The small County Sligo town of Ballysadare is situated on the banks of the Owenmore River. It's home to a small selection of shops and pubs, whilst just five miles is the vibrant town of Sligo.
The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.
Belladrihid cottage provided us with a warm, comfortable base from which to explore County Sligo. The location is very central for access to Yeats country, megalithic tombs, and many lovely coastal and country walks. It has a rural outlook with lovely views of the hills, donkeys and sheep across the fence, and ducks wandering around, but there is also easy access to the motorway just south of Sligo. The Supa Value supermarket in Ballysadare, a few minutes drive away is excellent for self catering needs. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and we were grateful for the generous provisions supplied in the kitchen.
The owner provided excellent hospitality and we couldn't praise the accommodation highly enough, everything was just right for us.
Belladrihid Cottage made a great base from which to work from. The owner could not have been more friendly and helpful. We where able to get out and see the area. Yet it was quiet and peaceful.
The owners were very welcoming and very helpful; they lit the fire for us everyday so when we returned from a day out the cottage was lovely and warm.
