oh the darling village! We fell in love with Bretforton. The village people are so friendly and welcoming. By the end of our short stay many of the towns people knew our children by name and greeted us during our daily walks. The village is very safe and has plenty of parking. The community store was a great asset, in the mornings our children would walk across the street and get delicious pastries for breakfast and other snacks for our day trips. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring all of the other villages in the Cotswolds. The town pub, the Fleece Inn was unforgettable. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It was delightful to enjoy a pint and talk with the locals. One evening we enjoy live traditional English music performed by local musicians. Reservations are recommended. Overall it was a trip of a lifetime. We can’t wait to stay at the Bears Cottage again. Five star service and accommodations that our family will never forget.
Susan and Phil, the owners of Bear's Cottage, have gone above and beyond in every way. Apart from the cottage having been lovingly renovated to a very high standard and totally in keeping with its age, they left us a card wishing us a happy stay along with some cookies, and Phil popped round on the first afternoon to make sure we had everything we needed and explain a couple of things in the welcome pack. Because of an e-mail exchange I'd had with Susan regarding our love for teddy bears, they had even left a couple of bears waiting to welcome us - a really lovely, personal touch. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable and for me the hardest thing was having to leave to come home! Bretforton itself is a lovely little village with a local pub, The Fleece Inn, which offers a yummy Sunday roast (it gets busy so booking is advised) and there's a small but well-stocked village shop. The village is in a great location for visiting places like Evesham, Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway and so on. Thank you, Susan and Phil, for letting us use the wonderful Bear's Cottage for the week; we absolutely loved it, and having rented a few properties over the years I can confidently say this has been the best so far.
Had the cottage been a disappointment our holiday would have been a wash-out on account of the deluges of rain. However, it was a delight - comfy, warm and spotless. We arrived to a welcome from Phil and a delicious cake made by Sue, so, with tea and milk provided, even fresh flowers in the kitchen, we got off to a great start. The decor of this restored cottage is serene and the pretty, well cared for garden lovely to look at, and, weather permitting, to sit in. The friendly community shop opposite is a great boon - daily newspapers, artisan bread and daily essentials, as well as a little cafe. The chacterful Fleece Inn is just down the street and the ancient Church of St Leonard right next door. Despite the rain, we managed to visit Hidcote, Kiftgate, Batsford, and many of the idyllic small villages nearby. The ambience of the cottage, with its spacious two bedrooms (comfy beds with well chosen bed linen,) beautifully tiled contemporary styled shower room, cosy living area (large, wummfy sofa and luxurious armchair, dining table and four chairs), clever storage and user friendly mod kitchen, was great. We loved it! Thank you Susan and Phil.
Ideally situated for exploring the Cotswolds, Shakespeare country and beyond. Lovely, friendly village with good pub and community shop. The cottage is very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Easy parking and pretty garden. Phil and Susan are excellent hosts. This is our second visit - would highly recommend.
